About Stephanie and Duane Scoville
We moved from Kansas to this amazing 1860's historic homestead. Original outbuildings and pond. We live in the 1920's cabin but the original homestead that we are sharing is the reason we bought the property. We back to amazing boulder field and 100 year old digs for minerals. Duane is a flyfishing guide and horse wrangler for the Tarryall River Dude Ranch and Stephanie is the retail director for Garden of the Gods Visitor and Nature Center. We also rent out our property for weddings and reunions. We have had music festivals and Market at Idlewild Ranch. We have 6 kids and 13 grandkids (that is why there is a pixie pine fort and fairy cave on the property}. We would love to share our mountain paradise with you!
Stephanie and Duane Scoville purchased this Cabin in 2007

Such a rustic cabin! Built in the 1850’s. Small but comfortable. The dogs enjoyed the large fenced in yard. We enjoyed how well done the decor was, authentic to the timeframe it was built( with king bed added ) our hostess Stephanie was so friendly. Look forward to another visit .
Loved staying at this property. Backs up to National forest which makes it feel secluded & private. Super cozy & comfortable. Allows dogs & has a great big fenced in area for them. Would absolutely stay here again!!! Thank you for sharing your cabin w/ us!:)
Slice of Heaven!!!
My husband and I stayed 7 days and it wasn't nearly long enough! The property is GORGEOUS and backs up to the national forest so look for critters! We only saw deer and chipmunks :) Stephanie met us at the cabin when we got in and answered our questions and gave us wonderful recommendations for the area and made us feel so welcomed and free to explore! In her words, Colorado is still the wild west dude. ;) (By the way, HIGHLY recommend the Iron Tree for food, and Thunderbird Inn!) The cabin next to ours was rented out to a few different groups during our stay here but we hardly ever saw anyone else. Cabin is equipped with everything you could need, simplified and rustically gorgeous. The decor in the cabin is beyond charming and made for such a magical stay and a feeling of never wanting to leave! If coming during the summer we'd recommend you bring some bug spray and just check the bed periodically for random bugs that get in during the day. Hubs and I are having withdrawals missing this little cabin and its beautiful location. Teller County is a great little area and people are all so friendly and interesting! Plenty to do and explore and little shops in Woodland Park, Divide, and Manitou Springs and CO Springs are close enough if you need a bigger town day it's easy to make happen. All the hiking in the area was indescribably beautiful and all within minutes of the cabin. Thank you Stephanie for providing us such an amazing and beautiful week we will always cherish! We hope to come back!!
Beautiful rustic cabin. Driveway into property needs some improvement but that was the only negative, and very minor.
It would be helpful to tell future occupants that there is no shower but a classic old bath tub with hand held wand.
Great rustic getaway
Authentic rustic cabin backing to forest- perfect for hiking, bouldering, or just relaxing.
We are two miles from the Platte River...float down gentle rapids. Fishing in Eleven Mile Canyon. An hour from Cheyenne Mountain Zoo. 40 min. from Garden of the Gods. 70 minutes from whitewater rafting and the Royal Gorge. Amazing rockhounding behind our cabin. Horse back riding close by. 30 minutes to Cripple Creek Gambling Town..
