About Lynne O'Reilly / Alec Edmonds
We are a local family, having lived just outside of Swanage for many years so have an excellent knowledge of the area and local facilities. We now live in a neighbouring cottage to Old Dairy, where we are enjoying the wonderful wildlife and countryside surrounding us.
Lynne O'Reilly / Alec Edmonds purchased this Barn in 2016
Why Lynne O'Reilly / Alec Edmonds chose Winfrith Newburgh
Stepping inside Old Dairy, this property envelopes you with a wonderful feeling of privacy, but spacious both inside and out. Although set in the heart of countryside, the location is ideal with the coast 3 miles away, set on the Jurassic coast, and a village just a mile away, with ample shops and a mainline station, but near to all Dorsets attractions.
What makes this Barn unique
Old Dairy is approached by a tree lined drive, which is a wonderful habitat to pheasants, ducks, deer and many species of birds. There is a pretty garden adjacent to facilites for car parking, and a barn that used to be home for dairy cattle, but now home to owls and our pet ponies. The whole area is surrounded by fields, with a wonderful feeling of open space.

Lovely clean and cosy property
The Old Dairy was lovely and light. Everything you needed for a lovely stay. The area is one of our favourites as lovely places to visit and very dog friendly. I would have given it five stars had it not been for the noise from the boarding kennels up the lane. Saying that we had a lovely time. Thank you for the warm welcome.
Lovely location.. very peaceful .. not overlooked
Lovely clean property with everything provided. Thank you
Perfect little hide away
We really enjoyed our stay here. The cottage was lovely and clean. Even though we own a dog, I always worry that a pet allowed property wont always be as clean, but it was very clean and no doggy smells at all. Everything we needed was provided in the cottage and we were made to feel very welcome, our dog included. The garden was a perfect sun trap and lovely and secure for our dog. The only thing I would say, is from the main road it isn't very well sign posted and the postcode seemed to make our sat nav go to the vets!
We will definitely return to this property again.
Thank you for a lovely, homely and comfrotable stay.
Comfortable and well equipped unit for 2.
Lovely rural setting, positioned well back from main road down private road to small group of dwellings amongst gardens. A short drive away from pretty villages and spectacular coastal walks at Lulworth cove. Easy reach to Dorchester and Poole area as well. Owners very friendly and good suggestions for local dining and places to visit.
We stayed at the Old Dairy for 10 days and had a great time. It's location is set amongst a few beautiful cottages on what was a farm in a rural location that is still convenient to explore most of Dorset. Close to Wareham, Swanage, Weymouth and Dorchester there is loads to see and do in this stunning county.
The accommodation was spacious, clean and well maintained. All the equipment that you need to fully self cater is there. You can park your car close to property which is next to Lynne and Alec's cottage. We got a warm welcome from both who are very friendly and only too happy to help out if you need something. There is a dog kennel business further down the lane and at times you can hear distant barking but to be honest it wasn't in the least bit intrusive. Most of the time all you hear is the birdsong and a slight rumble form the main road a few hundred meters away.
There is a small menagerie of animals: 4 Shetland ponies, 5 incredibly friendly, tame sheep, plenty of birds and rabbits and 2 delightful dogs. Annie is pretty large but will love you to death!
We would highly recommend a stay here.
The Old Dairy is also near Durdle Door, Bovington Tank Museum. Wareham with the River Frome and Quay are a short drive away. Swanage and Corfe Castle are less than a 30 minute drive, and Weymouth aprroximately the same. We have many National Trust properties within a short drive, and the RSPB reserve at Arne, Wareham.
