We are proud to be located in theJoyce Country Western Lakes aspiring Geo park Region .

** Please note, the minimum rental period is five nights.


This beautiful ,modern well equipped home is situated in spectacular mountain scenery between two lakes.
It is an ideal getaway for relaxing and unwinding with attractions of hillwalking, and angling on both lakes.
The property is gated and is located between Clonbur and Leenane on the Galway-Mayo border close to the historic village of Cong and on the borders of Connemara.
We have a well stocked dvd library ,book case, board games and a gas stove with real effect gas fire.

Because we are located in the mountains, there is a very limited mobile phone signal.
The house does have Wi-Fi.

We live two hours away and visit the house as often as we can.
I grew up in this beautiful valley and like to return as often as possible.
The house is really quiet and away from it all. It is peaceful, relaxing and cosy.
There are lots of walks and hikes nearby and lake swimming should you wish to kickstart your energies!
The villages of Clonbur and Cong are charming and worth a visit. Clonbur village has a bakery and pubs and a grocery shop.
Tí Bhúrca pub / restaurant in Clonbur often has live Irish music in the evenings ( check social media) as well as bar food.
We are within an hours drive from Galway, Clifden and Castlebar.
The Aran Islands are reachable by Ferry from Rossaveal ( an hour's drive or so also).
We are on WhatsApp and available to answer any questions you may have before and during your stay. Please see the movie ”That they may face the rising sun” it was filmed in the area in 2022 and is really beautiful.

perfect for us in every way

The home was everything we needed: a quiet place away from crowds, one with good day hikes near by, comfy beds, wifi, and a full kitchen. We got all those and more - beautiful scenic views out every window! The house and surrounding countryside are beautiful.

Very pleasant stay

We had a very pleasant stay. The house is very spacious, has very nice views on the surrounding area and is well-equiped. It’s very quiet - you hear nothing but the sheep. Perfect location to explore Connemara. Mary has been very helpful and friendly in all our communication.

A special and magical stay

The property was clean, bright and well presented with plenty of well designed space and we had a delightful stay. The views and surrounding countryside were breathtaking, quiet and restful but with plenty of interesting places to visit. The walk in the leafy laneway was a particular favourite of ours, with only the sheep and birds for company! We were particularly luck to have such fine weather and it made for a full appreciation of this lovely part of the country. This property is highly recommended.

My family and I had a lovely stay at Mary's house in Finny, Ireland. Not only is the home large and accommodating, but the views are spectacular. Mary was also very accommodating by making herself available at anytime if we had any problems. Mary went out of her way to make sure that my family and I had the best vacation experience possible. I wouldn't hesitate to spend another vacation here.

Dream house in a wonderful location

We booked this house on instinct because the pictures appealed to us.... and we were not disappointed. A really nice house, with a very tasteful and homely atmosphere ... We spent beautiful days as well as rainy days wonderfully. The house is so wonderfully quiet that you can simply switch off. The mountains around the house and the Irish soundscape of sheep and other animals is just pure holiday! Mary is a wonderful host with great tips for the region. Thank you very much!

Fantastic stay in a truly magical place .

We stayed with our family here for a week in May. The house is amazing, comfortable and spotlessly clean. It is in a rural location and is very peaceful. We heard the cuckoos and sheep and not much else. The area is simply beautiful and there are great walks and hikes in every direction, even a laneway behind the house that leads up a mountain! We visited Cong village, and walked around the ruins of the abbey and surrounding woodlands, it took our breath away. We did some sightseeing in Galway city and stopped off in Peacockes Hotel in Maam Cross on the way back - well worth a visit for some gift shopping! The shop in Finny village is well stocked for all your needs. The owner communicated well with us before and during our stay, and answered our questions in a timely fashion. I love that we had a "self service" check in , so we could arrive at any time, the keys were left available to us and the information folder was a great help. We hope to come back next year to this peaceful, magical place.

Springtime

Stayed here in springtime with friends and we will definitely be back! The house was as described, found the house using the directions given with no trouble. The house was very clean and had a good stock of basics (salt, spices, tea bags etc). Plenty of cups, plates for everyone which was great as we didn't have to wash them after each use. We were greeted by the host who is from the area and she was able to give plenty of options for walking and hiking- the nicest one we did one morning as the sun was coming up we followed the lane the house is on which leads you to a base of small moutain (about 1km away) the scenery only got better as we went up! This is a great place for anyone that loves the outdoors, on the rainy days we stayed in read books and board games. We had some great daytrips to Cong- a quaint little village, Kylemore Abbey, Galway and driving around Connemara. Nearby there is a little shop which has all essentials and there is a pub a couple of mile away. We were lucky to catch some music there on the sunday night.

Comfortable Quiet Spacious Haven in the perfect location

This house was perfect for us , a family of four . We were away from it all yet only 6 kms from shops and a restaurant in Clonbur . We were more than happy to drive to Westport , Clifden , Connemara National Park , Kylemore Abbey to name a few . Stunning scenery , and then always delighted to return to our warm comfortable welcoming house with all mod cons each evening !! Very happy !!!

Peace and Beauty

Beautiful and peaceful location, lovely views, spacious, comfortable and well-equipped house, big garden. A fantastic area for hill and valley walking, swimming, cycling, music evenings in the local pub, stargazing - just what we like! Our hosts Mary and Hugh were so helpful, easy to contact, and a mine of useful info on local attractions.

Perfektes Haus in wunderschöner Lage

Das Haus ist sehr großzügig und ideal für einen entspannten. Urlaub. Da genügend Bade- und Schlafzimmer da sind, könnte man auch problemlos mit befreundeten Familien dort unterkommen. Die Vermieter sind sehr freundlich und Hilfsbereit. Ich kann das Haus nur empfehlen.

Een ruim en comfortabel huis in een prachtige omgeving.

Het huis is heel groot waardoor het gemakkelijk door 8 mensen bewoond kan worden, mede door drie badkamers, een aparte ruimte met TV, ruime woonkeuken en huiskamer. Wasmachine, droger, bijkeuken, boeken en dvd's: alles draagt ertoe bij dat huurders hier een comfortabele tijd door kunnen brengen. Ondanks de grootte is het toch ook een heel gezellig huis en het biedt prachtig uitzicht op de omringende bergen. De omgeving is erg mooi; er is genoeg te doen om er weken te kunnen doorbrengen. De mensen van de winkel vlakbij zijn heel behulpzaam wanneer dat nodig is. Het enige dat ons tegenviel zijn de hoge energiekosten die na afloop van ons verblijf betaald moesten worden. Wij (met 2 personen) moesten na één week € 106,- betalen voor olie en elektriciteit terwijl we een week ervoor in een ander deel van Ierland slechts € 12,50 betaald hebben. Dat is dus iets om rekening mee te houden.

Grosses Haus, gut ausgestattet, etwas abgelegen und sehr ruhig. Auto erforderlich. Schöne Aussicht.

Schönes Willkommensgeschenk. Die Hausübergabe hat nicht ganz optimal geklappt. Angenehmer Aufenthalt. Im Haus sind die Duschen resp. das Warmwasser etwas sanierungdbedürftig und die Abläufe sollten entstopft werden. Die restlichen Räume und Zimmer sind gemütlich und gut ausgestattet. Wir hatten einen angenehmen Aufenthalt und wurden durch die Besitzer per E-MAIL liebenswürdig informiert und gut dokumentiert.

Traumhaftes Ferienhaus

Nachdem wir von den Besitzern sehr freundlich empfangen und eingewiesen wurden, konnten wir eine Woche entspannen. Traumhafte Lage in einem ruhigen sehr kleinen Dorf mit tollen Wanderwegen direkt vom Haus aus. Auch mit dem Rad haben wir viele Ausflüge in direkter Umgebung gemacht. Angeln am Lough Mask oder Lough NaFooey war auch super und mit dem Auto nicht weit... Wir waren zu viert im Haus und es war super ausgestattet mit viel Platz. (3 Räder, Airhockey, Spiele, DVDs, Bücher, etc.) Wir kommen auf jeden Fall wieder und können die Bencorragh Lodge uneingeschränkt weiterempfehlen.

Schöne Landschaft

Wir waren mit 6 Erwachsenen im Haus. Das Haus ist sehr geräumig und gut ausgestattet. Die Landschaft in und um Finny ist einfach wunderschön. Als Begrüßungsgeschenk stand für uns eine Flasche Wein bereit, welche wir direkt am ersten Abend getrunken haben. Wir haben im Vorfeld genügend Informationen von Mary zur Umgebung und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten bekommen. Dafür nochmald danke.

Wonderful holiday , in splendid setting.

Spent a lovely time in Bencorragh lodge September 2010. The house was exactly as described on the website and even better ! Well equipped with spices, start up supplies of toiletries, shampoos etc . Owners were most helpful and answered all our questions on arrival and gave us lots of useful information before coming. There were lots of interesting books, a decent dvd collection, and board games and also an air hockey table ! The owners tell me they are hoping to have broadband next year which although not essential, will be welcome for people who need to keep in touch. The house was an ideal base for touring to Cong, Westport, Galway, Clifden, and we even went to Sligo to see the tombs at Carrowmore. But if you never leave the area, Finney itself is very relaxing, and ideal for walking, hill walking and using the excellent bicycles (3) which are provided free of charge. We re- discovered our bike legs and cycled to Cong and Leenane. The local shop is only a 3 minute walk away for essentials and they have a lovely tea shop with amazing chocolate "turf" cake. I have no hesitation recommending this lovely house and location, and hope to return soon .

IL BELLISSIMO LODGE

"Questo lodge l'avevamo affittato già a dicembre per la nostra vacanza di 9 giorni in Irlanda. Purtroppo a causa del vulcano islandese abbiamo dovuto spostare le date di una settimana e così abbiamo pernottato solo 4 notti perché dal 1 maggio era occupato da un'altra famiglia. E' un ottimo lodge, grande e con tutte le comodità situato in un posto tranquillo in mezzo al verde tra laghi e montagne. Dobbiamo ringraziare la proprietaria, che abbiamo avuto il piacere di conoscere a Sligo, il marito, la sorella, i proprietari dello shop, l'idraulico che è venuto alle 22,30 per un problema con l'acqua calda ecc. Un'ottima casa vacanze pulita e in un posto stupendo, per una vacanza splendida. Ciao

I come here as often as time and family commitments allow. We only rent the property during the summer and other holidays as we like to enjoy it ourselves mostly. We hope you have a safe and pleasant stay here and enjoy the house as much as we do.
We ensure the property is vacant for at least three nights between rentals to allow for deep cleaning.

I was lucky to grow up in this village and eventually build a vacation home here. We only rent this property at select times of the year as it is used by ourselves in the quieter seasons. This area is Ireland's hidden gem and is not over run by tour buses or camper vans. The area remains unspoiled and is host to many species of wildflowers and birds .There are several walks nearby and also in the villages of Clonbur and Cong and Cornamona. The walk between Clonbur and Cong is well worth the effort .www.coillte.ie/site/clonbur-wood/ .
There are some beautiful walks around Clonbur woods, developed by Coillte, for all levels of fitness. We are proud to be located within the Joyce Country Western Lakes aspiring Geopark area.
Their website is full of information about the amazing geological aspects of this region http://www.joycecountrygeoparkproject.ie it is most informative and you'll be talking about volcanic activity and karst landscapes and marl lakes before you know it!

There is off road parking for several cars. The nearest neighbours are sheep and birds! We have great views from every window, and fantastic scenery in the local area. The house is located within easy reach of the villages of Clonbur and Cong ( where the Quiet man movie was filmed). Cong and Clonbur villages are very pretty and the grounds of the Abbey in Cong are worth visiting and you can stop for a coffee or some retail therapy in the local area.
We are also ideally located for touring Connemara and are within easy distances from Westport and Galway towns.
