This Grade II listed, mini Gothic castle was built in 1850 and is now a fairy-tale holiday home. It is believed to have been built as the gate house for the officers accommodation for the Dover Castle Garrison who were housed in an impressive crescent of homes in Victoria Park.
The Gate House underwent complete refurbishment in 2011/12 to transform into high quality holiday accommodation and was even featured on Homes Under the Hammer!
Now a romantic holiday destination, this cottage is perfect for romantic getaways from honeymoons and special anniversaries or birthdays, to an amazing place to stay for history enthusiasts. It is also perfect for families as children love the experience of staying in their own little castle. The sumptuous furnishings along with central heating and the gas stove make this a perfect destination all year round, ideal for seeing the transformation of the stunning coastline with the changing seasons.
I often work with guests to provide surprises for other members of their party, for example, arranging for flowers, chocolates and champagne to be left and even sometimes birthday cakes. If you have any special requirements, do contact me.
The Gate House is close to both Dover Castle, the town itself and also just a ten minute walk down to the picturesque promenade and shingle beach.
The accommodation offers a turret upstairs and down, exposed beams throughout, fireplaces and even has crenelations!
