Eh it was okay

  • 3 of 5

Everything was great except for the fact that the house was some what dirty as well as the furniture being older and not too clean.

Beautiful family home!

  • 5 of 5

The home was perfect for our family as we gathered together for our son's wedding. We used the opportunity to have a mini family reunion and thoroughly enjoyed the home. It was a completely turn-key home that left us in want for nothing. Clean, comfortable, and wonderful owners made our stay the best family event we have had in several years. I would make this property a #1 top priority choice to reserve if in Colorado Springs or the surrounding area. Absolutely perfect!!!

Large Home That Needs Some Maintenance Attention

  • 3 of 5

We booked this house because it was 1) large as we had 12+ people staying and 2) looked amazing in the photos. The house was definitely big enough to handle a large group; however it wasn’t as amazing as the photos led you to believe. There were lots of maintenance issue that left me feeling somewhat overcharged @ $475 per night. I relayed these concerns to the owner during our stay and he promptly replied that he was already aware of most of them, but they obviously had not been fixed before our arrival.

First and foremost, the dishwasher was inoperable - the door would fall completely off onto the floor when you opened it. Based on what it looked like on the inside, it appears to have been broken for quite some time. The owner said he was already aware so I'm not why it had not already been replaced since that's a fairly easy thing to replace. We had to hand wash dishes for 12+ people during our stay which isn't something you expect to do on vacation. Built in microwave was also broken but a second microwave on the counter top was provided for interim use. The sliding doors on downstairs closets were broken. The carpeted floor in the one downstairs bathroom was very damp and smelled musty. Air mattresses had large rips in them, so they could not be used as advertised. All darts for the dart board were broken. Several dining room chairs had band-aided legs on them which we did not sit on for fear of them breaking. And walking around the house in your bare feet left the bottom of your feet being black. Bottom line, this house needs a handyman and a little better housekeeping.

One other thing I’ll comment on since I’ve stayed in quite a few VRBO/Homeaway rentals over the years is how much homeowner personal stuff is in the house. If you didn’t know better, you’d swear the owner left the house just so you could stay in it that particular week. It felt like a primary residence, not a second one. The drawers, closets, garage, etc. are all packed full of homeowner stuff. Kids trophies, bottles of wine in the wine rack, etc. There was even OTC medicine in the cabinets. It’s great in one respect that anything you might possibly need on a trip can likely be found in the house somewhere but it’s also a little odd because it’s not what you typically encounter/expect in a rental home. Normally you only find the bare essentials. Wasn't an issue, but was just a little odd.

Colorado Springs Wedding

  • 3 of 5

The house is spacious and easy to function in when there are 10 people! It was located close to the Air Force Academy, which made our life easier! That being said, one of the rooms had a pullout couch and we couldn't find any sheets to put on the mattress. The trash bin and recycling bin--both in the garage-- were overflowing!! The grill was filthy and had a broken hinge, but my husband cleaned it and fixed it! Our stay was fine, not luxurious!!

Owner's Response: Dear Joanie/ Thanks for the review.....feedback is always appreciated. Unfortunstely some things are beyond my control....like the fact trash/recycling pick/up is once once per week. I was not aware that the grill was dirty/broken....unfortunately the house gets wear and tear with so many guests in the Summer and we do our best to keep items repaired....appreciate your husbands help. As far as the sheets go....I will speak with my cleaners as they typically keep spare sets in the closet and dresser. I wish you would have contacted me with these concerns during your stay as I would have done my best to rectify. We will continue to strive to provide a comfortable home away from home to guests for an affordable price. Rick
