About Eric

In 2014, Brush Mountain Lodge became more than just a home, as Eric opened the doors to all those who wished to experience an evening or few in the serene beauty in and around the luxurious timber framed three story inn. Leaving his traditional day job behind, Eric looks forward to corresponding with guests and assisting with plans that create lasting memories.

Eric and his team of two, Shannon and Paula - Penns Valley natives, keep the lodge running smoothly and guests content. Sharing responsibilities, Shannon or Paula will happily greet you at the door upon arrival. You'll be guided through the Lodge's many grand spaces while they point out amenities along the way and answer questions.

These three are experts in what makes the area so special and are happy to share details of local attractions with guests and help you plan catering, event rentals, wine or beer tours, and more to make your stay and use of the lodge just as you imagined. You'll see that they’ve earned the rave reviews you'll read in the Lodge's Guest Book during your upcoming stay.

Brush Mountain Lodge was absolutely amazing!

  • 5 of 5

We recently stayed at Brush Mountain Lodge for a family reunion which included family members of all ages. We were able to rent the entire lodge and it worked out perfectly. There were enough bedrooms and living areas so everyone was able to be together and yet sleep comfortably at night. The bedrooms and bathrooms were all very comfortable and well furnished. The views out the windows were spectacular! We met Shannon when we arrived and she went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable. We had her phone number and she immediately responded to any questions that we might have had. Eric, the owner, also responded to any emails we sent prior to our visit and made sure the Lodge was all set for us. He even supplied new air conditioners when there was a small problem with the air conditioning unit.

Overall, we couldn’t have had a better visit and everyone already decided that they would love to return next year for a repeat visit. Thank you both for making our weekend so memorable.

Fabulous house, beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

We rented this house for a 2 day/2 night managers' off-site retreat. This location is everything the pictures show and more. We spent evenings by the fire on the deck. Used the large and well-stocked grill. Everything was incredible and perfect. Beds were comfy and rooms were large. Thank you so much!

Perfect for Small Weddings!

  • 5 of 5

The Lodge is absolutely gorgeous. My husband and I rented it for our small wedding in January 2016 and simply couldn't have been happier with it. It was perfect for our cozy winter event, but would be beautiful in the summer as well. The view of the valley below is stunning. The setting is rural, quiet, and relaxing. The driveway is paved and plowed in the winter and there is ample parking.

The Lodge itself is very clean, well maintained, and exactly as described (if not better). The bedrooms - each with its own bathroom - are clean and uncluttered with comfortable beds and linens. The master bedrooms in particular are generously sized. The kitchen is fully stocked with dishes and cooking supplies (it made our caterer very happy). The architecture is the perfect backdrop for pictures (our photographers were very happy too). There is plenty of space for 40-50 guests, with three main areas available for events (porch, first floor, second floor). Each of the three areas has a beautiful stone fireplace. The surroundings set off decorations nicely and add a rich, woodsy feel.

Eric was incredibly friendly, generous, and accommodating every time we contacted him. We will be recommending this place to everyone we meet who is looking for a venue and visiting again ourselves. Couldn't be happier!

Exceptionally accommodating!

  • 5 of 5

This was a perfect location for our Penn State Homecoming Get Together! We had 10 in our group with children ranging ages 6 months to 14 years old. We needed a place to call home for the weekend so that each family would have their own space but also shared spaces for gathering and meals. We had booked 3 of the 5 available rooms. We didn’t mind being about 20-30 minutes from downtown State College. The Lodge itself was gorgeous with cozy fireplaces, a serene outdoor space, spacious rooms and en suites, comfortable sitting areas, and spectacular views! No hotel in State College could ever compare. The staff was exceptionally accommodating providing early and later check-ins, extra bed set-ups in the rooms, early breakfast on Saturday, and s’more fixings. The breakfasts were delicious, and there was a wide selection of fresh fruits, yogurts, cereals, fresh baked quiche, French toast, sausages, coffee, teas, juices, and mimosas! Not only was the staff accommodating, but absolutely delightful with wonderful conversations and top-notch hospitality. We all hope to return soon!

My family and I will forever have very fond memories of our weekend stay at Brush Mountain Lodge. We were looking for a venue to have our wedding that would be intimate for the service yet large enough for a gathering. The service only included immediate family, and we wanted a location where we wouldn’t have to worry about transportation and arrangements for guests coming from out of town. Brush Mountain Lodge was the perfect find! The lodge is situated in the mountains and yet easily accessible. The location is serene and the panoramic views are just spectacular! We rented the lodge for the weekend of July 4th, 2015. The ceremony took place Friday evening on the deck with a catered dinner afterwards (plug for Bobbie’s Kitchen – excellent!). Saturday we invited extended family and friends for a celebration, totaling more than 50 guests. Despite the rainy conditions, everything went just as planned and the weekend was a huge success!

The lodge itself is just amazing, from the decor to the accommodations. The pictures are nice but still don’t do it justice! All the bedrooms and bathrooms are spacious. My sister’s family of 5 adults stayed in the master suite on the first floor, and there was ample room! Overall there were 17 of us the first night and 14 for the second night and everyone was comfortable. The common areas are open and large enough that no one ever felt cramped, even for our celebration on Saturday. Also it is helpful that the furniture can be moved and arranged to best suit your needs. We are a family of cooks and the kitchen is well stocked with cookware and utensils! The grill was plenty big enough for our group. One of my favorite spots is outdoors on the deck, by the fireplace. It is just lovely and very relaxing in the evening. The lodge provided a full brunch for our group on Sunday and it was more than enough; everything was delicious from the eggs and sausages to the pastries. There was something for everyone!

The lodge alone is great, but I can’t say enough about working with the proprietor, Eric. He was so accommodating to all our needs and very nice to deal with when making the arrangements for the weekend! I would definitely recommend Brush Mountain Lodge for anyone looking for an event venue, or a bed and breakfast get away! The weekend and lodge will always have a special place in our memories. We are blessed and could not be more pleased to have started our marriage in such a wonderful place!
