Nestled beneath Lone Man Mountain, just forty-five minutes from Austin, Texas, Grove House is a luxurious, eco-conscious sanctuary—off the beaten path, down a road less traveled.

Withdraw to the simple elegance of a San Miguel-inspired courtyard and shower under a canopy of stars. Follow the moonrise from the hot tub. Rest your feet up by the fire and recall the lost art of doing nothing.

Inside, liberate your cares in an aromatherapy bath in the century-old clawfoot tub, rescued from a French Quarter hotel.

Sink into 100% organic bamboo/cotton sheets and white goose down comforter in the king platform bed, handmade by a local craftsman from river-reclaimed sinker cypress. (Down-alternative bedding available upon request.)

In the morning, wake up with a cappuccino, latte, espresso, or a selection of organic herbal teas and a breath of fresh air.

Step down from the covered porch to an old-growth arbor of oaks and fire up the grill for alfresco dining, overlooking a meadow frequented by wildlife.

Explore the eclectic library of writers, artists and wildlife guides.

Request advance arrangements for a therapeutic in-house massage.

Fine dining, art galleries, antiquing, and more are fewer than fifteen minutes from Grove House, in the village of Wimberley. You’ll also discover nearby vineyards and wineries, swimming holes, music events, festivals and flea markets.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We had a peaceful & relaxed time at the Grove House!! We celebrated our 28th wedding anniversary and could not have found a more wonderful place to reconnect with each other, from life's busy times. Thanks for your insight and detail in making this a place of peace and rest.

We absolutely enjoyed our three days at the Grove House. It was exactly what we were looking for - a peaceful, well-appointed cottage away from the noise of a road or lots of other people, but accessible to restaurants. The attention to detail at the Grove House was impressive. We are leaving rested and relaxed!

Two days of pure relaxation. The Grove House is simply amazing, beautiful, and one of a kind. So close to the surrounding towns but yet a retreat ... We had such an amazing time and will return.

Apart from a breeze sighing through the trees, the silence around Grove House is so pure as to seem palpable. If you’re looking for a place that gives you the space to rest, think, create, or simply do nothing, the amenity-rich Grove House is about as good as it gets.

There’s nothing quite so refreshing and freeing as star watching while you shower al fresco on the patio. That was just before jumping in the hot tub with a nearby crackling fire. The patio is completely enclosed by a beautiful, towering wall of native stone and if you’re still uncomfortable about being naked outdoors, proprietor, Kim Miller, provides bulky warm bathrobes.

This elegant haven is restful, peaceful, and rejuvenating. OMG is that outdoor shower incredible. Oh and did I mention romantic ... the outdoor fireplace ... the hot tub ... the porches ... and all the stars and the trees, and the sound of the wind through the trees. That is all we could hear ... waking up in this beautiful spot on this glorious sunshine filled day... so peaceful... watching the birds and sipping espresso.

More than our Wildest Dreams

  • 5 of 5

5 stars doesn't even begin to cover this place. There needs to be 100 stars, and it would hit every one. Kim was amazing, she showed us around the cabin when we checked in and how the amenities work. Everything was exceptionally clean and in fantastic working condition. The water stayed hot the entire time and NEVER got cold. We enjoyed the fancy coffee maker haha, hot tub pool outside (I want to live there) under the stars.. it was cold during our stay so we enjoyed the outdoor fireplace each night and made s'mores. There's even an outdoor shower.. it will feel like you're in another country haha. The bed was SO comfortable, prepare to just want to stay there and never leave. The claw tub bathtub with bath salts. dimly lit.. romance at its finest. You can cook outside and enjoy nature, beautiful birds of all kinds -- Kim knew what she was doing when she designed this heavenly space! Even the water tasted amazing.. Only 15-20 minutes away are shops and restaurants (she recommended us to a few restaurants and the food was fantastic).

If you want a luxuriously romantic getaway from the world (we are nonstop city workaholics) this is the place to go. You won't regret it, so just go ahead and book it before someone else does. Seriously, it was hands down one of the best retreats that my husband and I needed and we are so grateful for Kim's attention to detail and spoiling us! We absolutely cannot wait to come back!

Cute cottage in the Hill country

  • 4 of 5

My husband and I spent two enjoyable nights in this tiny cottage. The amenities were exceptional. The place was spotlessly clean and stocked with everything you need for a weekend stay. We especially enjoyed the porch for bird and squirrel watching, the courtyard with the fireplace and wonderful outdoor shower.

The only suggestion I have is that there is a major safety hazard that can be fixed immediately and with little cost. There is a step down from the closet/bathroom section to the kitchen. It is not a full step and it is hard to see for someone who may be looking toward the front door. I had a very hard fall there about 5 minutes after arrival. I landed very hard on both knees. Fortunately nothing was broken and we went on to enjoy our stay. I would recommend some red tape or something similar to catch the eye and prevent another fall. My husband fell too but managed to catch his balance.

We would love to return again sometime. It was a lovely spot!

Perfect get-away spot!

  • 5 of 5

This is a great spot that feels a million miles away, but is just a few minutes from shops and restaurants. The kitchen is well supplied and the bed is super comfy. Kim has really thought of everything and you will certainly want to come back.

Secluded relaxation and luxury

  • 5 of 5

We recently returned home from a three night stay at the Grove House and can't rave enough about the experience. The location is around ten minutes out from charming downtown Wimberley, up and down gravel roads. The king bed was comfy and plush, with soft sheets and fluffy pillows. I especially enjoyed using the claw foot tub/shower, while my boyfriend used the outdoor hot shower the entire stay. At night, we cooked on the gas grill, roasted s'mores in the outdoor fireplace and gazed up at the stars in the soaking tub. In the morning, we drank coffee on the front porch, watched the birds and squirrels frolic, and perused one of the many books and magazines provided. We can't wait to return!
