About the property

The Terraces sleeps 6 with 2 full baths

Conveniently located just off route 100 between Stowe, Sugarbush, and Mad River Glen in a pristine forest setting, the Lodge consists of two separate units, the Loft and the Terraces.

Rent both units for your next family reunion!

Five miles from the Heady Topper brewery and Ben & Jerry’s factory, and three miles from Amtrak and Interstate 89, the Lodge is easy to get to and easy to visit.

The Terrace unit sleeps 6 in two bedrooms (2 additional in living room) with two full baths, kitchenette, dining area, patio, and a 300 square foot living room. With 12-foot ceilings, knotty pine walls, stone fireplace, VT Castings wood stove, and big windows overlooking the forest, you find yourself in a lodge, not a condo.

For more information, check out the Crossett Hill Lodge website (http://lengel.net/crossetthill/Crossett_Hill_Lodge/Terraces.html), then come back to VRBO to request a reservation.

Spring is here - come enjoy the trails for hiking along with the fine restaurants in Waterbury!

About Kathi Lengel

We're a recently retired couple. We've both been in education since the early 70's. Jim worked mostly in higher ed (Boston University and Hunter College) while Kathi focused on K-12 as a teacher and principal. Our current work involves consulting with schools and universities around the world as they seek to better use modern technologies in meaningful ways.

We split our time between wintering at Crossett Hill Lodge in Duxbury, Vermont and Cedar Cove in Portsmouth, RI in the summer. Each property has two units, available for rentals.

We sail out of Bristol throughout the summer on our 38' yawl (charters available!).

Kathi Lengel purchased this lodge in 2013

Why Kathi Lengel chose Vermont

We lived in Williamstown, Vermont from 1972-1988. When we moved down country, we kept our rental property there. Then, our daughter and her husband bought a house in Duxbury so we did too. Dividing our time between mountains and beach is just about perfect for us!

When we got it, the Lodge needed a complete renovation. We've spent the last three years building bathrooms, tearing down and refinishing thousands of feet of pine boards. They were very dark brown when we moved in. Each board was carefully removed, planed, varnished (with VT whey varnish) and put back up. The house has new windows, insulation, new kitchens, and so on.

We both like doing renovations so it's been a great project for us. And, we love being a half mile from our daughter and her young family!

What makes this lodge unique

The lodge is out in the country, close to town, with skiing, snowshoeing, and hiking out the back door.

Consider both units for your next family reunion!

Opening our two units to renters has meant a steady stream of very interesting people since we started renting in the summer of 2015.

Great Weekend

We had a great weekend at the Terraces. The owners were very accommodating and the location was perfect for the beer tour we were doing. The space was newly renovated and clean.

Winter Ski/family getaway

  • 5 of 5

Oh my we loved it! We had such a great time. Your home is beautiful, so well planned, decorated and organized. We took in some local dining at Blue Stone, walked the backyard trail and went into Burlington too for Friday evening of dinner and entertainment, then out to skiing Mt Ellen and Mt Lincoln on Sat. & Sun. The location is great, very convenient to the highway and attractions. We will definitely return and recommend Crossett Hill Lodge to our friends and family! Karen &Tim Fuller Columbus Ohio 2/2016

perfect location

  • 5 of 5

This property was near all our favorite restaurants and bars/breweries. We enjoyed walking on the trails during the day and star-gazing at night. The architecture of the building was spectacular and Jim and Kathi were such wonderful people. We would definately return.

Notes:
Vermont ...is what America used to be: rolling hills, forest, fields, lakes and streams, small towns. Quiet, the skies full of stars at night, clean air, friendly neighbors. You’re in the middle of it all at Crossett Hill Lodge. The Forest ...surrounds Crossett Hill Lodge. Walk, ski, or snowshoe out the back along the old logging road for several miles, past the witch’s house. Hike the Long Trail, climb Camel’s Hump (the Lodge sits on its eastern slope), or just sit under a tree in the back yard. We have white pine, maple, ash, poplar, hemlock and cherry to choose from. Heady Topper ...is brewed nearby at the Alchemist. Some people actually like the way it tastes. Ben & Jerry’s ...make their ice cream a few miles away. Tour the factory, sample the flavors, and become a Chubby Hubby.
