About Robin Smith
I was born and raised in Marquette, MI here on this property. I am a licensed hairdresser, licensed Massage therapist and certified Yoga teacher through yoga alliance. My goal here is to turn the main house into a healing retreat center. It was a bed & breakfast when I was growing up, so I "learned the ropes" from my mom and plan to take the legacy on, adding a few amenities to offer to our guests, such as personalized yoga classes or massage, or couples massage. This is a great place to stay if you are looking to engulf yourself in peace and beauty, somewhat disconnecting from our normal everyday busy lives. Our paradise is too magical not to share with the world.
Robin Smith purchased this Cottage in 1924
Why Robin Smith chose Chocolay charter Township
On Lake Superior, on the snowmobile trail, back country cross country skiing, fall colors, peaceful get-a-way.

Great time. Place was nice and the owner made us feel welcome. We would return. Lots to do in the area.
Always enjoy staying at this beautiful property and Robin is a gracious, thoughtful host.
This is the third time we've stayed at this lovely beach house and enjoy it every time. Highly recommend!
This property has an amazing view with amazing hosts❤️
We are from the city. Escaping to the North is a passion of my husband and I but we are not able to do this often. We were able to arrive and walk into this cozy property and have all the comforts of home. Just a few hundred feet from our rental was an all sandy shore along Lake Superior- complete with bear tracks one of the nights we stayed and cougar tracks twice. The sunsets were gorgeous to say the least! You won’t be disappointed!
Fun and relaxing
Quaint cottage on beautiful, sandy private beach. Perfect for swimming, kayaking or sunbathing. We enjoyed being close to Marquette and all it has to offer. Teens loved the cliff diving at Presque Isle Park! We had campfires on the beach and the hosts were gracious and kind. Just the right size for two adults and our kids stayed in the loft-a perfect summer getaway.
Cute carriage house with a beautiful Lake Superior beach
My family and I really enjoyed our stay here. Our hosts, Robin and Joshua, were amazing! Incredibly attentive and Robin promptly answered any questions we had. Bonfires at sunset on the beach are a must up there. We brought our paddleboards with us and my sister and I loved taking them out when the water was calm. The surrounding area is great, black rocks, dead river falls, and Marquette are all great places to visit. I loved that I could bring my dog with us, she enjoyed the beach and the home as well. We were definitely satisfied with our stay!
We are so happy you enjoyed your stay! you have an amazing family. We were happy to host the five of you! Hopefully we will see you again in the future!
Pretty and "Pet Friendly," Relaxing Retreat
This property is in a very pretty and relaxing setting, just a short walk from the beach. The views and sounds by day and night are calming and we truly appreciated being able to bring our dogs (there is a pet cleaning fee). Robin and Joshua are friendly and responsive and go out of their way to make sure guests have what they need. But you may want to bring some extra bottled water if you drink a lot of water, as what you get from the sink is well water and salty. They have a water cooler in the house for use and we went through a couple jugs pretty quickly since we were hiking every day.
We stayed here for our anniversary and also while visiting our daughter at NMU. If you are going into Marquette, it's a lot of driving back and forth, and about a 20 minute drive to get into town and the shops, restaurants, etc. We loved Sweet Water Cafe for breakfast and the Steinhaus and Lagniappe were good for dinner. Munising is not too far the opposite direction if you are looking to try restaurants and sites away from Marquette.
Definitely make time to walk down the beach and see the eagle's nest, drive to Pictured Rock's Lake shore and hike Hogback Mountain and Dead River Falls. Especially in the Fall.
We enjoyed sitting on the deck at night and viewing the stars and also the fire pit outside where there was plenty of wood. We also appreciated Robin's attention to details on things like coffee filters, hangers, super soft-clean sheets, a lot of extra pillows and towels in the house. Thanks for a very nice and relaxing week in a lovely home-away-from-home!
