About the property

House, 4 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 3 Baths, Sleeps 9-13

We welcome you to share in the comfort and beauty of our family home! You can enjoy the breathtaking view from the coziness of the great room through the wall of glass that faces the widest part of the lake. Or you can take in the view from the balcony that extends the length of the house, the screen porch below or from the grass patio at the lakefront.

This special house has two and a half levels -

On the main floor which is easily accessed with a single step from our ample parking area, you will come through a small but well equipped kitchen into an expansive great room with a complete wall of sliding glass doors to view the lake. There is a large stone fireplace, queen sleeper sofa, plenty of other seating, and a TV with VCR/ DVD and satellite, and stereo with CD player. The dining area has large table that seats 8-10. The table and chairs on the balcony can either augment your dining space or allow you to lounge throughout the day surrounded by the trees and the wonderful view. The master bedroom with kingsize bed and master bath are also on this level.

The house's upper level with balcony that overlooks the main floor has 2 bedrooms (one with a queen bed and another with 2 twin beds)and a full bath as well as a closet filled with a huge assortment of board games and puzzles for a variety of ages. There is also a wide array of videos and DVD's for you to enjoy - and lots of good books too!

Our lower level has a game room with queen sleeper sofa, ping pong table, TV with VCR and DVD player, and a bedroom with 3 twin beds, and a full bath. There are also 2 twin rollaway beds and a queen aerobed for those extra visitors.

Step from the game room onto a screen porch with rocking chairs to enjoy the lake and mountain views from yet another perspective.

Ready to go to the lakeside? You will find several adirondack chairs awaiting you on the grass patio with a small perennial garden as their backdrop. Relax there and soak in the views. Or ... sunbathe on the docks or on top of the boathouse. When you get really hot, jump into the water from the boathouse roof or the dock! Between the docks is a very child-friendly swimming area that slopes gently as it becomes deep enough for diving at the end of the the docks and boathouse. Use the dense foam floats to wile away the time as you enjoy the gentle currents of the lake, have a water volleyball game in the swim area between the docks, or use the canoe or kayaks that are available. Or - for nonwater lovers, take a nap in the hammock in the shade. And if you don't want to leave the lakeside, bring water, soda, ice tea or other beverages and stock the small fridge in the boathouse - and enjoy snacks or sandwiches at the picnic table! At dusk you will enjoy wonderful sunsets from the perspective that others from all over the lake come in their boats to see. In the evening, relax by the lake as the moon rises over the water.

Bring your own motorboat or rent one and tie it up on the dock so you can use it to enjoy all that the lake has to offer . Whatever your preference of activity, it is wonderful to be in or near the water.

Make your reservation now because we just KNOW you will love this comfortable, family-oriented home.

Why Lindy Mandy chose Lake Lure

This home was lovingly designed and built in 1965 to be our family vacation home, and we have cherished it since then. Maintaining its character and charm while updating its conveniences has been a fine balance, and it is obvious to all who stay here that this is a special place!

What makes this house unique

The view from our home is one of the most prized on the lake, and while ours in not the largest or grandest house in the area, you will feel totally relaxed and at home here!

Perfect for our family gathering!

  • 5 of 5

This property provided a great background for three generations of family to get together for a long weekend! The house is comfortable, well-supplied, clean and well-cared for, and clearly reflects the owners' love of and pride in their home. We especially loved the board games, ping pong table and...of course, the view can not be beat! We are already planning to come back next year!

Spectacular lake views!

  • 5 of 5

Our party of 2 adults and 6 kids ranging in age from 6-15 had an incredible time at this rental. We spent many hours floating in the lake, spending time in the hammock and relaxing on the porch. The house was clean, well-stocked, and perfect for our family. The views really cannot be beat.Thank you again! We WILL be back!

Great Setup!

  • 5 of 5

Two families (4 adults and 7 kids 14 and under) enjoyed a long weekend at this wonderful Lake Lure home. Our kids spent countless hours on top of the boat house leaping into the lake, while the adults chilled in the adirondack chairs lake side. Dinner was enjoyed on the deck with our beautiful view of the mountain-lake setting. Picture are extremely accurate. The homesite is one of the best on the lake in my opinion. House is a lakehouse. Nothing fancy, but purely adequate. Cons: Wifi goes in and out, kitchen is tight but has everything you need. No central air, but you don't need it 50 weeks of the year!

For runners/hikers, we went on a great trail run at the Buffalo Springs (?) park, just 10 minutes from the house.

Overall, great experience and we would recommend to friends and/or return.

Excellent & beyond what was advertised!

  • 5 of 5

What this house boasts is something hard to describe and not easily achieved: an honest family vibe that dates back many years (to 1969, I think). Nothing fancy but absolutely comfortable, workable, and genuine. We rented a pontoon boat for the week and so besides easy access to good restaurants (and a couple of hidden rope swings!), we had many days of looking at other houses on the lake. Poole Hall is unusual, as far as we can tell, because it has a beach of sorts. The newer houses--luxe as they might be--tend to have their sunning areas on top of a boathouse rather than close to the water, maybe because they are built on less desirable sites. To me, that means hot, hot, hot & a long descent to the water. Poole Hall is also situated so that you don't have a sense of other people around you. How cool is that? We are very glad we chose this property, & we hope to come back next year.

Wonderful Vacation Spot

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at your lake house! It's a great house with awesome perks... like the well stocked kitchen and bathrooms and nice quality (and plentiful) beds, linens, and towels, not to mention the ping pong table, dart board, kayaks, canoe, firepit and fireplaces, adirondack chairs by the lake, and deck with chaise lounge chairs as well as large outdoor dining and conversation other words, lots of nice outdoor seating to enjoy the fantastic lake and mountain views! The wall of windows in the main living area is wonderful and our family of 10 had plenty of room to enjoy time together inside or out. The whole rental process was easy and you were very accommodating with our check-in and out times. We will keep Poole Hall in mind the next time we head to Lake Lure and Chimney Rock! Thank you for everything!!!

Relaxing lake house with an awesome view

  • 5 of 5

Three retired teachers and hubbies spent time this last fall at Poole House. We can't say enough about this awesome lake house. It was very relaxing, accomodating, with all the amenities listed. We spent many hours on the deck and lower porch enjoying the gorgeous view, changing leaves, and abundant wildlife. Even though it rained 3 out of 4 days, the accomodations of the many board games and ping pong table made this house perfect in rain or shine. The owner , Mindy, was awesome! She is very friendly, and accommodating. We highly recommend this vacation home. We will definitely be renting Poole Hall again!!!
