Historic downtown Venice with several shops and restaurants is a bike ride away .

About Dennis Coll

I am originally from Philadelphia but spent my entire working career in the Boston area. I retired in 2005 and since then have split my time between Venice and Massachusetts. I discovered that I could take language lessons during the winter months here and, since that time, have become a great fan of all things Italian - but Im not forgetting my 100% Irish heritage ;-)

Dennis Coll purchased this condo in 2005

Why Dennis Coll chose Florida South West

I have always wanted to own a home by the sea and this condominium and this city seemed perfect for me. The condominium is situated on a canal - just a matter of feet from the Inland Water Way. From our place, by boat, it is just minutes to the jetties and access to the Gulf of Mexico. Or perhaps you would prefer to meander through the Condominium complex for a few minutes where you will find our pool - situated just alongside the beach!

Venice still maintains some of its old Florida charm - not overrun with beach side development. Speaking of beaches - all of the beaches in Venice are available for public use but the major gathering points are 'Venice Beach' (at the end of Venice Avenue) Sharky's Beach, and Casperson Beach. You can literally walk for miles on the beaches of Venice.

What makes this condo unique

Somewhat unique to Venice- we are situated on the Gulf of Mexico yet have very easy access to the major interstate highway of western Florida - I-75 just minutes away from town. That fact means we can say with confidence that attractions as far away as DisneyWorld or the Everglades can be reached within 2 1/2 hours. So, aside from theater, cinema, social clubs, yoga on the beach, churches, synagogues, golf courses and the myriad water attractions that you will find here, you can easily attend live opera, visit theaters in several cities, go to world class art museums, enjoy spring training baseball, ride a bicycle path built on an old railroad bed from Venice to Sarasota, go deep sea fishing, enjoy botanical gardens and so much more - including learning the history of the area- Venice is the former winter home of the Ringling Brothers Circus (you can still have the experience of flying the trapeze here - really, you can!) I highly recommend a visit to the former home, gardens and museum of John and Mable Ringling.

Great location, Loved every minute

  • 5 of 5

Our first year in retirement. The condo was even better than we could have imagined. Very clean and well stocked. We could walk or ride our bikes just about anywhere. We did yoga on the beach in the mornings. City of Venice had many shops and restaurants. Just a short walk to the Jetty. Saw many dolphins. The pool was just a short walk away and it was the nicest pool on the beach. Just beyond the pool was the beach. We even had Wi-Fi access at the pool. Very nice restaurant across the street. I can't think of anything we didn't like. We will definitely be back next year!

Lovely, clean and comfortable condo

  • 5 of 5

We rated this VRBO property 5 stars for many reasons, including location, price and comfort. The area is very peaceful and the condo overlooks a canal. It is walking distance to the beach and only a few minutes from downtown Venice with shops, restaurants, bars, etc.

You can tell the owners take pride in this unit. They’ve done a lot of upgrading and it is beautifully decorated, well maintained and VERY CLEAN! The kitchen is well stocked with everything you need (dishes, pots & pans, coffee maker, etc.) and the condo has plenty of closet/storage space for your personal items. The furniture is lovely, the beds are comfortable with soft linens and there are two full baths with thick, fluffy towels. Bring your laptop or tablet, you’ll have a desk with wi-fi supplied by the owner.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and would highly recommend this unit.

The owner was a pleasure to deal with, very attentive and communicated with us before we even arrived!

Owner's Response: I really try to make a pleasant vacation for all my renters and so it is very gratifying when I get a nice response from my guests. The couple was lovely to do business with, they responded to email or texts very quickly, lived "lightly" in the condo - so everything was in tiptop shape when they left. I am so sorry they could not stay longer. I do hope we'll meet again next year. Wonderful, Wonderfull guests.

Comfortable & Convenient

  • 3 of 5

The location of the property was convenient to what we were doing in Venice, Florida. The condo itself was clean and well maintained...the bed and bedding was very comfortable...towels were luxurious (hotel quality)... the kitchen is a bit outdated (the icemaker did not work & at 90+ degrees...we did need to make our own ice which was an inconvenience). We did experience some nasty thunderstorms & could have used an emergency kit with flashlights, etc.

A nice walking distance between the Intercoastal Waterway and the Gulf...although the condo is situated on a canal off of the Intercoastal...the Crow's Nest Restaurant was nice to have so close.

We enjoyed our stay on the island!

Owner's Response: I was happy to have you as guests and I wish the weather was more cooperative. However, that's not abnormal for this time of year. The important things for me is it was clean and comfortable. By the way, I have taken care of the ice problem. Unfortunately it was my oversight.

This is where you want to stay!

  • 5 of 5

We recently were fortunate to stay for almost 3 weeks in this condo. First, if you goal is to spend as much time on the beach, enjoy boating, fine dining, and relaxing in a very nice, CLEAN place, this condo is for you. We walked to the jetties each morning and evening (great sunsets). We strolled on the beach daily. And, at the end of the day, we relaxed in a well equipped condo. While we did not take advantage of the pool, we could tell people were enjoying it.

The condo has a full kitchen, dining and living room. There are two bedrooms, one with its own bath and one that worked as my office. There is a laundry room on the lower level for use, and we did. The condo overlooks a canal with boats, fish and birds. The condo was clean and easy to keep clean no matter how many times you went to the beach.

Our host, Dennis, made himself available to answer questions, concerns, or to address anything that might come up. Dennis repeatedly said, he wanted to make sure we had a great time. We did, and thank you Dennis.

When the time came to leave, we knew we would miss being so close to the beach and jetties. We loved our time there and we recommend that if you are looking for a great spot in Venice, you can not go wrong here.

Perfect location, very clean and affordable

  • 5 of 5

This condo is even better than described in the listing. The unit is very clean and has a well stocked kitchen. The linens and towels are luxury hotel quality and the wifi/cable TV is great. Furniture and beds are very comfortable and the decor is modern, with well coordinated, soothing colors. The canalside second floor balcony was a perfect spot for morning coffee and evening enjoyment. This location has many positives and was relaxing for us. It is a very safe area and we enjoyed many after dark walks without concern. The Venice Island Jetty is 320 footsteps away and we were delighted to view the annual Christmas boat parade from there. The picture of the beachside pool shown in this listing shows the close proximity to the Gulf of Mexico and this area provided us with comfortable front row seats to breathtaking sunsets every evening. The municipal beach is within walking distance also and has a variety of music 5 nights a week plus two well-attended "yoga on the beach" classes every morning. The Crow's Nest Restaurant is one block from this unit and is a top notch eatery. Bike rentals and kayak rentals are adjacent to the Crow's Nest, boat rentals down the street, and fishing at the jetty anytime you like. Downtown Venice is very close and has a collection of interesting shops, cafes, and activities. The owner of this condo is very responsive to all communication. We enjoyed our stay and have booked for next year!

Owner's Response: Thank you Barbara. We try our very best to make your stay a great experience and we are, therefore, very proud to receive your stellar response. And we're pleased, as well, that you enjoyed this special area of Venice, Fl. Of course, the greatest compliment is your reservation for next year. We look forward to your stay.

newly renovated, sharp condo

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed in this quiet, clean, and modern condo, that is well-supplied with linens and kitchen items. The furnishings are new and the location is quite handy. The owner is very friendly and accommodating. We enjoyed walking to the jetty, driving for just a few minutes to the charming downtown, and getting to know this part of Florida.
