If I could sum up the experience in one word it would be amazing. We were here during the rainy season, but sitting and watching it rain on the lake was as peaceful as it gets. The kitchen is well stocked, the beds very comfortable and the house is very cozy. They left us eggs, coffee, juice and croissants - everything you need for a nice breakfast; a pleasant surprise. But it is the lake, the breathtaking views and the lovely landscaped grounds that make this a place I could come back to again and again. Thank you for a great stay!
This snow white cottage with it's wrap around deck was just what the doctor ordered. It was unique, peaceful and quiet. You get your own beach front where you can launch the Canoe or Kayake for your use. (we went out of the water every day and explored in the Canoe watching the fish swim by) You also get your own fire pit with very comfortable lounge chairs where you can watch the moon rise over the mountains and the stars at night while you listen to the king frogs sounding their territory around the lake. The beds and linen were clean, fresh and oh so comfortable!
They had a lot of spices and items in the fridge and cupboards for use. I loved the way their percolator made my coffee taste I'm going out and buying one!
The area wasn't any good to go out in your car to explore as there was really nothing. We went into Bremerton though to have our Anniversary dinner on Saturday night and went to Anthony's at Sinclair Inlet right on the water and the food was AMAZING! They had lots of magazines for me to read and enjoy. We were happy we brought our Playstation 2 and some movies though as they had a very limited amount of movies and no board games whatsoever. However, they did have a few decks of cards. Their wood burning fireplace would be wonderful for a winter stay.
The ladder isn't in the living room like you see in the photo but it's just an open area anyways so nothing to see up there really, its look just adds to the quaintness of the cottage.
This property is one of the best surrounding the lake in our opinion.
Gas station and convenience store is less then 10 min's away so you are good that way ;-)
I could not have been happier with my choice in accommodations. Kings Cove was the perfect place for us to cook our meals when we were home, eat breakfast overlooking absolute beauty every morning, drive on roads that are not congested and that are full of beauty, ride the ferries, hike, and basically live like a local. We loved every minute. Sharol and Ron are so welcoming and just a real cool couple. We got to stay as long as we needed on our last day which helped tremendously since we had red-eye flights back to the east coast. The rental is equipped with everything you need. The beds are so comfortable and I know effort was put into the decisions on how to make them that way. We all slept so soundly. Overall, we felt at home and would return in a heart-beat. Thanks so much, Ron and Sharol for your hospitality and for having such a great place for us to stay. We will see you again, I am sure of it!
My roommate and I were craving an easy, low-stress getaway for Memorial Day weekend, and the Kings Cove beach rental was the perfect find! Located just 1.5 hours from Seattle (either by ferry or a super easy drive down and around to Bremerton), Kings Cove was the ideal destination as it definitely provided the feeling of getting out of town but without the multiple hour drives that are require to get to seaside resorts or other lakes.
Beautifully situated on the lake, the rental offers lovely views of the water. Sweeping glass windows, sliding doors, and deck railing let the light stream in and the views remain intact no matter where you decide to sit and relax.
When the sun came out, we took the available canoe out for a gentle paddle around the lake. When the sun set or the rain sprinkled, we curled up indoors (with those peaceful lake views) and enjoyed the warmth and crackle of the woodstove. And when we grew tired of our books, there were modern conveniences to enjoy such as a large flat screen TV and surround sound.
The kitchen was well stocked with all the appliances we needed to cook breakfasts, lunches, and dinners. And a barbecue on the deck satisfied our cravings for the first tastes of summer.
We slept in each morning and enjoyed the cozy comfort of fabulous beds and plush pillows (no back-breaking mattresses here).
We only have wonderful things to say about this property and the proprietors. Ron and Sharol were incredibly sweet and accommodating, and since they live right next door, they were graciously available to answer any questions or assist with any troubles (such as when two young ladies struggle to properly light the barbecue themselves).
If you’re there on a Saturday, be sure to check on the Sheablue boutique just out the front gate. We popped in, thinking we’d take a quick look around and be on our way, and we ended up discovering all sorts of wonderful treasures (and at fabulous prices!). The same tastes that were evidenced by the charming boutique were also present in the interior of the beach rental. If I had three words to capture the Kings Cove rental (with its predominantly white decor), they would be: charming, elegant, and serene.
Perfect for tea parties, girly slumber parties, romantic getaways, or a writer’s retreat, the Kings Cove beach rental comes with my highest recommendation.
Check in was at 3 PM, but as the house was available - Sharol and Ron arranged for us to check in at 11 AM - so we almost had a full extra day.
Everything was really nice and clean. The kitchen had all the amenities and utilities you could wish for and also spices, coffee filters, dishwasher soap etc. Even though the weather was not great while we were there we made use of the BBQ every night - and sitting outside and enjoying the view of the lake and all the birds on the property.
The ground goes all the way down to the water and there is both a canoe and a kayak available if you want to take a trip on the lake.
A road goes by the house, so you will occasionally hear cars passing by during the day (to the kitchen and one of the bedroom side) - but at night it was quiet.
There is some small convenience stores close by - but for larger (and cheaper) groceries go to Belfair (QFC, Safeway) or Silverdale.
We would definitly recommend this place.
The place was beautiful, clean, quiet, comfortable. The hosts were very helpful but not intrusive. Beautiful views of the lake, canoeing, and just over all a peaceful, rejuvenating experience. My only thought for improvement would be a guest book. Its always fun to see who else you are sharing an adventure with.
