About Cynthia Leigh

When circumstances in Canada changed for this family, they decided to pursue a crazy dream to re-locate to the Puerto Vallarta area. They started searching for a property on or near the ocean - not in the city but not too far away where they could hopefully run a small hotel with 10 rooms or less. They found La Posada Pacifica on-line - a 6 suite inn in Boca de Tomatlan and made the journey to come see it. It took 3 years of research and taking care of details, but now here we are!

Cynthia Leigh purchased this apartment in 2014

Why Cynthia Leigh chose South Zone

Boca de Tomatlan fit the bill for us. We are boat lovers and loved the idea of living steps away from the ocean. We also love the village atmosphere. Our son now has the opportunity to grow up in this beautiful place where we know he is safe, active and learning so much more about the world than he would have just living in one place. We don't want the hustle of city life, but we did want to be close to the city for all the conveniences there.

What makes this apartment unique

The Posada is located on the quiet side of the river - away from the sometimes revellers and right on the river less than 100 metres from the ocean. We enjoy accomodations that have an authentic feel of the destination but all the conveniences of home. The kitchen's provide an extra level of convenience, the suites are spacious and perhaps the best part is the large balconies with a great view!

Fantastic jungle getaway on the ocean

  • 5 of 5

We had a great stay at La Posada! Only a short 8 peso bus ride from PV, it was an amazing getaway nestled between the river and the mountains. We walked down the hill into the town and crossed a cement pedestrian bridge that led us directly to the cute yellow hotel. We received a warm welcome from Cynthia and chatted for a bit before she took us to our room on the second floor. It's was awesome, the pictures don't do it justice, and the bed was very comfortable. The kitchenette had all you need (two hot burners, toaster oven, microwave, coffee machine & a full sized fridge). The balcony offered a great view of the town, river and the mountains. Nearby were some amazing hiking trails to different beaches along the shore. We also easily visited the botanical gardens by taking a 16 peso bus. This was an amazing little gem that we found and would come back for sure, they even have kayaks for rent at a very reasonable price. The internet is really weak here, so it is a great place to be unplugged and away from it all, yet more than close enough to take day trips into PV should you need anything. There also is an amazing rooftop patio! Definitely recommended!

Lovely unit, priced nicely, fantastic owner

  • 5 of 5

We arrived at the hotel, were met by the owner's son, and he was great at getting us to our room, and making sure we were comfortable. He even helped us with a couple of places we could get lunch. The owner, Cynthia, arrived shortly thereafter, and came up to the room to meet us. She is a very kind and considerate person, she gave us info about things to do in the immediate area as well as other places on our trip. The room was spacious, well appointed with everything one needs. For dinner, Cynthia allowed us to use the rooftop and grill to cook our Tilapia. The view from the rooftop is spectacular. You can gaze left to the ocean, and right to the hills and trees. We loved our time there and would not hesitate to return; as a matter of fact, we are looking forward to it. Thank you Cynthia, for everything.

Clean and gorgeous, pics don't do it justice!

  • 5 of 5

Place was right on the river and less than 5 minute walk to everything. It's much nicer and bigger, much brighter than the pictures. It was incredibly clean and a great value for the money. The owner Cynthia was great, super friendly and very accommodating. She reached out before our trip with directions, which was great because we had no cell service once we landed in a Mexico. Seriously wish we just stayed in Boca the whole time, thanks Cynthia! We stayed one night on our way to Yelapa and paid more in Yelapa for a dirty, grungy, run down place that wasn't even on the water.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for taking the time to review us! We definitely need to get some better pictures on-line. It's been a big of a struggle due to slow internet speeds, but it's on the top of my list! Glad you enjoyed your stay!

As advertised

  • 5 of 5

This was a very nice little Hotel in the friendly little village of Boca. We used it for the beginning of our journey by water taxi to a place down the coast. Cynthia was very helpful and accommodating. Something to be aware of is that there are lots of village noises at night. Dogs barking and roosters crowing and an occasional truck rumbling by across the river. If you're a light sleeper it may not be for you. All in all a very good value.

Paradise

  • 5 of 5

This is a lovely place of paradise, I would move there is a heart beat. The slow pace of the town is relaxing. There are a lot of trails along the ocean and you can access to seclude beaches.

The room is really nice with a kitchenette and a private balcony overlooking the river.

Boca de Tomatlan

Boca is situated a beautiful hike or kayak ride to some extraordinary Bays and Beaches. Colomitos Bay is a popular destination for a more secluded beach location, amazing snorkelling and the ever popular Ocean Grill. The beautiful white sand beaches of Las Animas are the next Bay over, followed by many other beach towns, private beaches and wonderful day-trip locations. The fishing is plentiful either from on-shore, off one of the plentiful pangas or deep sea fishing. Dolphin sightings are common as well as Whale sightings in the winter months. Boca is the hub for private boat rentals or water taxi's so you can enjoy your own private excursions at a fraction of the price you would pay to join in a group excursion. We have our own scuba diving company here and guided trips are affordable and easy to come by. If you prefer to keep your exploring on-land, the world famous Botanical Gardens are nearby as well as Vallarta Zoo. The hiking trails in the area are breathtaking. If hanging out and sipping a cool drink on the beach is your game, grab a spot in front of one of 5 tasty beach restaurants or grab a beach towel and chair from us and stock your own cooler. For fine dining, Le Kliff offers a lovely menu and a stunning view of the Bay of Bandaras. Puerto Vallarta is an 8 peso bus-ride away or splurge on a taxi for only 180 pesos.
