About The Owner

William is a long time Virginia native who always dreamed of owning a cabin in the mountains of Tennessee. After making the decision to follow the family to Florida last year and discovering just how hot is down there, he decided now was the time to find that cabin in the mountains to cool off and unwind. It so happened that he found "Happily Ever After" is everything he was looking for in a Smoky Mountain Get-Away cabin. It's cozy and peaceful and has just enough charm to make you feel at home right away. Now he can look forward to the times when he can return to his little cabin in the mountains and enjoy the cool nights and beautiful views. In the meantime though, he is so delighted to share this little get-away with others and really hopes that you will enjoy it just as much as he does!

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2016

Why The Owner chose East

Coming from a large family that is spread out from Ohio to Florida visiting the part of the family that lives in upper states is a lot easier from the cabin. It also gives us a nice little place away from our homes to meet and enjoy all of the wonderful features that the Great Smoky Mountains offer. There is just no place more beautiful that the area around Pigeon Forge. The area is loaded with things to do so it never gets boring when visiting the cabin. It is always where I want to be... looking out over the mountains and enjoying the peace and tranquility that comes with viewing it all first thing in the morning as the sun peeks over the mountain tops and scatters the mist and then retreats behind the mountains calming the day that was full of fun and laughter.

What makes this cabin unique

You really have to stay the first time to understand the really unique benefits of this cabin. The cabin has the advantages of both worlds. On one hand, you can get away from the stress and busyness of everyday life with the secluded wooded setting in the mountains. On the other hand, you are only a half-hour away from major tourist attractions: Smoky Mountains National Park, Dollyworld, Ripley's Aquarium of the Smokies, and a variety of activities including, but not limited to many different Zip Line, Rafting, and Horseback Riding. Then there is always Hiking and Sightseeing, or just shopping in Gatlinburg, Pigeon Forge, and Sevierville. The cabin offers all of the amenities that you are used to having, such as, internet and Direct TV, and even a land line phone when your cel doesn't get a signal. You get the privacy and independence of having your own little "home away from home" for the sma price or less than what you would pay for just a room in a hotel or motel. It will make coming back to this area so much easier and inviting when you know exactly where you want to stay for the next time.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Never wrote a review before but needed to say that we stayed here last year and loved everything about this cabin. Was disappointed to hear new owners were in town but was pleasantly surprised how nice the improvements were and now we can still come to the same cabin with our little family starting to grow. All the additions were perfect to making our stay even richer and more pleasant. We have stayed in other companies rental cabins but felt we have never stayed in a cleaner cabin nor as comfortable one than this one and that is why we returned again this year. and hopefully will make this our home away from home for many more years to come since we are just a few hours drive away. Thank you for making our stay so relaxing and refreshing.

Great location.

  • 4 of 5

Great location, short drive to all attractions. Well decorated clean though could have used a little dusting. Would stay there again.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. After the summer rush, we did have a nice spring cleaning and all is ready for our next guests. Being in the mountains and esp. in Log cabins the dusting is necessary. This is a great cabin and is very popular and has a lot of repeat guests. We do enjoy each guests comments and use their input to keep on top of things as well. Be sure to keep our phone # handy for your next visit. Thanks Ann & Bill

Very private cabin with a great view.

  • 5 of 5

The cabin was in a very private location and the road getting there was a lot of fun to drive. We knew that most of what we wanted to do would be at least 30 minutes away but we did not mind it at all. One of the best features for us was being able to sit out on the deck and take in the beautiful mountain scenery. Also the privacy was something we really appreciated. There was no one close to us. We couldn't hear anyone nor could we hear any cars and at night there was not a light to see. The inside of the cabin was completely finished in knotted pine. The kitchen had everything we needed to make our own meals. There was a dishwasher that was very noisy to run so we made sure we were not in the cabin when we ran it. The king bed is up in the loft and the queen bed is downstairs in the walkout. The loft does not have a bathroom so if you want to sleep in the king bed you need to walk down a pretty steep set of steps to use the bath. The downstairs has a bathroom, laundry room, queen bed, and the best set up for watching videos and/or TV. As we made our way to the cabin we passed an old looking building with a sign out in front that read, "Preachers Smokehouse." We checked it out and decided we would eat there on our last night. Not only was it 10 minutes away but the ribs and pulled pork was incredible. Sam the preacher visited with us giving us the scoop on the local history making it a dinner to remember. Nothing fancy. Just a great food-fun-fellowship time. We have used Home and Away/VRBO since 1980. We have to say that Ann Gotham was absolutely fabulous to work with making it one of the best experiences we've had. We were very happy we picked the "Happily Ever After" cabin. -Paul & Julie Ratzloff, Minneapolis, MN-

Beautiful, secluded but close enough to everything

  • 5 of 5

Loved this cabin, especially the fact that it was secluded, most say they are but you get there and they are stacked on top of each other. We literally could just barely make out the roof of two cabins through the trees. Everything we could have needed was there, we will definitely use again.

Quiet cabin with a great view

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at Happily Ever After. Our goal was to get away from noise and this was the perfect place to do it. The cabin was secluded and had a great view, especially from the wonderful hot tub! We ate every meal outside at the small table on the upper deck and watched and listened to a variety of birds (including woodpeckers and turkey) playing in the trees. Whether you are wanting a place close to the Smoky Mountains train heads so you can hike and fish (like we did), or whether you want to have easy access to Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge (which we didn't), the cabin makes getting to both easy. The cabin was clean and ready for use when we arrived. There was a book with instructions and recommendations that was very helpful. The kitchen, while small, was equipped with the basic necessities for cooking and eating. There are a few spices in the cabinet, but for the most part you'll want to bring all of your own food/condiment items. We had trouble using the electric can opener to open our large can of Pork-n-Beans and the manual one was so flimsy it didn't work, so be sure to bring you own if needed. :-) The grill is small (think grill you have at a public park), but it worked great for our needs. Owners were very response with any questions we had prior to our visit and we couldn't be happier with our stay. It's a cabin we would definitely stay in again. And if you stay here, be sure to check out the amazing BBQ at Preacher's Smokehouse (a little shack on Pittman Center Rd). The ribs and the pork were amazing!

The pictures do not do the cabin justice.

  • 5 of 5

I've stayed at numerous cabins and this is one of the finer ones. The cabin is on the smaller side, but functional. The drive to town was pretty comparable to the other cabins I've stayed in. I will say that the drive to this cabin was much more enjoyable. No steep inclines or difficult routes. I would definitely stay here again.
