This is a cabin in the mountains and the place is a bit quirky. If this is appealing, we are the place for you! Please review some of the cabin's quirks at the end of the listing. If you have any questions, please ask.

For your stay in the mountains please be prepared for steep driveways, no sidewalks, and during winter potential snow/ice. Carrying chains during winter is advisable.

If you have any questions about the cabin or activities in the Bass Lake and Yosemite areas please ask.

(Depends on weather conditions.)

-Geocaching

-Wine Tasting: Madera Wine Trail.

-Ride the Train: Yosemite Mountain Sugar Pine Railroad and the logger steam train.

Quirky Details:

( a ) Access to Bedroom 1 is either through the outside deck (slider door) or the ‘Jack and Jill’ bathroom. Best fit for Bedroom 1 & 2 are (a) a family with children or (b) guests who would not mind access through the deck or bathroom walkway. During the summer Bass Lake is nice and warm so may not be an issue. During winter, the outside deck may be a bit cold.

( b ) The downstairs has a separate entrance off the deck. (To go between the upstairs/downstairs guests must either access the outside deck spiral staircase or walk the ramp by the side of the house. These are both on the exterior of the cabin.) This can be positive for downstairs guests who would like to retire early from the upstairs activities or just be a bit separate from the upstairs. This may or may not work for groups with small children. (There is a picture of the deck spiral staircase on VRBO for reference.)

( c ) It takes two steps down to reach Bathroom 4 off the Nature Room.

Great Family Retreat

  • 5 of 5

What a wonderful weekend getaway! We went up looking for snow and weren't disappointed! The weather was beautiful by the lake, we took a lovely hike up by angles and devil's falls. Then spent the next day near fish camp at the snow play area. There was still plenty of snow, the kids were able to build forts, snowmen, and have snowball fights. The house was perfect for 3 families with various ages of kids. The kitchen had lots of supplies including spices. There was a separate TV in the bunk room which let us watch different movies for the different age groups. There were even lots of kids movies, cards, and games. The fireplace really heated up the house and made it feel very warm. The owner was very helpful with where to go. The house has a book of maps of trails, and menus from the local restaurants. The downstairs has 2 bedrooms, and 2 bathrooms, plus a living area with a frig. This made it easy for the different families to spread out. We were quite comfortable and hope to go back this summer. It looks like the lake will be just across the street this summer. So it will be easy to walk down to it.

Great Weekend Getaway!!!

  • 5 of 5

It was my very first time staying in a cabin and I did not know what to expect. I packed for anything and everything I thought we would need for our mini family snow day weekend getaway but didn’t expect a family member wanting to bake goodies. Thankfully the cabin came with a fully stocked kitchen (plates, pans, cups, mugs, measuring spoons, baking pans, etc.), clean, well-maintained, and very spacious. In the great room there were board games and a variety of DVDs and books great for all ages. The upstairs was awesome because the living and dining areas were huge and we were all able to spend quality time together playing games and watching movies. The sleeping arrangement makes it easy for traveling with separate couples or in big families - comfortable for 3-4 families easily. It is in a great location, short drive from the shops, ½ hour away from Yosemite, as well a short drive from the lake. The kids had such a great time playing in the cabin and had a blast with their first encounters of bunk beds. Booking was easy and painless, and The Property owner was extremely helpful. She answered all my questions, provided detailed directions on how to find the house, and even had the heat running so it was nice and warm upon our arrival. I would definitely recommend this home to my family and friends. My family and I stayed here for a weekend in mid-December, we had such great time that we are already planning on a trip back this Spring.
