Overview

About the property

Private Hottub with View on Organic Farm

Tucked in the hills of San Diego, Morning Song Farm is a great centrally located getaway destination. The 4-room suite has it's own entrance and is completely separate from the main farmhouse. Relax in the hot tub and enjoy the quiet.

The Space:

Queen bed, walk-in closet, small living room and beautiful limestone bathroom with all the basics waiting for your arrival. Completely private with a vintage Chambers stove in the kitchen off the living room. Full size refrigerator stocked with organic breakfast items, bottled water, snacks and organic fruit from our farm when in season. Flat screen TV with decent DVD collection, no outside service. Coffee maker with coffee, toaster, juicer, microwave waiting for your enjoyment. Hot tub with jets for your private use just steps from your door.

Guest Access:

Great parking, just drive right up to your door. Walk the farm during day light hours, or enjoy a moonlit stroll. Excellent wifi here. The Oaks Restaurant is a couple miles away and is a rural destination for breakfast, lunch or dinner. Temecula Creek Inn is a few miles away and offers a beautiful wedding venue as well as a romantic restaurant and full bar with stunning views of their water features and beautifully maintained golf course. Not far from our front gate is Over The Rainbow horse interaction, Roadrunner Winery, and Kenny's U-pick Strawberry Farm.

Interaction with Guests:

We travel a lot too, but when we're on the farm, we love to enjoy our guests' company if they're so inclined. Just ask if you have questions about what to see or where to go, there's so much to do in our neck of the woods! We always respect our guests' need for privacy.

The Neighborhood:

Little known, even to San Diegans, Rainbow, California is adjacent to Fallbrook and is right off the I-15 freeway, yet our farm seems like it's miles away from the city. We're one exit south of Temecula's Old Town District and walking distance to the Roadrunner Winery. Only a few minutes off the I-15, we're freeway close. 40 minutes or so to Oceanside's beautiful beaches and Carlsbad's flower fields and Legoland, and an exit south of Temecula's wine country tours, right in between San Diego and Los Angeles renowned attractions. Twenty-five minutes or so from Cal State San Marcos University, thirty-five minutes or so from San Diego Wild Animal Park in Escondido and a little over an hour to Seaworld and world famous Balboa Park. The local farmers' market is on Saturday and is 15 minutes away in Old Town Temecula...a destination in itself. We're one exit south of Temecula. Be sure to check out Temecula Olive Oil Company's tasting bar if you find yourself in Old Town. Temecula has a number of vineyards eager to showcase their wines, and if you book early enough, hot air ballooning is a local wine country favorite.

About Donna Buono

This is as tough as a job interview. Who am I? I really enjoy meeting different people, and count myself lucky to get to share this little slice of paradise with lots of well traveled guests. A confirmed Foodie, my original interest in growing things was for my own table. So a lot of what we grow here at Morning Song Farm is rare and unusual; dragon fruit, mulberries, macadamias, guavas, loquats, sapote, Carissa plum and kumquats. My shelves are proof of my eclectic tastes, including organic gardening books, mediation, political history, economics.

Aesthetics are important to me, I've worked hard to transform our farm into something it's an ongoing fight against the dark forces of weeds and derelict farm equipment. Friends say staying here is very relaxing, the skies are often filled with stars you can't see in the city, and although city-close, it feels like we're far, far away. I need that solitude, as many of our visitors will attest to, it's restorative.

Donna Buono purchased this farmhouse in 2001

Why Donna Buono chose Rainbow

The farm property that I raised my children on, I fell in love with Morning Song Farm the day I viewed it. Rainbow is a growing farming community, with a u-pick strawberry farm just down the street, and Roadrunner Winery in walking distance. We're happily located in the center of Wine Country, with wineries both a few minutes north of us in Temecula, and wineries a few minutes south of us in Fallbrook.

What makes this farmhouse unique

Only a few minutes off the I-15, we're freeway close. 40 minutes or so to Oceanside's beautiful beaches and Carlsbad's flower fields and Legoland, and an exit south of Temecula's wine country tours, right in between San Diego and Los Angeles renowned attractions. Be sure to check out Temecula Olive Oil Company's tasting bar if you find yourself in Old Town. Bottom line, we would stay here again.

  • 4 of 5

The farm is a little remote, which is a nice thing that has its advantages and disadvantages. For example, the entertainment is limited to a DVD player or whatever you pull up on WiFi. At the same time, you truly get your privacy. You do have to fix your own breakfast. Six fresh eggs, begals, cream cheese, butter, and fresh fruit are all provided. The bed was comfortable, the bathroom is large, and the rest of the house is cozy. Overall, a great stay.

Owner's Response: We’re always happy to hear that guests have enjoyed themselves and the privacy that our farm offers! So that no one reading this review might expect a “remote” location, Morning Song Farm is in no way remote, unless one considers not being in walking distance of a 7-11, “remote.” We are 2 miles from a major interstate freeway, walking distance to Roadrunner Winery, a couple miles from the well-reviewed Rainbow Oaks Restaurant, and less than 10 minutes from the world class Pechanga Casino. We’re within 10 minutes of two golf courses, and Temecula Creek Inn’s glass-walled, Cork Fire Restaurant, as well as a short drive from the town centers of either Fallbrook or Temecula, offering wine tours, ballooning, night life, antiquing and more. Guests come here to unplug, relax, and soak up the farm experience while enjoying all that the surrounding area offers.

Wonderful farmstay!

  • 5 of 5

The hosts were so gracious to us! The eggs provided for breakfast were very fresh and tasty. The produce that we bought was farm fresh and very flavorful. I liked meeting Carl and all the other goats. I got to feed the chickens and the alpacas. Donna and Lance were very attentive to us. The romantic farmstay was very cozy and warm on a very chilly day! Thank you for having us. We hope to come again, if anything, just to order more of your flavorful produce. The macadamia nuts were exceptional in my cereal this morning!

Awesome view

  • 4 of 5

Morning Song Farm is a lovely getaway from the city, gorgeous view of the valley. We enjoyed coffee on the patio, feeding the alpacas and the chickens and watching the peacocks. Home fresh eggs and fruit were great. It’s about 15 minutes from wine country which we really enjoyed.

Favorite vineyards were Doffo, Lorenzo, Gershon Bachus and Hart.

Favorite restaurants were Gourmet Italia and The Goat and Vine. In Fallbrook we loved La Caseta. Fun stay.

Great place to get away!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed recently. We found it totally relaxing. From our leisurely strolls down to the chickens, to hanging with goats, to just relaxing in the unit. Throw a lovely hot tub in the mix and we were set. If you like to hike, we did the Santa Margarita Ecological Preserve. It was great too, just be ready to do some water crossings. We stayed 2 nights. One night we ate at Rainbow Oaks Restaurant. Great food, huge portions. The second night we used the stove. We like to cook so learning to do it on that stove made it more fun for us. We are looking forward to getting back here and maybe even trying out the other units. The owners were incredibly nice and accommodating. Can't wait to book this place again!!!

An amazingly lovely stay!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I loved our stay at Donna's farm, in the Romantic Farm Stay house. It was wonderfully peaceful and quiet, and the organic veggies and fruit and eggs from the farm were AH-MAZING. My favorite part of every day was visiting the alpacas and chickens, and feeding them snacks. I would definitely go back, next time I would stay longer. Thanks, Donna!
