About the property

Modern, SW Home w/ Super 360' Views Of The Tonto Nat. Forrest & N. Scottsdale

Our property is modern, southwestern style home on 1.7 acres in the Tonto Hills subdivision. It offers a great 360 degree view of the adjacent Tonto National Forest, the surrounding mountains and the "valley of the sun". At an elevation approximately 2400 ft. above the valley floor, the daytime highs are 5--7 cooler than the valley and there is the rare lite dusting of snow, which is gone before noon, in the winter!

The 2700 sq. ft. main house has 2 full bathrooms, three bedrooms and large office which easily converts into a fourth bedroom. the master bedroom has a king bed. The two other bedrooms have queens and office has a day bed which pulls out into two twins. The 564 sq.ft pool house has another full bath, two twin beds and just a few steps from pool and and spa. The entire pool /pool house area is surrounded by a 5 ft. tall security fence. There are 3 roomy, comfortable covered flagstone patios framed with imported Castle Rock stone columns, and exposed wood beam ceilings. The main house has two indoor fireplaces and a beehive fireplace on the back patio. The pool house has another indoor fireplace.

About Jeff Hamblen

I grew up in Maryland and moved west in 1971 -- Colorado first, then New Mexico, and finally on to Arizona. I met my wife in California and moved her from the Bay Area to the Navajo reservation!! We now live in Flagstaff. Cave Creek is our second/winter home, but we are happy to share. It's also halfway between our two sons -- one at the University of Arizona In Tuscon and the other at Northern Arizona University (NAU) in Flagstaff. I am retired hospital CEO. My wife still teaches at NAU.

Jeff Hamblen purchased this house in 2014

Why Jeff Hamblen chose Cave Creek

Why not!!?? We bought it because of the quiet location, great views, and proximity to every kind of outdoor activity (I'm an aging rock climber) as well as Phoenix events. Love the Pool house and pool.

What makes this house unique

This home has approximately 1,500 SF of outdoor flagstone patios and walkways. The back patio has a view of the mountains around the region. It also has a bee-hive fireplace. The pool and spa and pool house are located on the west side of the arroyo that runs thru the property to take full advantage of the view south. they are accessed from the main house via a unique concrete/stone bridge over a wash. The thick walls and tile floors keep the house cool -- along with the a/c. South west landscaping complements both the front and back patios. The swing on the front patio is a perfect place to read. The fresh herbs grow on the back patio..

The development/ immediate area is a great place to run, hike, bike ride or walk alone or with your best friend.

Because of our homes 3400' elevation, the average monthly high and low temperatures are typically 4-5 degrees lower than Scottsdale. For example, Cave Creek monthly average highs in Dec, Jan, Feb and March are 64, 64, 67 and 73 respectively.

While Scottsdale's are 65, 66, 69 and 73 for the same months. ( I bumped up the difference 2 degrees because the home is about 1000 feet above Cave Creek.)

Magical Stay

  • 5 of 5

Beautiful home, beautiful property, beautiful pool, and last but definitely not least, incredibly beautiful view, awe inspiring in fact. We had an amazing time staying here and close to the charming towns. There is plenty of hiking and nature to explore very close by. 10/10 would come again. The owner was very responsive whenever I had a question for him. Just a great experience.

Beautiful place, beautiful scenery, perfect getaway!

  • 4 of 5

This place is serene and calming. It is near to main attractions, nature, food, etc, with beautiful views and comfy living conditions! The pool and hot tub setup is impressive, but cold, and any heat / gas is an added cost, probably worth it but time was of the essence for us and w didn’t want to mess with it, so had to forego the water hole this trip. The property owner is very responsive and helpful. Overall, very pleased with this home, tranquility of surroundings, and local charm!

Foothills near Denver, Co.

Awesome property.

  • 5 of 5

The outdoor spaces and the view are some of the best we have stayed in. The Fire Kiva works very well and provides a wonderful atmosphere on the cool desert nights. The pool, pool room and Hot Tub are well above similar properties. Another couple would love it with a Queen bed in the pool room. As is, it is perfect for young families.

Plenty of room in the Master for a chest of drawers at the entry wall to drop your keys and for extra storage for extended stays. The middle of the walk-in closet has room for drawers also.

Privacy in a picturesque setting

  • 5 of 5

The property is perfect. So private and pleasant. Everything you need is there. Lots of instructions for any situation you encounter. Great house layout for more than one family. The house has beautiful views and feels extremely private. Jeff was so friendly and made sure we had everything we needed. A perfect spot we hope to enjoy again.

This property was just as we expected and BETTER! We arrived much later than planned due to flight delays, but Jeff had everything ready and waiting - including a dozen FRESH eggs from his chickens. This home is clean, comfortable, casual, spacious, and well maintained = a real winner. We were traveling with 2 teen grandchildren and their parents, but this property had plenty of fun for everyone. The ping pong table was a big hit as was the pool basketball, while others enjoyed the peace of the patio. We wanted to be away from the urban feel of Phoenix and enjoy the desert landscape - and this property delivered BIG TIME! We hope to repeat this trip with two more families in future years and would make this home our first choice again. The owner is great to communicate with and very responsive - SUPER STAY!!
