This beautiful timber-framed retreat just north of Augusta was the perfect spot for us and our dog. The house was incredibly charming and comfortable with lots of room both inside and out. The kitchen was well stocked, the beds were incredibly comfortable, and the setting was just amazing. The hosts are exceptionally kind and generous with instructions how to get in and navigate around the house's amenities. We just loved our time there and cannot wait to return.
Grounds and house were great. Wish the weather would have cooperated! We'll have to return in the summer to take advantage of the lake.

Good but could be so much better!
The property was very well-stocked but some of the toiletries and supplies could use updating (soap was crumbly, air freshener was from 2004). There were lots of items leftover from previous stays in the fridge and freezer which was unappetizing. We had some wildlife “fun” in the house with lots of bugs, wasps, and even a poor frog who needed rescuing which led us to believe no one had really freshened things up before our arrival. The floors were also pretty dirty. The gravel road in was very rough in places accessing the property-we had a four wheel drive truck and struggled at points to keep going.
The lake out back was beautiful and we enjoyed it thoroughly! However, large amounts of wasp nests all along the back porch made us uneasy to spend any time out there.
Overall, the house had great charm but the cleanliness was lacking. We understand we were in the woods and a rural setting, but more care to prepare for our arrival would have been much appreciated. A welcome basket was very nice but spiders in the showers were not.
The house was great and the response from our host was first class. The beds an linens were awesome and the kitchen was well stocked. We hope to be back soon
This is a beautiful property, located in a beautiful part of Missouri. It looks like a very old farmhouse, yet the inside is modern. The lake is great and the family caught some fish while we were bbq'ing. Just know that it is a little far away from certain services (Grocery is about 15 miles away). Just come with your groceries and you will love it.
We really enjoyed staying at your property. Everything was either as described or better- including a lovely welcome basket *Thank you!!* - While we were there, we discussed renting again for another getaway possibly next year. The location was just right, not too far from civilization but far enough where everything was very private. I could sit on the back porch ALL DAY and just enjoy the views. Thank you again, and we hope to stay again in the future!
A beautiful, very private weekend retreat. Full access to the lake, swimming, fishing, barbecuing, etc. Owner's very responsive to questions and requests. Thank you for a great weekend!

Awesome Property in Missouri wine country / duck country close to Missouri River
We rented the property for the 25th Anniversary Master National Retriever Club AKC Hunting Test competition held at August A. Busch Memorial Wildlife Conservation Area. The location was awesome half way between Busch Conservation Area and Purina Farms. The wineries on 94 were a special treat. The Defiance Roadhouse in Defiance, MO, was the bomb. Atmosphere was great; staff was greater; food was greatest. This VRBO property is very secluded on a private road and lake. Very relaxing. Someplace we would be willing to return to without an agenda and just hang out. Thank you Pete and Janet!

Nice home and very convenient to wineries
Enjoyed our niece's wedding weekend at this very nice home. Secluded and private, yet convenient to local wineries. Wedding was held at Nobleis Vineyard which is only 2.8 miles from property--very easy drive for the many trips back and forth getting everything ready for ceremony and reception. Weather was too cool to enjoy the lake much while we were there, but we did take a few hikes around the beautiful grounds. It was great to have our family stay all together. Would definitely recommend!

The perfect weekend getaway
My family and I stayed at this beautiful home in wine country to celebrate my mother's 60th birthday. We spent every morning drinking coffee on the dock as the sun rose, shared meals around the dinner table, and caught up with one another around the fireplace in the evening. The views were beautiful, as the leaves were just starting to change, but the water was still warm enough that we could jump in for a refreshing swim. The beds were comfortable and the shower was hot with great pressure. In addition to the house, we also rented the game house which had ping pong table and a special rooftop outlook. The pictures don't quite capture all of the detail and love put into this space. It is a well-kept home and we are happy to have been able to stay here.
