Fully furnished home with 4 queen beds with a fully stocked kitchen. The house has a covered back porch as well as a patio next to the porch and a deck out over the river. We are three miles from the Rio Grande Golf Club and Resort, 20 miles from the Wolf Creek Ski area that has the most snow of any resort in Colorado, in the middle of thousands of acres of national forests, and have a gold medal trout stream in our back yard. The Great Sand Dunes National Park is a short drive as is the famous hot springs of Pagosa Springs along with many other summer and winter attractions.
We love children, so we have a pack n play on site for your babies!
We do have one other requirement that I think is important to share in advance. The neighbors on both sides of our house (and the houses are close) are retired Christian people. They are good friends, and we do not want our guests’ activities to be disturbing to them in any way. As such, we ask that there be no loud music ever, nor loud partying in the evening. Remember this is Colorado at 8000 ft., so people sleep with their windows open in the summer. You can feel free to use the great back yard, fire pits, and decks as long or late as you want, but make sure that by 10 pm the sound of laughter and talking does not make a problem for them. FYI, they are not crankpots, in fact they will be great friends and of help to you while you are there. We just want you to remember that this is not a resort, but a family subdivision, so be respectful of them as I know you will.
We owned property with friends in Colorado earlier in our lives and loved taking our children there for summer and winter fun. We always thought we would come back. Now we plan to allow our grandchildren similar experiences to what we gave our kids. We are Texans, and Texas Aggies, but love this part of Colorado, especially since it is essentially northwest Texas! We hope you will enjoy it as much as we do (even if Texas A&M isn't your favorite university!)

We looked at numerous other properties that just didn't feel right. When we saw this property with the great house, beautiful yard and the deck on the river, we just knew it was home. We hope you will feel this way too.
Thoroughly enjoyed our week stay. Family of 5 adults had plenty of room in this wonderful, clean home. Even had room for another couple to stay a couple of nights. Nearby golf course (Rio Grande Club) was a lot of fun. Fly fishing lessons from Wolf Creek Anglers (just down the street) is highly recommended. Drove to Creede and Lake City and drove the Alpine Loop in a 4-wheel drive pickup - incredible scenery!! Home had working wi-fi, wonderful kitchen and dining room. Manager of home was easy to contact and quick to resolve some minor issues. Highly recommend the Windsor Hotel (in Del Norte) for a fabulous steak dinner!! The only negative was the numbers of may flies hatching from the river, but that's just part of being near a river.
What a find. On the river. Not close: on it. Quiet, secluded, but streets and driveway plowed so easy in and out. Far enough from highway to be silent, close enough to get on highway in about 3 minutes. A wonderful house, very well maintained. Kitchen has everything you need, house has plenty of room. Large suite over garage. Nice fireplace. Four bedrooms so plenty of folks can stay in one house. Cannot wait to get back to it.
Thank you! I had the privilege of staying at Hullabaloo House five days & nights this past week in mid-September in one of the most wonderful vacation settings available. I enjoyed trout fishing, and caught some nice ones at least from my perspective. Hullabaloo House offers great trout fishing in the summer and fall just beyond the back yard on the beautiful Rio Grande River. I am sure the skiing opportunities at nearby Wolf Creek offer an equally rewarding experience.
Hullabaloo House is all about comfort, relaxation, and a great family setting for a vacation getaway. A couple of small families, or one large one, up to eight, could certainly enjoy the area with Hullabaloo House as a “Base Camp”. “Camp” is the wrong word. It is far from a camp, as all of the amenities one could wish for are all available. High speed wireless internet, satellite TV, good cell phone signal, great beds, washer/dryer, and a chef's kitchen with all utensils needed for a gourmet meal. One just has to bring one's own food, personal things, and the bounty of nature is at your beck and call just outside the doors.
Some years ago I spent several days in the nearby La Garita Wilderness Area on The Continental Divide. The La Garita is easily accessible for day trips from Hullabaloo House, as are many other attractions in the area.
I have stayed in many, many guest houses, and have had the opportunity to travel and stay in guest houses in Europe, a couple of countries in Southern Africa, Canada, and much of the NW USA. Hullabaloo House far exceeded my expectations, and by far outshines all others I have stayed in.
I will certainly recommend Hullabaloo House to my family and friends, if they wish to enjoy a wonderful family vacation in SW Colorado.

Our week at Hullabaloo House was a perfect combination of activity and relaxation! The house is charming and comfortable inside and out. The owners seem to have anticipated any need or desire we might have -- and then some! From inside the house or on the deck, the river was beautiful, melodious, and peaceful. The neighbors were very friendly and helpful. Day trips to Creede, Fort Garland, Sand Dunes National Park, and over various mountain roads provided plenty of gorgeous scenery and hiking opportunities. After the busy-ness of the days, it was always nice to come back to the house and spend quiet time in the den or out on the porch or deck (or even around a camp fire!). What an enjoyable week!
If you want to get away from it all, hear the roar of the river, and stay in a nice place with great amenities, this is the place. The neighbors are close on both sides, but we met both while we were there, and they were family oriented, decent down to earth people. That being said, the lot is deep in the front and plenty or room in the back for privacy. The backyard is gorgeous with native plants, trees, a full covered porch and a sweet deck that actually sits out over the river. The house is beautiful inside and large enough for everyone to spread out. The kitchen has everything you need, and we took advantage of it as we cooked all our meals there, including grilling out. We don't have time to cook in our busy lives and part of vacation in the mountains is a large breakfast every morning. The fishing wasn't too good that week (think we had the wrong bait) but the grandkids rented kayaks and went up the Rio Grande river. They started by the the train station at the turn to Creede and got out next door to our place - about a 6 mile river run. We spent a day in Creede, and our guys wished they had time to golf - the course is amazing. Wolfe Creek Pass is close by, and not too far over to Pagosa Springs. Our one regret is that we couldn't stay longer. We can not wait for our next visit. We HIGHLY recommend this place. (Just be aware - the owners are Aggie fans, and we come from Texas Tech Red Raiderland, but we had a lot of fun with that.) Go, and enjoy. You won't regret it.
