Michael purchased this house in 1949
This beautiful home has been passed down through the generations and lovingly cared for. It is in a quiet location, but close to everything. You will feel right at home as everything you need for an enjoyable stay has been provided for you.
I love the sweeping distant views of the ocean. This is such a quiet neighborhood, yet you can walk less than a block to the best coffee in town and you are centrally located for all the main attractions in the area. We love the fireplace, art work, comfy beds and the special homey touches. A perfect get-away.
I recently had a lengthy, four month stay at this property for work and I must say that while there I wanted for nothing. The owner, Michael, could not have been more accommodating. He told me I didn't need to bring much, and he was right. The property is beautifully furnished and was supplied with toiletries, towels, robes, pots, pans, dishes, silverware, toasters, a coffee maker, a blender, a flat screen TV, a DVD player etc, etc. You will have Direct TV and free WIFI. There was even a cleaning service available that kept the place spotless. It has a beautiful front and back yard. It is close enough to the touristy places but far enough away to be peaceful and quite. Asilomar Beach and Cannery Row are a short drive (or walk) away. It is near good restaurants, grocery stores and hiking trails. Michael knows the area well so if you have questions just ask him. He always makes himself available and will provide you with good advice, recommendations and even road maps if you need. I would highly recommend this place to anyone. Having such a beautiful place and an accommodating owner made the work aspect of my stay all the more easy, and the pleasure aspect of my stay all the more rich. I will definitely be back.
Our three-person family enjoyed this charming and spotless home over the recent holiday weekend. We found it to be very comfortable. We also loved the location, which is close to Asilomar and the walking paths along the ocean there. Michael was a very thoughtful host who filled the home with beautiful fresh flowers and provided valuable information about the area.
The house is as described and is located in a quiet residential area near Asilomar Beach and Pacific Grove's business district. The house has plenty of room for two people; it's very clean, comfortable, and well-stocked. The owner Michael puts out fresh flowers in several places indoors. We enjoyed eating in the breakfast nook with a view of the garden. The owner responded quickly to questions during our stay, and even went to the local hardware store to get a replacement battery for me.
As for restaurants nearby, we enjoyed Red House Cafe on nearby Lighthouse Ave, and had a nice meal with an ocean sunset view at Rocky Point Restaurant about a 30 minute drive to the south.
Be aware that VRBO charges a booking fee. This fee is only vaguely described on VRBO's website, but Michael was able to tell me in advance the amount of the fee. Upon approval of the reservation, VRBO immediately charges the full amount of the reservation and deposit. It's been two weeks since our stay and VRBO still has not refunded my deposit.
This is a very beautiful, tastefully decorated house. The small touches, such as fresh flowers upon arrival and a garden area, makes this house truly feel like a home. The layout is very usable and you get a full walkthrough of how everything works. The office/reading area is nice and well lit.
The owner was more than gracious to help out with things to do and places to see. The location is central and alot of places in Monterey can be accessed in a reasonable amount of time (i.e <20mins).
The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because as a "tech savvy" person, there were no reasonable outlets in the bedrooms in which to charge a phone (I use my phone as an alarm) or any other item you might want beside (I would have used my tablet as there are no tv's in the bedroom). Don't let this stop you from renting here as I know most people probably wouldn't want there phone bedside while vactioning/relaxing.
My husband and I wanted a vacation away from the heat of our hometown and a little fresh ocean air - but we got so much more. When we arrived at our HomeAway rental we were greeted by the owner, Michael, and given a tour of the house and brief operating instructions that made our stay so pleasant. Any questions we had were answered and Michael gave us a nice "heads-up" on where to go and what to see. We were so comfortable and the location was perfect; away from the bustling tourist area, quiet and serene, and just a few blocks from grocery store, bank, restaurants and gas station. The sights in Pacific Grove and the Monterey area are breathtaking and unique - the beaches, trails, parks, downtown shopping and fabulous restaurants. It was a relaxing, wonderful experience and we are looking forward to our next stay. Thank you for your hospitality Michael, you made our visit so special!
The home is older but perfectly suited our needs. It was spacious, assesible to everything on the Peninsula and well equipped. The owner was very helpful and we would stay there agsin
