About Edwin Hacking

Born in Holland. I came to San Francisco for college to pursue a degree in film making and educational technology. During school I spent most of my weekends kayaking the waters of Pacifica, or hiking and biking its many trails. After graduating decided to move to Pacifica and now all the fun activities are in my backyard! I work as a corporate video producer for companies in the Silicon Valley. More recently I’ve been teaching photography classes from my home. India and Asia are my go to spots for traveling. I love the motto, 'a joy shared is a joy doubled'.

Edwin Hacking purchased this house in 1994

Why Edwin Hacking chose Pacifica

Instead of us bragging about our property, please read the comments from travelers like yourself in the review section. The couples and families that have stayed here will tell it like it is. All positive of course!

What makes this house unique

The town of Pacifica is unique because it is situated only 20 min. from the wonderful city of San Francisco. Sometimes named the Paris of the West. Pacifica is so close to such a famous city, but is still surrounded by the beautiful Pacific ocean on one side and rolling hills on the other. Going south we have other world class destinations, such as Half Moon Bay, Santa Cruz, and the Monterey Peninsula. With Carmel and Big Sur along the way.

Map

Car: recommended

The Apt. is located in a secluded quiet cul de sac neighborhood in the sunny and warm Southern-most valley of Pacifica. This location is a perfect coastal stop for S.F. city-goers, hikers, and surfers. It is a short 5-10 min. walk to get to 3 churches, grocery store, gas station, library, restaurants or the hiking trails of San Pedro Valley Park, the gem of Pacifica. The beaches are about 2 miles west with great surfing spots. Plenty of Mt. biking, hiking, kayaking, golfing, tide pooling, the famous Maverick surf contest is 15 min. away. Tennis and basketball courts all close by. And then there is all of San Francisco to explore!

By car go north 20 min. and explore San Francisco. Go south for the day to visit Half moon bay (20 min), Santa Cruz (1 hr), or the Monterey Peninsula (2 hr). I look forward to sharing this wonderful and unique area with you.

clean, well maintained, quiet setting with great deck. 4.5 stars

  • 4 of 5

Photos accurately illustrate the apartment. The deck is big, has both shady and sunny areas, with lots of birds visiting the deck. Surprisingly private feeling in the downstairs unit. The owners live in the upstairs unit, and there is minor noise from footsteps above. We met Edwin, who we chatted with for a while - he's pleasant, interesting and knowledgeable about the area. Some potential drawbacks, which might not be issues for other people - the bed was delightfully large, but somewhat softer than we like (one of us has a bad back.) If you cook when renting away from home, the kitchen was mostly excellent (appliances, counter space, cleanliness), but pots and pans could use a refresh.

Casa Pacifica - A nice, cozy place

  • 4 of 5

My daughter and I spent a few days in the Bay area to do some sightseeing while in the area for her college visit to Stanford University. Casa Pacifica was a great location given that it was a few minutes from the coast and about 20 minutes from San Francisco. It is quiet and the bed is VERY comfortable. Although we didn't spend much time at Casa Pacifica, except to sleep, we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We never even had the opportunity to turn the TV on - in other words it was a great vacation!

Edwin was very helpful as well. He printed off a document for my daughter that she had forgot to bring with us and provided us with tips on where to dine locally.

We didn't have any complaints and would definitely stay here again should we come back to the Bay area.

The hosts are very accommodating. They even have a Safeway card for you to use when you shop! Great view to watch from a spacious deck. I hope to be back.

Quiet and beautiful location.

  • 5 of 5

Although a five minute drive to many facilities, activities, and the shores of the Pacific, the location of the Casa Pacifica is as advertised, quiet and serene and private.

The owner has a gentle and accommodating spirit. When you stay here you can see and experience the ocean to the redwoods downtown San Francisco in less than an hours drive .
