Beautiful restored Spanish Revival single family one story home in a lovely residential neighborhood. Easy street parking (with my guest permits). Lovely front courtyard with tables for outdoor dining. Good wi fi throughout the house and front courtyard.

Refinished hardwood floors, bathrooms with tile stall showers. Walk to Trader's Joe's, Whole Foods Market, and unique shops and restaurants on nearby W. Third Street. The Beverly Center mall is 1/2 mile away. Queen bed in one bedroom, Queen bed in master bedroom and trundle beds in office. Full bed can be installed in office for small extra charge.

There is a printer for your use on the guest bedroom desk and there is a treadmill and an elliptical trainer if you want to exercise. Loads of towels. Cleaning service can be arranged for longer stays. No pets allowed. This is a non-smoking property.

About Rochelle D. Ventura

I am a retired former City of Los Angeles and County of Los Angeles employee who moved to this area at the age of 6 during World War II. I grew up in the area and raised my son and daughter in this house. Over the years I have collected sculpture and art from California artists which is displayed in the house.

Currently, I live with Phil half time in San Jose and half time in this house in Los Angeles. The house is listed for rent during the times we am not in Los Angeles.

I have studied architecture and design and frequently travel abroad to check out cities throughout the world.

I love this area and am happy to share my home with visitors to Los Angeles. Everyone seems to like it a lot.

Why Rochelle D. Ventura chose Los Angeles

My home was built in 1929 in the older Spanish Revival style architecture. You will enjoy staying here if you prefer an older home with spacious rooms and unique architectural features.

I purchased the house from the original owners in 1971 so I am only the second person to own this house.

Over the last 44 years I have lovingly restored the house, retaining almost all the details and finishes that make it special while, of course, adding electric outlets, wifi, modern appliances, central heat and air-conditioning, etc. The house has its original hardwood floors, original toilets (without tanks) and lots of storage.

I added the front courtyard in 2001 after seeing the famous patios in Seville, Spain. Everything in the courtyard is authentic to the period of the house. The fountain (turned off for now because of the drought) was built from tiles copied from those in the Santa Barbara courthouse. The pavers are "Rue 71" a reclaimed street I purchased in Europe and had shipped to Los Angeles. The beams in the covered dining area were stenciled by a painter that used to work in Barcelona. The courtyard has been a favorite area for outdoor dining for many of my former guests.

There is also a lovely "Palm Court" backyard featuring 9 Kenya palm trees, Bird of Paradise plants, and Meyer lemon and Key West lime trees (help yourself).

What makes this house unique

The unique benefit of this house is its location. LACMA, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, is within walking distance, as are the Peterson Automotive Museum and the Arts and Crafts Museum. The Original Famers Market and The Grove are also within walking distance in the other direction, as are the convenient Trader Joe's, Whole Foods Market and CVS Drug Store. You can walk to public transportation and connect up with the Los Angeles subway system. You can walk to the pick up points for the ON OFF bus and several other sightseeing buses.

The house is very spacious and comfortable. I provide plenty of paper supplies, and you are welcome to use my tea, coffee, condiments, oils, saran and foil, etc.

Outstanding Property

We Loved this property. Beautiful patio front and back. Close to everything we needed and great for dining inside and out. Comfortable beds and great bathrooms. Loved the purple and green one. An added treat was the Los Angeles times delivered every morning. We were three people but the house could easily accommodate five. Will definitely try to book this property when ever we return to Los Angeles.

What a great house!!

We had an awesome time at Rochelle's house and would highly recommend it to anyone else. The location was very central to all our activities. Pictures don't do this house justice. It is a beautiful older home with so much charm!

Great place for a family stay.

The location is prime. Convenient to the coast, to Universal, to local shops. The house is clean, well kept with all the amenities we wanted. The owner was responsive as needed. I believe you get what you pay for most of the time. This place was a great value based on the quality of the property and its central location in a upscale neighborhood. We would love to stay there again!

Live like a local family

We had a lovely stay here as a family of 5. Rochelle was very responsive and proactive to make sure the house was ready for us. Location is great---quick walk to LACMA, The Farmer's Market, etc. Parking is easy, right out front. House has beautifully restored tilework and other attractive features. Thanks again!

Visit to LA with family

Pros: House is very spacious, in a beautiful area, close to many shopping and dining venues. Overall it is a lovely property, but there are a few issues. The house is all hardwood (beautiful), but with high ceilings and no rugs, so it is noisy (sound carries easily). The bathrooms should be thoroughly cleaned, and the toilets are incredibly loud when flushed. The floors appear clean, but the bottom of your feet get soiled, because the cleaning service doesn't do a thorough job. In addition, the door handles on some of the rooms need to be either replaced or changed--my daughter got locked in her bedroom because the handle was loose and tightened up. I also had to manually tighten the hinge on the door between the laundry room and kitchen, because it was sagging and hitting the floor. The refrigerator is also in need of cleaning. Lastly, it would be nice to have a curtain across the very large living room window for privacy.

However, most of the above criticisms can be remedied by appropriate maintenance. I suspect the cleaning service simply needs to be told to really clean--not just do a wipe-down. Overall the property is beautiful, spacious, equipped with every amenity, and has a beautiful patio area. The Grove is within walking distance, as is Whole Foods, Trader Joes, CVS, coffee shops, etc. On street parking was easy and convenient. Driving time from LAX is about 35 minutes.

The owner was easy to contact and very responsive.

I would stay here again as long as the repairs/maintenance issues are addressed--it is an expensive property and shouldn't have these problems. I grew up in LA, have traveled extensively, and stayed at many hotels, etc--and this property in this location and cost simply should be immaculate and flawless.

Owner's Response: I was surprised that you found the house was not clean . Up to now, all my guests have found that the house was spotless. I wish you would have contacted me as soon as you noticed any area needing cleaning and I would have sent the cleaners back to the house within a few hours. I have tried very hard to be completely accurate in the listing description. I state in my description that this is an older house with hardwood floors, so of course you can hear footsteps inside of the house. The toilets are 87 years old, and although they are a little loud, they do work perfectly. A large sculpture is centered in front of the uncovered living room window and this is shown in the listing photos. I was very concerned about this review and flew to Los Angeles a very days later after the cleaners had cleaned the house (but without telling them I was coming). The house is spotless as usual. Every surface is clean and the hardwood floors are shinning. The refrigerator has been scrubbed with alcohol per my instructions. None of the bedroom doors have locks, so I do not understand how this guest's daughter locked herself in the bedroom. All the hardware is in good working condition. I take guests comments very seriously but I could not find any corrections to make in the maintenance of the house. My Spanish Revival house was built in 1929, and up to now all my guests have appreciated its unique architectural features. It does have the original hardwood floors, original bathroom tile, etc. along with modern electrical, air, heating and wireless. I am very sorry this guest and his family did not enjoy the house. I spoke with him on the telephone and he was very complimentary about the house, so this review was a complete surprise.

The house is a beautiful and charming Los Angeles property.

We had a great stay at Rochelle's house. The property is a terrific size for a family, and it is conveniently located near several restaurants and L.A. landmarks such as LACMA and the Farmer's Market. During the warm summer nights, we often ate in the courtyard, which is a delightful element of the house. We would gladly return!

Car: not necessary

The house is located within walking distance to the Original Farmers Market and the Grove, both worth visits and both with loads of good restaurants. You can pick up a variety of sightseeing buses at the Original Farmers Market. The La Brea Tar Pits, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, the Folk Art and Crafts Museum and the Peterson Automotive Museum are also within walking distance.
