About Tom or Connie Wise

We moved our family to cool Colorado from central Texas in l991. This was the most perfect place in the whole state. Tom is a farmer, rancher, builder, and outdoorsman. You can see all of these talents in the cabin he lovingly built on our place.

Tom or Connie Wise purchased this cabin in 1992

Why Tom or Connie Wise chose Southwest

When we decided to move our cattle operation from Texas to the western mountains, we looked for property all over Colorado, Wyoming and Montana. Our van broke down at the top of Red Mountain Pass, so we were forced to come to Montrose for a repair.

Wow! This was the place we were looking for. We went home, loaded up everything we owned in a stock trailer, and moved here. That was 23 years ago. We are so thankful our brakes went out.

What makes this cabin unique

The views are almost unbroken. There are trees, water, and lots of space. At the same time, Montrose is a great town, just close enough, not too close, with lots going on. Come check it out.

Great place to get away from it all

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is situated by itself, very private, about 15 minutes from Montrose, and the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. It is well stocked, and very livable including an upstairs game room with tv and movies. The sunsets were fabulous, and the stars at night are spectacular. We saw fox, deer, wild turkeys, hawks, and of course the glorious mountain views. Connie and Tom are wonderful hosts. I highly recommend this rental.

Well situated and homey

  • 5 of 5

Comfortable cabin in a quiet pastoral setting near the Black Canyon. The owners were very friendly and our grand daughter loved the little nook on the second floor.

Beautiful Cabin

  • 5 of 5

We had an incredible stay at this cabin! Not only was the cabin cozy and beautiful, the views were breathtaking, the location was ideal for National Park adventures, and Tom and Connie were excellent hosts that offered recommendations and also respected our privacy. We hope to be able to rent again in the future!

Perfect, peaceful, comfortable, beautiful!

  • 5 of 5

Everything was great. The cabin is beautiful and very clean. Everywhere we looked, we saw something beautiful - inside and outside. We saw a lot of wildlife every day. There were snow shoes for adults to use - and a lot of land to use them on. We had a great time playing outside and warming up by the wood stove when we came back in. The loft was bigger than expected. Perfect amount of space for our family of four. Tom and Connie met us for a couple minutes on the first day to give us a quick tour - both are very nice!

Very nice place to stay and amazing stars

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I and our two dogs really enjoyed our stay at this cabin. It was even nicer than we expected and was very comfortable. Every night we sat outside for about 20 minutes and watched the stars. With a new moon, we saw at least one shooting star every night. It's also a reasonable distance to Montrose--not too far. There is plenty to see and do in the surrounding area. I would highly recommend this place for a couple or small family.
