CLIFF HOUSE - Capo Vaticano

Encaramado en un acantilado en la punta de Capo Vaticano, esta propiedad única se encuentra en un recinto cerrado donde la naturaleza se ha conservado de la construcción más que afecta a gran parte de la costa italiana. Años de cuidado y diseño del paisaje meticulosa han transformado este acantilado en un paraíso verde, para disfrutar de unas impresionantes vistas del Mediterráneo y las Islas Eolias. El volcán de Stromboli, directamente al oeste en el horizonte, es el protagonista de algunas de las más espectaculares puestas de sol que jamás haya visto.

El compuesto goza de un acceso privado a la playa de abajo, pero la adición de un niño de nueve pies / de diez pulgadas por 50 pies / de diez pulgadas (tres metros por 15. 5 metros) piscina ha mejorado enormemente la enjoyability de este muy exclusivo villa.

La propiedad consta de una casa principal con Kichen y sala de estar, dormitorio principal y segundo dormitorio, cada uno con baño en suite, y dos casas de huéspedes, separadas de la casa principal, cada uno con un dormitorio y un baño.

Amazing views and peaceful, easy walk into local village.Cliff House says it all - it is on a cliff looking down on a secluded beach.To say the views are amazing doesn’t really do it justice - incredible sunsets with the gentle sounds of waves and access to the most brilliant Chef - Philip, who at a very reasonable cost prepared an unforgettable birthday meal. Incredible stay at this gem

Incredible property perched above some of the most ruggedly beautiful coastline and blue water you’ll ever see. The host was very helpful and responsive, and the staff were wonderful. We had a great time with our family, hiking down to the beach, exploring the surrounding area, and watching sunset from the awe-inspiring front patio. The pool was awesome as well. The place is tucked back in a very charming gated community. We had an amazing two weeks, thank you, Alessandra!

Paradise in Calabria

A remarkable place with a fascinating history and breathtaking views. Staff were lovely. House very comfortable and the photos do not do it justice. Beach and the sea = a dream. Here's a tip if you are there over mid-August holidays: head down to the sea early morning, return before holiday boats arrive around 0930 and sun gets on the cliff OR opt for early evening after 1730. Excellent for snorkelling too. We hope to return.

Everything we had hoped for and then some...

We had the privilege to stay at this incredible villa during our visit to Italy. Alessandra is a wonderful hostess. She left no stone unturned when it came to setting the house up with all of the luxuries of home, plus some. From the moment we pulled up to the property, we were in awe. The grounds are very well maintained and the scenery beautiful. The house itself was amazing. The full size kitchen was equipped with everything a person could need. The adorable outdoor shower was, as Alessandra promised, one of our favorite features of the home. The best part though was the terrace -- the views of the sea with Mt. Stromboli looming can't be described. We felt bad that we did not spend more time exploring the area around Capo Vaticano but we just did not want to leave the property -- certainly there was nothing we could see that was more beautiful than the view from that terrace.

Wonderful location

Our family (8 persons) travelled the first time to Calabria this August 2018 for two weeks and we fully enjoyed our stay at the Cliff House. Except one short thunderstorm on Sunday after our arrival we had nearly perfect weather conditions so that we could use the terrace for almost every breakfast, supper and dinner. The sight on the sea until Stromboli is overwhelming. The stairs to the beach first were a challenge, especially upstairs, but it was getting better day by day. On the second Sunday we did a day-trip to the Lipari Islands. Over all it was worth it although the sea was a bit wavy and so several passengers (including me) became a little seasick. But we saw dolphins and especially the stops at Volcano and Stromboli were quite impressive. We bought our foods only once in a big supermarket and then mainly by local producers and in local stores. That's how we got to know the surroundings. All the staff were very friendly and helpful, especially Anna. We can imagine to come back to the Cliff House for a second stay, perhaps already in 2019. It's a phantastic location to leave the daily routine behind.

What a treasure this Cliff House property is! If you’re looking for an amazing place to vacation in Calabria with extensive, incredible views of turquoise water and stunning landscape, look no further.My favorite thing among many favorites is the view of the Mediterranean from the incredibly designed pool. I hope very much to return over the years, as long as it remains available to enjoy.

Alessandra and her staff were amazing hosts. The house was more wonderful than the pictures described. We expected to be driving around the area and exploring other beaches along with Tropea, but the house and the semi-private beach was so amazing we had no desire to leave. We did take one day to rent a boat and explore the coastline but we quickly discovered that our beach was one of the nicest in the area. When we finished our rental we had one night in Tropea and we could not stand the crowded beaches there! We have been spoiled by the amazing location of Cliff House. A public beach will never be the same. Thank you to Alessandra, Anna, Teresa and Yuri for your wonderful hospitality!

The property is unique in its natural setting, common areas, views, gardens, pool, taste - it is very uplifting and beautiful. The owner is very responsive and the two women who come frequently to help tidy and clean are both very kind and efficient. Our group of 6 had a wonderful time. Easy to drive into Tropea. The driveway is a bit steep so try to get an automatic transmission just for ease and the best nearby grocery for us was CONAD. It is warm in the kitchen in summer but we very much enjoyed cooking and serving our vegetarian/vegan dinners on the terrace - tremendous views and gorgeous sounds of the surf, wind and the birds. Thank you for a lovely stay

Can’t say enough about the beauty of this villa. We had an amazing trip with our family. Capo Vatican Is a charming village and we also enjoyed a day trip to Tropea. We walked down the the beach every day which was lovely and exercise enough for the day! Hope to go back soon.

Een fantastisch mooie plek

Deze woning ligt op een fantastisch mooie plek. De woning voldoet aan alle wensen en het uitzicht is adembenemend. Inchecken en contact tussentijds is goed geregeld en vragen worden snel beantwoord. Thuis laten koken door Phillip is een echte aanrader. Naast dat hij erg lekker kookt, is het ook nog eens een zeer aardige man die niet om een praatje verlegen zit. Het strandje beneden is heerlijk en de trap er naar toe is even een uitdaging, maar is goed te doen met een aantal rustpauzes. De directe omgeving is niet veel bijzonders (buiten kleine supermarkt en pizza's) maar op een half uurtje rijden is er van alles te doen. Kortom: een heerlijke vakantie op een zeer bijzondere plek.

É stata una bellissima vacanza, la proprietà è incredibilmente bella, non lussuosa, ma con stile. Il giardino curato con amore, la cucina attrezzatissima, la spiaggia e il mare mozzafiato, ai 400 gradini ci si abitua. Le cene sulla terrazza che ci hanno cucinato lo chef Philipp e sua moglie Antonia erano il puntino sulla i. La proprietaria ha risolto un piccolo problema tecnico in tempi brevissimi. Torneremo!

Calabria's most breath-taking view !

If you are the book-reading, nature-adoring, food-loving kind of person I have good news for you: this is it! The cliff house is as good as it gets. I don’t want to add much more since the preceding reviews covered it all except two things: COViD was not a problem at all. The Italians turned out to be far more disciplined in that regard than the Germans - wearing their mouth and nose cover (elegantly called mascherina) even on the street strolling down the corso in Tropea. All shops and restaurants were open and as long as you wore the mascherina and kept your distance it felt very safe and at the same time normal. Secondly we want to mention the wonderful evenings we were lucky to indulge in when Philip and Antonia cooked for us. Enjoying their cuisine on that more than wonderful veranda at a long table with family and friends was a definite highlight of our stay. We were seven guests of different ages and all of us loved it. We are counting the days to come back…

Wunderschöner Urlaub

Das Cliff-House ist ein absoluter Traum. Der Ausblick ist gigantisch und es ist mit viel Liebe zum Detail eingerichtet. Das Highlight ist natürlich der private Strand. Wir waren im August und die benachbarten Strände waren regelrecht überfüllt. Aber wir lagen teilweise sogar alleine am Strand. Die Treppen sind überhaupt kein Problem, sie sind betoniert und daher sehr einfach zu gehen. Vielen Dank an Alessandra für die hervorragende Betreuung. Immer wenn wir etwas benötigen war sie da. Wir kommen wieder. Rüdiger

A fabulous setting that can’t be beaten - the wonderful beach, incredible sunsets, gorgeous pool and the rare combination of a secluded setting but with shops and amenities in easy walking distance. Alessandra helped us every step of the way and made the holiday really easy and therefore enjoyable.

We were two families staying at this property for a week. It was simply fantastic. The location and the view is the most stunning you can imagine. Spectacular

We had a wonderful stay at Cliff House. Alessandra was fantastic, helping to guide us from the airport to house and checking in with us after our arrival. The property was absolutely perfect. We were a group of 8 ranging in ages from 20's to 80's and everybody was comfortable and happy. The design of the house and landscape (beautiful flowers and trees) is perfect with little places to get away and relax in sun or shade and with ample space for large indoor or outdoor meals. Speaking of meals, we hired a couple that Alessandra recommended and they prepared two excellent dinners for us. I am still dreaming about the local tuna that we were served. The pool was very nice for those of us that are pool people but the beach was the showstopper - the water was warm and amazingly clear and the steps to and from the beach were much easier than we expected (though the older folks among us sat the beach excursions out). Tropea is an easy short drive away and there were some charming places within walking distance for provisions and pretty pottery. All in all the property and the region exceeded our expectations. Spettacolare!

We had a wonderful week. The Cliff House was the perfect place for our family from all over to come together to swim, eat and relax together. Everything was so inviting, excellently appointed and just beautiful. Wonderful places to eat and play games in the villa, no matter the weather. The people of Capo Vaticano are so welcoming. The beach and sea both incredible, and worth the climb, up and down - we did it some days twice! The view and even the ‘weather watch’ was magical. It is a special place. Thank you, Alessandra, for being a fantastic host, and also to Anna, Cesare and Yuri for looking after us. One week was not enough.

Lieu magique et je pense unique en Calabre

L’acces privatif à la plage, la piscine à débordement, la terrasse avec couché de soleil sur le Stromboli , le BBQ géant et le salon font que cette maison a tout ce que l’on attend d’une maison de vacances en bord de mer.....La résidence est tellement agréable qu’il est difficile de quitter celle-ci pour visiter d’autres lieux.

Unmatched location - wonderful house with fantastic view

After having stayed at the "cliff house" last year we decided to come back every year. We enjoyed our time once again very much: a lovingly furnished interior, a fabulous pool for a swim and the mediterraian at your feet. This year we brought snorkel equipment for the first time and really loved the variety of fish swimming around in the incredibly clear waters. The combination of privacy, view, nature and architecture is a one in a million find. See you next year, Alessandra!

My husband started vacationing in this area in the early 1970's and grew attached to its breath-taking beauty, rich history, and unspoiled nature. Much has changed in the area since then, but within our enclave we were able to maintain the original character of the landscape, making this spot a truly special place on the Italian coast. Being so far South, the house is very enjoyable throughout the year. We don't consider this just a beach house- it's a wonderful getaway where in mid-January you can already enjoy seeing blooming almond trees and wild flowers.

The most unique aspect of this house is certainly its dramatic siting. On the Mediterranean, usually when you see buildings sited like ours, they are either lighthouses, Moorish towers, or religious buildings. A private residence perched on a cliff, and in a place that still offers it complete privacy and seclusion is not easy to find. Our closest neighbors are two families of hawks, and they are extremely discerning creatures...
