Wonderful Place to Stay
Welcoming, comfortable, well-appointed home with every amenity. Easy communication and check-in. The hosting family lives nearby and could not have been more kind and helpful. Highly recommended.
Very comfy beds and a perfect quiet retreat to enjoy the Icelandic countryside. It’s within a small drive to amazing sites and still easy to get to Reykjavik. Bring slippers for the tile and concrete flooring for more comfort. It’s a great place to stay for a authentic ranch feel. We had 7 adults and it was very roomy and comfortable for all.
Everything about the Farm House was great. Starting when we arrived, our host Valtyr, could not have been more wonderful. He spent the time to explain to use the family history of the home. The home was warm, beds were comfortable, and the kitchen had all that we needed. He even invited us to walk over to pet his horses. I would recommend this home to anyone. Because of its location, it is relatively close to the Golden Circle and a good launching point to head east to see Vic and hike on glaciers.
Todo en general.
El agua que olía a sulfuro fue la parte de mejora.

Fabulous Farm Stay
We had a fantastic time at the Farmer's Guest House! The location is central and close to the main highway along the south coast of Iceland. There was a grocery store 8km away and we were able to cook all of our meals. Everything is expensive in Iceland so were able to save some money on eating out. The kitchen was very well equipped. The beds were very comfortable and lots of hot water for showers. We also appreciated the washing machine.
The northern lights were amazing! A few tips, you have to get outside to see them. Bundle up and take a walkabout around the house every 15 minutes on clear nights. We saw northern lights covering the entire sky from midnight until 3am. We were lucky and for 3 nights of our week long stay the skies were clear.
Our host Valtyr was a wealth of information offering tips on the best sights to see and where to go.
We were two couples and found the house to be very roomy and comfortable. If you are looking for a dark place to spot northern lights this farmhouse is the perfect location.

About the host
Hosted by Valtyr Valtysson
I grew up in this farmhouse. I live in another house on the same farm with my wife. At the farm we breed sheeps and Icelandic horses.
Why they chose this property
The property was passed down through the generations. The oldest part of the house was built 1912 by my grand father. The rest of the house was built 1950 by my father and his siblings.
What makes this property unique
From the living room there is a view to the Westman islands and the glacier Eyjafjallajökull. Also there is a view to the great volcano Hekla. The location of the house is very convenient when it comes to visiting popular tourist attractions such as Geysir, Gullfoss (Golden Circle) and Landmannalaugar, just to name a few.
