Coming to sunny Colorado? We'd love to have you as our guests! We are conveniently located in a quiet corner of beautiful SE Denver near to both the Colorado and the Yale Light Rail Stations which enable easy access to downtown Denver and the Denver Tech Center. And if you have your own vehicle, we're just 10-15 min. to downtown Denver and about an hour to the front range peaks of the Rockies.

The guest quarters consist of a 950 sq. ft. fully-finished and furnished basement apt. w/ semi-private entry, 2 spacious bedrooms - one w/queen-sized bed and the other with three comfy twin beds(plus another twin bed in the living room so it sleeps 6 people), closet and dresser space, 1 bathroom with large walk-in shower, cozy kitchenette, your own large living space with a wood fireplace, Wi-Fi, TV and DVD player and an extensive library. Common areas include the main level kitchen, laundry, back porch and beautifully landscaped yard as well as off-street parking.

We supply our guests all bed linens and blankets, pillow cases, towels, wash clothes, toilet paper, paper towel and kleenex.

The neighborhood is quiet and safe with no through streets or traffic. We are located just 3 short blocks from the 88 mile long Highline Canal bike path which connects easily to the Cherry Creek Bike path. Also, the University Hills shopping district is just a few minutes away by car or bike.

I've lived here for many years and love this area because it is so quiet and safe yet has easy access to downtown, restaurants and local bike paths. And we are only 15-20 minutes by car to the foothills, less than an hour to Boulder and 1.5 hours away from some of the best skiing, snowboading, hiking and mountain climbing in the world.

Guest Access

Guests have full access to the entire 950 sq ft. beautifully finished rental unit as well as to the main level kitchen, laundry, back porch, barbecue grill, and garden.

The guest quarters are in our fully-finished and furnished basement, not on the street level of the house. We are not offering the entire house for rent, just the finished basement. We encourage our guests to come up to the main level kitchen to cook if they so desire, and also use the laundry facilities (which are also on the main level as well, just next to the entrance to the guest quarters entrance off of our back porch.) The guest quarters entrance is accessible via a lighted pathway that goes from the driveway out front along the north side of our house to the back porch. It's also worth noting that there is a short flight of stairs that goes down to the guest quarters.

About Vivian Nakachima

I'm a Brazilian-born actress, writer and Portuguese medical interpreter and my best friend Tom is a professional portrait and landscape painter. For many years he was a guide in the desert Southwest, Rockies, Swiss alps and the Pamir mountains of Tajikistan. I have lived and traveled extensively throughout North and South America and Europe and am fluent in Portuguese, Spanish and English. We both enjoy playing the guitar, x-c skiing, canoeing, photography, reading books and adventures. I grew up in Sao Paulo, Brazil and am a vivacious yet easy-going, private and endlessly curious person.

For the past few years we had great experiences hosting Airbnb guests. We've met so many good and interesting people. There's nothing more enjoyable than making a guest happy at a space you prepared for them with love and care.

Comfy home away from home!

Vivian's home and hospitality were just what our family was looking for. Her basement hideaway was a cozy, comfortable place for a restful, relaxing vacation. Great location! We loved being so close to the wonderful HighLine Canal running/biking trail. Lovely to get a bit of nature in the heart of Denver. Vivian's backyard was a wonderful place to entertain and relax.

Hospitality as an art.

The location is ideal and simple to GPS to the site. What separates this from the mother's would be Tom. It is an art to give something to make the experience or life into something. It is a rare person that you will meet in this particular place and person in Tom. What a privilege to have been his guest and to have meet this artist.

Great home-away-from-home!

I really enjoyed my week in Denver. The basement apartment was cool and homey, clean and comfortable. Tom is a wonderful host, generous with his time and resources, and very helpful. If I'd had more time I would have explored the extensive bike path that is easily accessed from his house.

Our host Tom handled communication very well, was very nice and accommodating. The downstairs apartment was very well equipped and cozy. Convenient location in Denver. The master bed was quite comfortable. We would definitely stay there again.

Perfect stay for family!

We have stayed with Tom and Vivian twice already and both stays were absolutely perfect. Their place is retro and cozy. Our adult children enjoyed all the decor in their apartment which brought them back to grandma's time. It was a memory lane stay, which we enjoyed felly. The beds were very comfortable and the entire apartment was just perfect for us. In one occasion my mom from Mexico came with us and she was able to communicate with Vivian in Spanish! That was a plus. The back yard is so pretty too. We had lunch outside several times. Even though we were in Denver during a heat wave, because the apartment is in the basement, it was cool at all times. Tom is very welcoming and helpful in giving advice to anything and anywhere. This was a perfect stay for our family and very close to the University of Denver where our son was attending. Freeway is just a block away yet we

never heard the noise! It was a very pleasant stay. We highly recommend this place for anyone!

Our stay in Denver was delightful. Tom's rental unit was very clean and comfortable. We especially enjoyed evening relaxing in the flower-filled back yard. Tom is a grand host, available for questions or concerns and is a fount of information for activities / opportunities in the Denver area ... and beyond. We took advantage of his suggestions and had a grand Utah hiking adventure! We will certainly rent from Tom for all Denver visits to come.

This is mainly a residential district located 7 minutes due east of the University of Denver. We are just 3 blocks west of the 88- mile long Highline Canal bike path that connects nearby to the Cherry Creek Bike path that leads to downtown Denver. We are just a couple of minutes away from both the Light Rail to downtown Denver and to I-25, which allows travelers easy access to all of the front range communities from Wyoming south to the Colorado New Mexico border.
