About Michelle Kriss
I'm a retired naval officer and licensed engineer with a passion for taking something ugly and making it beautiful. The pic above shows my husband and me before a Tough Mudder. Sums us up, 'go big or go home.'
Michelle Kriss purchased this House in 2014
Why Michelle Kriss chose Emporia
Blame it on HGTV Rehab Addict - I became interested in older homes. After toying with the idea for a while and looking at many homes, I found this one. From the pictures it looked like it had awesome potential. Touring it, I found those treasures I was looking for; original, unpainted moldings, pocket doors, french doors, stamped plaster, hardwood floors. Where others saw filth and smelled pets, I saw potential. My husband, daughter and I spent four months making this something we are proud of and would live in ourselves.

Our large family loved this house! It had plenty of space and was exactly what we needed. Michelle was great and answered all our questions. Highly recommend!
I rented the Wayman house for 2 nights for my daughter's Decembe graduation from ESU. We had out of town relatives that were able to stay with us because of the spacious accommodations. It was a very short walk to White Auditorium, which was much appreciated. The kitchen had a large selection ofpans, dishes, service ware, and small
appliances. I definitely over packed! Plenty of parking also for our guests. The house itself was very historic and fun to investigate all of the spaces. Several guests commented on what a fun place it was!
Move in day
The house is huge, well-appointed, clean and HIGHLY recommended for anyone visiting Emporia. Michelle is great to work with. Can't say enough good things!!!
Lunar Kanza Group
This is the 4th year my group of 15 has rented the Wayman House for the Lunar Kanza ride. We love the spaciousness of the house and the ability of so many beds. We love the ease of access to downtown Emporia via bikes, the back porch, cleanliness of the house and the hot water for showers after the ride. This is a great house for a large group.
We love hosting our Oklahoma Lunar Kanza crew! Here's to next year.
Our Stay During PDGA Junior Worlds (Disc Golf)
The listing is accurate and the house was what I expected. The four bedrooms on the second floor worked fine for us, but there were plenty of beds/cots on the third floor for huge groups. The first floor kitchen, dining area, family room and foyer space worked well. Everything we needed was already there (shampoo, towels, plates, etc), it was a pleasant stay and it was conveniently located in the center of Emporia. No problems with neighbors or neighborhood. I would definitely stay here again.
Nice older home with lots of charm!
We would rent here again.
