Sugar Shack

  • 3 of 5

The location of this property is great! It is quiet, clean, and close to the beach.

We appreciated being able to prepare our own meals and the kitchen and cookware was acceptable. It had everything we needed except some large mixing bowls and knives that were sharp. This made it hard to cut through our chicken and vegetables, and mix up large salads and other dishes.

The condo has a big comfy bed, a nice size bathroom and living room. The kitchen table was a little rickety and some of the chairs looked like they were coming apart.

I know this property is suppose to have a vintage feel, but a little updating of the furnishings, cookware, and dishes would go a long way in showing appreciation to the guests.

Location great! Carpet in bathroom horrible, heat and lack of good air flow difficult to hang out inside and sleep. Neighbors not to excited about people staying there. Bring your own beach chairs and if you have bikes it's really difficult to find a place to keep them.

Does not sleep four - broken sofa bed, in need of an update and a deep clean

  • 1 of 5

We rented this property to sleep four adults (my husband, my parents and myself) during a friend's wedding weekend. We arrived and the property did not look as pictured - the furniture is dated, there is untidy shag carpeting throughout (including in the bathroom) and it has a run-down feel downstairs. When my parents went to pull out the sofa bed, one of the legs was broken. They moved the mattress to the floor but it was lumpy, had springs right on the surface and was ultimately unsafe and unusable. We were extremely disappointed as this unit does not sleep four. The bed upstairs was fine, but for the price, you can do much better. The town and beach are beautiful, but I would steer clear of this rental.

Owner's Response: We're sorry the guest didn't appreciate the theme going on in this home. The decor screams casual beachy condo with a 70's surfer vibe. This is part of the charm of the town and our guests are totally down with it. A new futon has been added and a very comfy inflatable mattress also. Thank you.

Desperately needs an upgrade and does not sleep four

  • 1 of 5

The property doesn't look like the photos on the listing at all. It's in desperate need of an upgrade (shag carpeting, unsleepable sofa bed, old furniture except the upstairs bed) for the price it is being offered for. We stayed here (four adults) and the pull-out sofa bed is totally unusable. One of the legs of the sofa is broken and the mattress is old, misshapen and has springs coming out. My parents had to move the mattress to the floor to sleep on it and it was still incredibly uncomfortable. This property should not be advertised to sleep four people unless the sofa bed is replaced. We were very disappointed with the quality based on the price we paid. We've stayed at many great vacation rentals in all different parts of the country and sadly this was not one of them.
