All you could ask for. The apt was immaculate and had 2 car enclosed parking, which was most convient. The pictures don't do it justice. The apt is very large with a lot of fresh air and light. The kitchen is HUGH and has everything one needs. I DEFINITELY will be back when in LA. Nothing compares to it, as I do a lot of traveling and use the sight frequently. Don was a great host and checked in with us to make sure we had all we needed. Thanks Don for making our trip great!!! The oceandeck was amazing😄

Just came back from Venice and I am already thinking when I can go back!

We have vacationed at Venice/Santa Monica area for many times but Donald's apartment is one of the best! First off, it is very spacious which is hard to come by in this area. We felt very much at home there. Enjoyed daily walk along the beach and checking out many great restaurants in the area and LA. Donald was very attentive host and responsive to any small question. Thank you so very much for letting our family stay.

Nice location in Venice beach

This is a nice home in a very good location. It was near the canals and the boardwalk. We were attending the Rose Bowl parade so made this our home for travelling to and from Pasadena.

The home was well supplied for our needs and Don went out of his way to be helpful. Our only concern during our stay was that the tv did not get very many channels. We were unable to get the Super Bowl game so had to go elsewhere.

Owner's Response: Really? The Super Bowl is in February Ellen - I offer HBO, on a Samsung 60" TV - and you complain, (which most hosts do not offer.) People dont usually come to watch TV... You locked the keys inside the apt when you left and I had to call a locksmith and couldn't open the lock box when you arrived. Outside of that all was peachy.

Great location, great space, but lacks air conditioning and privacy

This condo was very nice, clean and was super close to the beach and Venice boardwalk. We rented bikes for the week and rode them daily. The garage was huge and accommodated our car, bikes and beach stuff. Kitchen was stocked with enough of everything for a small family as well as the bathrooms. We didn't need to purchase shampoo, garbage bags, and the like, etc as they were provided which was super convenient. On site washer/dryer was great too. We wished the condo had air conditioning....we didn't know this. Every window in the condo needed to be open just to cool the property down to 75-80 degrees It's a second floor unit that does not face the ocean breeze, even when it's 73 degrees outside. There are fans going in every room to circulate the air, but sleeping was many times uncomfortable, and all the fan noise got to be a bit much. And with all of the windows open, you picked up a lot of street noise, drunk people on the sidewalk, garbage trucks, etc, so it's not quiet. Also, we had A LOT of black flies in the condo, which the owner tried to rectify, but we were never without them. There are 10 garbage bins very close to the master bedroom balcony which I believed was the likely source. Privacy - There are 5 motion activated digital security cameras that record your every move as soon as you walk in the outside gate, in the main lobby, the garage, in the stairwell, and up by the rooftop deck. They are CLOSELY monitored by the owners, from the minute you walk in the door, or leave for the day. I didn't like knowing my every move was being recorded and I found it to be very invasive. My brother and his wife stayed with us one night (layover in LA) and we were quickly told the next morning that all of this was captured on video and that we might be billed for the extra people (which we weren't thankfully - a much appreciated gesture because of all the flies per the owner). The roof top deck was beautiful, but it can only be used until 9pm every night. The owner was pleasant, and we think he owns the entire building, which has 2 other short term rentals (or the like), but we saw him on 4 separate occasions, and he even scheduled screens to be measured for our windows and had some loud construction going on in our garage one day. Lastly, while this is listed as a "3 bedroom", it's really a 2 bedroom + an alcove with a double bed separated from the hall by dividers. No problem for us but possibly for others needing privacy.

Owner's Response: Please read "Zips" review, who stayed after this traveler...Paul arrived at the property at 11:45 AM and had the audacity to CHECK IF THE KEYS WERE THERE with guitar on his back and luggage! I've heard a lot of fabrications (a nice word for lies) from travelers during the 4.5 years I've been renting short term, but this traveler was the one of the greatest...I took a look for myself, as I couldn't believe what my housekeeper told me, and immediately emailed him (see email thread below) and told him AGAIN, check in is 4 pm. My wife said hello later that day same day, as we were working around the property & was treated with an attitude by the wife because they had to wait until 4pm to check in. Then 3 nights later, at 8:15 pm, I am changing some burnt out light bulbs on the bamboo fence, and here comes his brother & his wife through the front gate - up from San Diego to stay for awile! I spoke with them. They were nice so I let them stay.(see email thread below). Now there are 7 people in my condo. I told Paul this is unacceptable, and his brother & wife can not stay another night & they departed the following morning...These SELF ENTITLED, RUDE people like this guest, I regret renting my property to. No wonder he gave me a bad review-HE GOT CAUGHT, and like any vindictive person would do, gave a bad review... Its OK though as it was EXPECTED Please read my other reviews. The "construction" he was referring to was putting in a small shelf up in the garage. WOW. BOTTOM LINE - if you plan to come to my property and lie and cheat to get more guests in and try to check in 4+ hours early, you probably would not enjoy the cameras either, but if you follow house rules, it should not bother anyone. In fact, it is for everyone' security. Here is the email to Paul Thistle with time stamp on the bottom of the thread. Easy to figure. Hi Paul There were 2 additional guests bringing luggage yesterday - you now have 7 people staying overnight. I do not allow 7 person in the unit.. The addition of guests during your stay is not permissible nor acceptable and they must find other accommodations, otherwise I will ask you to leave. Wed 8/23/2017 9:03 AM PDT. ANOTHER THREAD- Paul Check in is 4pm Housekeeping said they say someone trying to get into the building. Please abide my house rules-4pm check in as per my instructions. Fri 8/18/2017 11:52 AM PDT. These time stamped threads are very revealing & would not be permitted to post if not accurate and true.
