Hi! My name is Steve Milo and I started Vacation Rental Pros in 2006. Our family stays in vacation rental homes whenever we travel, both domestically and abroad! I own several vacation homes and listen carefully to all our guests' feedback. Our greatest compliment is when folks refer Vacation Rental Pros to their friends and relatives. We now manage over 1,800 properties in Florida, Tennessee and South Carolina. We have homes in Ft. Myers Beach, Orlando, St. Augustine Beach, Daytona Beach, Palm Coast, Ponte Vedra Beach, Hilton Head and Gatlinburg. We booked over 15,000 rentals and received over 5,000 guest reviews in 2016. Please call if you need help booking your dream vacation!
This house is managed by a rental company called Vacation Pros. They are very difficult to work with. If it is your first time to do VRBO, find a property that is managed by the owner...you will get better service. The property is weathered, which I knew from previous reviews, so the outdated furniture and peeling exterior paint didn't surprise me. Holes in the interior wall, cracked trim around the front door frame (that caught my arm going in), exposed rusty screws on the floor on the upper balcony, a broken dining chair, clocks and remote controls without batteries, rusty/falling off vent cover, broken/missing towel bars, mold around edges of tubs, and a rusty old gate that didn't latch at the top of the stairs to the deck was all over the top--some of these are health hazards, frankly. I contacted the company right away, they supposedly made notes of all of this. The worst part, however, was the fact that the house was not clean when we arrived. There was a pile of sand on the floor (floor was certainly not mopped) and the nasty warn down carpet had not been vacuumed; there was toothpaste in a bathroom sink (needed to be wiped out); the king bed in the master bedroom had queen sheets and mattress pad on it, which meant the sheets and pad were popping off of one corner and the mattress was completely exposed. I called for new sheets/mattress pad and they brought new sheets the next day (that FIT) but said a king sized mattress pad was not available. Ridiculous. I read reviews before booking and took a chance; I could handle a house that was outdated (have 5 kids, so it meant I didn't have to worry about them destroying anything!), but I was extremely disappointed that the house had dangerous things that I had to watch out for, like exposed rusty screws and broken trim around a door, plus not being properly cleaned when we had to pay a hefty cleaning fee. The Vacation Pros company did nothing for any of these concerns. BUT, I was happy to be right on the beach (hence the 2 stars as opposed to 5) and it was big enough for our family. There IS parking (2 spots) below the house, which is not clear in the description, and of course nobody at Vacation Pros could inform me of that before I booked . Having said all of this, I would not go back to Ft Myers Beach again. While the beach was lovely and the kids got great shells, the traffic was always horrible (thankfully we could walk to Publix) (granted, it was March, spring break season).
Long story short is this is a nice sized rental on a georgeous portion of the beach. The porch is large and overlooks the gulf, which is priceless. The unit is in need of repairs. There were electrical outlets exposed, porch spindles broken/rotten and bathroom doors that did not close. Besides the normal little tiny bugs that your find at most Florida beach rentals, this unit was infested with cockroaches. With some repairs this would be a great rental.
This property has wonderful potential. Unfortunately we asked for maintenance four days later one showed and fixed the bathroom light (it had none working) and did not return to fix any other problem. The house is in need of a good cleaning (food in microwave, clothes in dresser etc.)we actually had to clean enough to get by. We have stayed in the area for many years and when on vacation this is not what makes memories. Hopefully this review will help the owners/manager bring this property to its potential.
Our stay was great!! The back deck was perfect to watch the sunset! The upper deck was great for waking up and enjoying a cup of coffee.
The grill needed gas, but a technician came and replaced the tank immediately. The fridge and freezer worked fine for us. It is very convenient to grocery store, and restaurants. The house being oceanfront is great! Just what I expected for a beach cottage.
This house needs a ton of love. Everything was falling apart.
Upon arrival the trash cans were overflowing..not a good sign.
All of the closets were full of the owners junk...we couldn't even use them.
The 1 chair on the upstairs deck was scary to look at let alone sit in.
The freezer didn't work. Our steaks weren't kept frozen and our ice cream was soup. We had to buy ice because the ice maker didn't work. The repairman came and said it could not be fixed and the owners needed to buy a new one. We never saw a new one. We were there for 2 weeks.
The laundry room doors were falling off.
The tv and ceiling fan remotes didn't work even after replacing all the batteries. The tv would not turn off and you couldn't adjust the volume either way. The ceiling fan remotes all had tape holding the backs on.
There were no outdoor lighting on the porch. So sitting out there at night was not much fun.
The sliding glass doors barely slide.
The 3rd floor bathroom had absolutely no water pressure in the shower, it trickled out. The pocket door did not slide. You had to push it up to get it to close half way. 3 out of the 5 beds were awful. The 2 twins on the third floor were acceptable.
When we rented this house it said it had an elevator. Well it DOES NOT have an elevator. The rental company did nothing about this. My parents both 65 had to climb those steps everyday (my dad who has had both knees replaced). It is 24 steps from the ground to the first floor. We had with us our 11 year old 100lb Old English Sheepdog that has bad legs and doesn't get around very well. My husband and I had to carry her up and down these steps 3x a day. Our calves were so pulled we couldn't even walk by the 4th day.
The grill was horrible and all the grilling tools were filthy dirty when we got there.
The 2 beach chairs that they had should had been put out for trash because they were awful. It would have been better to offer nothing.
All of the furniture and decor were dated and old and needs to be replaced.
I understand the point of the house is the beach (which is awesome) but when you pay a good amount of money you expect it to be somewhat comfortable. This house was not comfortable or cozy in anyway.
I have never written a review about anything before, but this house was beyond disappointing. The rental company was horrible. Keep looking and do not stay here.
The overall stay was quite pleasant, however the Gas Grille and Refrigerator/Freezer did not work properly, even after the repairman made adjustments. We had undercooked steaks and soupy ice cream. The living room TV remotes did not work, even after we changed the batteries. The carpeting needed to be cleaned or replaced and beds could all be replaced.
