Wonderful stay at the Quiet Retreat

  • 5 of 5

We (3 adults) had a great time at Michael's quiet retreat at Pacific Grove. The house is nicely furnished and conveniently located to anything you may wish to do in Monterey. We rested well on the queen beds, and found the accommodations very comfortable. The beautiful little garden and outdoor space in the backyard add to the peaceful environment. We were able to wash clothing and fix our own meals when needed. Michael was an attentive and friendly host and made sure our needs were met. I highly recommend the Quiet Retreat in Pacific Grove.

Fantastic Stay in Pacific Grove

  • 5 of 5

My family had a wonderful time at this Pacific Grove location. The house was clean, comfortable, and in a perfect location. The host, Michael, was great. He provided us so much information on places to eat and visit and tips on how best to experience this wonderful area. He was very kind to my family and really made the experience so much better than we could have anticipated.

The house was well furnished and very comfortable. The neighborhood is quiet and peaceful. The location allowed us to quickly reach 17 Mile Drive, the Big Sur, and downtown Monterey without issue. The house has a very nice garden that is well maintained.

I would not hesitate a second to bring my family back to this house and recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet place to stay in Pacific Grove.

Owner's Response: Mr. Curtis Bowers and his family were excellent and courteous quests. They would be welcome back into my home anytime. The boys were very well mannered and behaved as gentlemen. It was exciting and fulfilling for me to be at their service with local information and directions. If you are looking for great travelers to book ; this family is it. A 5 star family !!!

Very warm and inviting. Cozy and clean. Friendly owner

  • 5 of 5

This home is a perfect location for exploring the area. The two bedrooms are roomy and the beds are very comfortable. The house has everything you need including what is needed if you wish to stay in and cook. Safeway and Trader Joe's is a 5 min walk and there are lots of great places to eat locally. Gianni's Pizza was terrific. The dining room table in this home is round and we sat around it playing games until late in the evening. We launched from this location on day trips to hiking in Garlin Ranch in Carmel valley to trips down the coast. We would highly recommend this home. Thanks Micheal for the great hospitality.

Lovely Short Stay

  • 5 of 5

Our three-person family enjoyed this charming and spotless home over the recent holiday weekend. We found it to be very comfortable. We also loved the location, which is close to Asilomar and the walking paths along the ocean there. Michael was a very thoughtful host who filled the home with beautiful fresh flowers and provided valuable information about the area.

Tidy And Quiet

  • 5 of 5

The house is as described and is located in a quiet residential area near Asilomar Beach and Pacific Grove's business district. The house has plenty of room for two people; it's very clean, comfortable, and well-stocked. The owner Michael puts out fresh flowers in several places indoors. We enjoyed eating in the breakfast nook with a view of the garden. The owner responded quickly to questions during our stay, and even went to the local hardware store to get a replacement battery for me.

As for restaurants nearby, we enjoyed Red House Cafe on nearby Lighthouse Ave, and had a nice meal with an ocean sunset view at Rocky Point Restaurant about a 30 minute drive to the south.

Be aware that VRBO charges a booking fee. This fee is only vaguely described on VRBO's website, but Michael was able to tell me in advance the amount of the fee. Upon approval of the reservation, VRBO immediately charges the full amount of the reservation and deposit. It's been two weeks since our stay and VRBO still has not refunded my deposit.

Quaint, Quiet House

  • 4 of 5

This is a very beautiful, tastefully decorated house. The small touches, such as fresh flowers upon arrival and a garden area, makes this house truly feel like a home. The layout is very usable and you get a full walkthrough of how everything works. The office/reading area is nice and well lit.

The owner was more than gracious to help out with things to do and places to see. The location is central and alot of places in Monterey can be accessed in a reasonable amount of time (i.e <20mins).

The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is because as a "tech savvy" person, there were no reasonable outlets in the bedrooms in which to charge a phone (I use my phone as an alarm) or any other item you might want beside (I would have used my tablet as there are no tv's in the bedroom). Don't let this stop you from renting here as I know most people probably wouldn't want there phone bedside while vactioning/relaxing.
