About Jeff Hamblen

I grew up in Maryland and moved west in 1971 -- Colorado first, then New Mexico, and finally on to Arizona. I met my wife in California and moved her from the Bay Area to the Navajo reservation!! We now live in Flagstaff. Cave Creek is our second/winter home, but we are happy to share. It's also half- way between our two sons -- one at the U of A and the other at NAU. I am retired, and my wife works at NAU, so we are close by.

Why Jeff Hamblen chose Greater Phoenix Area

Why not!!?? We bought it because of the quiet location, great views, and proximity to every kind of outdoor activity (I'm an aging rock climber) as well as Phoenix events. Love the casita and pool.

What makes this house unique

This home has approximately 1,500 SF of outdoor flagstone patios and walkways. The back patio has a view of miles of mountains with a bee-hive fireplace. The infinity edge pool and spa by the detached casita are accessible via a unique concrete bridge over a wash. The thick walls and tile floors keep the house cool -- along with the a/c. Landscaping is lovely; you can cut your own rosemary. The swing in the front garden is a perfect place to read.

The development/ immediate area is a great place to run, hike, bike ride or walk alone or with your best friend.

Because of our homes 3400' elevation, the average monthly high and low temperatures are typically 4-5 degrees lower than Scottsdale. For example, Cave Creek monthly average highs in Dec, Jan, Feb and March are 64, 64, 67 and 73 respectively.

While Scottsdale's are 65, 66, 69 and 73 for the same months. ( I bumped up the difference 2 degrees because the home is about 1000 feet above Cave Creek.)

A Bit of Desert Heaven

Tonto Hills is a special place and this home fit our family of 12 perfectly. The owner is remarkably attentive to every need--even chasing down caterers--and quickly makes right any problems which arise. The home's desert landscaping is spread out with multiple flagstone walkways and the back yard right off the family room is completely fenced which made it a perfect play area for our small kiddos. The outdoor fireplace was used and appreciated during the four, cool November nights we stayed at the home and there was more than enough firewood provided. Thanks Jim for being an excellent host!

Great house the whole family will love!

You'll love this house and the owner is very accommodating who went out of his way to make sure the house met our needs. It's clean, designed so the whole family can enjoy it. If you're visiting family in Desert Mountain but their house can't accommodate everyone....then this is your place to stay.

Beautiful home and amazing location!

This home was just what we needed! The location was incredible! We stayed here and played in Scottsdale (40 min drive) and it was perfect. A place to escape into the quiet desert. The pool was absolutely amazing and Jeff was a call away for any questions we might have had. Definitely would recommend this beautiful home!

One Word: AWESOME!!

From the moment Jeff and I first spoke, he went above and beyond to ensure that our week in his home was AWESOME! We could not have asked for a nicer, more accommodating and hospitable host, a more beautiful setting, or a more relaxing and enjoyable week.

It was all the little details that made our stay so very special: Fresh eggs from his chickens, a bottle of local wine, nearly everything but meals provided.......but the fully stocked pantry and fridge helped in that regard, a dog bed for our German Shepherd, cat box and litter for our Siamese cats, tons of information and resources to make quick work of knowing how to use everything, go anywhere, even directions to the emergency animal clinic, closest grocery stores, churches, etc.

As other guests have said, the photos and description of this home do not do it justice.....it is sooooo much better. The views are breathtaking and we really took advantage of the hot tub, pool, back patio and grill. The house is very spacious, comfortable, has WiFi, and all the other amenities that were the icing on the cake. The casita by the pool, was the most charming little guest house imaginable..........and now I want one for our property in Indiana! That Jeff welcomes pets, both dogs and cats was a huge blessing, (even though we ended up leaving our 2 Siamese cats at home), in that we were able to include our entire family on our vacation.

We will most definitely stay in this home again...........soon!

Wonderful home!

Absolutely loved this beautiful home, and the owner, Jeff, was extremely accommodating. He even contacted us a couple times during our stay just to make sure everything was going okay.

I would highly recommend renting this home. The house is located in a beautiful mountainous area with wonderful views. The home is spacious and super clean. There were 8 of us that stayed for a week in June and we had plenty of room. The house is even better than the pictures. The infinity pool and hot tub were wonderful and there were plenty of pool toys, and even a pool basketball goal. Plus, it was nice to lounge around the pool and watch the wildlife all around us.

The home is located in a quiet neighborhood. We liked being just a little ways away from town, but yet not too far away. It was just a short trip into Carefree and Cave Creek. The home is well stocked. It was nice to make dinner at the house and have a relaxing evening on the covered patio the overlooks the valley.

If you are considering booking a stay at this home, do it, you won’t be disappointed! Our family can’t wait to stay here again.

Beautiful home and beautiful views

We stayed here for four days while we came in town for our daughter's graduation from Arizona State. It was the perfect house to accommodate my whole family. The home was spacious, well kept, and had everything we could need and more. The pool and the yard was absolutely stunning! The owner wasn't kidding when he said that his yard between the main house and the pool house is like a highway for the wild life. Don't worry the bridge and the fencing around the property make it quite safe. A herd of deer would come right into the yard every evening. Also we got to see a javelina! It crossed our path as we were driving up to the house one night. There were many different types of birds too! The patio area off of the main house got a nice breeze in the evening which made for a great place for the whole family to relax and enjoy the views. The owner even left us a bottle of champagne to toast to my new graduate. I will definitely stay here again next time I am in town.
