Northern cabin in the middle of the nowhere, but close to everything. This is right on the southern boundary of Wilderness State Park. This nearby park offers miles of shoreline, hiking trails and thousands of acres of unspoiled wilderness to explore. It feels like you're in Alaska up there, but it's only about 15 miles to Mackinaw City/Mackinaw Island ferries for plenty of fun activities, dining options and shopping. It's also only 3 miles to Sturgeon Bay to enjoy some of the best scenic dunes and sandy beaches on Lake Michigan.
The cabin is on a private road with a 10 acre lot in the northern hardwoods. It offers modern amenities including satellite tv, a fully equipped kitchen with a gas stove, and full bathroom. There is a cozy wood burning stove inside, charcoal and gas grill, and a fire pit out back to enjoy an evening campfire under the stars. An outdoor cedar sauna was recently installed right off of the back deck. It's a perfect place to relax and warm up on a cool night after a fun day in Northern MI.
Less than 5 miles away is McGulpin Point Lighthouse and the Headlands International Dark Sky Park- a property recent designated as one of only six International Dark Sky parks in the nation -- making it a bastion for stargazers.
There are 2 bedrooms upstairs, one with a queen sized bed and one with two twin beds. There is also a couch in the living room. The kitchen offers plenty of room for preparing meals and the dining area has seating for 5. Clean linens and towels are provided at check-in. We recommend bringing your own beach towels and blanket if you'll be enjoying a day at the beach.
Bring your kayaks or canoe to explore O'neal Lake. Access to this small wilderness lake is only a mile from the cabin. There are no homes on this lake, just an abundance of wildlife including bald eagles, osprey, loons, hawks & more.
Please let us know if you have any questions. We hope to see you soon. Thank you!
