About Laura Morris-Lloyd
We have been married for 28 years and have 3 children. We are both lecturers in the education system. Having renovated our own home we take a keen interest in old unloved properties and bringing them back to life once more.
Laura Morris-Lloyd purchased this Cottage in 2015
Why Laura Morris-Lloyd chose Caerphilly
I fell in love with Chapel House as soon as I saw the original bread oven and the Christmas tree in the garden. David, on the other hand, took a little more persuading. I watched Homes under the Hammer before attending the auction with my daughter and came home that evening as the proud owner of this wonderful property. However, it needed a lot of TLC. Over the following 18 months we replaced the roof, installed a log burner, central heating and complete rewiring to create a luxurious place to stay. We thought long and hard about the best layout for a holiday let and are very proud of the end result.
What makes this Cottage unique
The stunning views of Caerphilly mountain and the surrounding area can be enjoyed from the personal balcony, leading from the main bedroom. There are numerous walks/activities in the area, many of which are detailed on Caerphilly town is just 15 minutes walk or you can catch the bus which will get you there in 5 minutes. The bus stop for Caerphilly is located directly opposite the front door of Chapel House. Caerphilly Castle Like the famous cheese, the castle has long been synonymous with Caerphilly. This 12th century castle, surrounded by a series of moats and watery islands was the brainchild of Gilbert ‘the Red’ de Clare, a redheaded nobleman of Norman descent. He also built the original Castell Coch, ‘Red Castle’, located the other side of Caerphilly mountain. The Black Cock Inn Telephone 02920880534 You can reach the Black Cock Inn by walking up the hill outside the house. Carry on until the brow of the hill and on the right hand side take the road; this leads directly to the Black Cock. This is a easy 5-10 minute walk but you will need a torch in the evening as the country lanes are unlit. There is beer garden and play area. I would recommend booking. Cardiff is only 15minutes away by car, bus or train.

Lovely cottage, comfortable and clean. Had a lovely stay
We loved the cottage, we stayed for one night when visiting Cardiff. The cottage was clean, homely and in a lovely setting.
The owners thought of everything from ice in the freezer to fresh bread and butter in the fridge.
We would love to stay again.
We had a terrific stay. The cottage is beautifully renovated - - be sure to look for the photo book documenting the renovations.
The views are spectacular and wood stove made for a nice cosy evening.
We also really appreciate the little extras - like having milk and bread provided so we could have breakfast and start exploring Wales.
We highly recommend.
It was a pleasure to host you at Chapel House. We are delighted that you had an enjoyable stay. We hope to welcome you again in the future. Laura & David
A lovely home from home, in an excellent location for so many things on the doorstep.
Great welcome pack and hamper of basics to get us started. The cottage has everything you could need for a comfortable stay, we stayed a week.
Bus service from doorstep either down the hill to Caerphilly or on towards Cardiff and all the city has to offer. Good walks from the door , using an OS map. We tackled the Taff Trail from Cardiff to Brecon in sections, returning to cottage at night. Fantastic walk , so interesting. Weather was very kind and sitting on the balcony for a breakfast coffee was lovely and enjoying the views. Plenty of eating places in the area, spoilt for choice!
A week was not long enough!
