About the property

Modern cabin nestled among the Redwoods, right on the creek.

Situated among the majestic redwoods of coastal Sonoma County, a mid-century gem is waiting for you, your friends and family.

A rare combination of rustic and modern, nature and comfort a short distance from the hustle of the City.

Perfect for romantics, explorers, wine lovers, and beachcombers.

Why: very quiet, peaceful and private, located right on the seasonal Austin Creek. Avoid the chaos of the Russian River crowd and enjoy the luxury of having private access to the creek. Woods, wine and beach are within minutes.

What: two-bedroom, mid-century cabin, all original details well preserved, very comfortable. 2 queen-sized beds sleep 2-4. Additional accommodations courtesy of a 16’ Airstream, sleeps 1 adult comfortably and 2 cozily. Dry heat sauna with outdoor shower, next to the cabin seats 2-4 people. Creek-side hammocks, BBQ and WiFi. Top of the line ‘70’s era turntable with a nice collection of vinyl. Among the amenities are a lack of cell phone reception and no TV (except in the Airstream).

Where: 5 minutes from the ocean, 15 minutes to Guerneville, and close to many Russian River wineries.

Not recommended for kids under 8.

Bodega Bay/Jenner - dramatic ocean views, bird watching, whale spotting, rugged NorCal beaches and good selection of dining.

Guerneville / Monte Rio / Duncan Mills – river rafting, summer music festivals, restaurants, bars, bakeries, groceries, and best taco truck around.

Russian River Area – wine tasting, pastoral valleys, restaurants hiking, and biking.

How: 3 night minimum stay, occasional 2 night stay pending availability.

Cozy and Fun!

  • 4 of 5

This was AMAZING! The creek was running, and the kids LOVED it! It was perfect to play around, the current was not too strong. VERY kid-friendly!

The cabin was cozy, and everything was neat from the moment we first got there.

We went to the creek almost EVERY day! The kids built a fort in the trees, made a rock collection, saw some wildlife (multiple banana slugs, a gecko, and more), swung from tree branches over water, went floating down the creek in some inner tubes we bought, and ran down to the creek every morning after breakfast. The phrase "I want to go to the creek!" was commonly heard.

We took day trips to Armstrong National Forest and Jenner. The cabin was the perfect place to plop down and rest after a long day.

We managed to play badminton with the provided equipment. After a few tries, we managed to get it down pat (well, sort of).

A few problems: We couldn't figure out how to get the sauna to work, but it had a wonderfully powerful scent of pine (very relaxing!). Also, the oven didn't work.

Overall, the stay here was AWESOME and I would LOVE to come back. One of the BEST places EVER!

Great property for a weekend getaway

  • 5 of 5

This lovely 1960s period cabin was extremely well-maintained, very clean, and is situated in a picturesque location in a redwood grove. The lofted bedroom provided a charming spot to relax, listen to some classic vinyl on the record player, and gaze out the giant A-frame windows into the trees. The kitchen was well-equipped for a mix of stovetop and grill cooking, with plenty of places to stock up on food (the Safeway in Guerneville is less than a 20 minute drive from the cabin). The sauna was surprisingly easy to use and added a great way to unwind after a long day of kayaking down the Russian River and hiking in Armstrong Redwoods. We also enjoyed using the fireplace. The owners Trent and Anya provided thorough directions for getting to the house and instructions for enjoying the amenities. It's a beautiful property and a great weekend getaway.

Charming, thoughtfully designed cabin in a great location

  • 4 of 5

We had a super family holiday. There was still enough water in the creek in May for a proper adult swim, and the location is superb. The vinyl really made it for us - though finding Purple Rain was a bit of a tearjerker! The trees on the plot are stunning and there are some lovely touches in the cabin. It was perhaps a little less pristine than the photos suggest, but actually we loved the period appliances and original fittings still intact.

Our only suggestions would be relatively small things: Even on hot days the cabin is chilly first thing, so with hard floors we wish we'd brought slippers. The outdoor security lights rather spoiled the ambience at night - we couldn't see the sky or the stars, and they shine right into the cabin with no obvious place to turn them off. We were also a little unnerved by the 4 or so webcams pointed around the plot.

But overall we had a great time in a very special spot. Thanks Trent and Anya for sharing your space with us.

Great little get away on the River

  • 4 of 5

Loved the concept, furnishings and overall vibe of the cottage. Some beautiful redwoods on the property, located on the bank of the river. It was nice to not have distractions of a TV. The turn table was a pleasant surprise and a good mix of vinyl made for some entertaining evenings. a beautiful 10 minute drive to Guerneville ca and 20 minutes from the coast. Overall great, peaceful getaway with the family.

Beautiful, quiet and secluded property with a beautiful interior design. Exactly what we were looking for in a weekend getaway location. WiFi is great for those to whom that is important.

As you can see from the photos, we are surrounded by redwoods. Old California still alive and thriving here. Unspoiled beauty from the redwoods to the ocean. This place feels very remote, but is minutes away from many activities.
