The owner was super kind and responsive to any questions. The home was clean and seemed recently renovated/updated. The location is great because the house is close to downtown, so it is easy to get to restaurants, shops, etc. Overall, it was a great stay and we would stay again in the future.
We had a fabulous time. All ages were very happy. Kids could walk to the park to play basketball. Everything was so convenient. We all loved our stay in Blowing Rock!
Our stay was amazing, the house was very cozy and in great location. Only 5 min drive (20 min walk) to grocery store and 10 min drive to Appalachian ski.
Perfect place for family vacation. We had a great time. Thank you.
This was the loveliest home and probably the most well stocked and cleanest place we’ve ever booked for a vacation. The location was convenient to downtown but still felt like country living! Absolutely wonderful and we can’t wait to visit again!!
We loved our stay in Emily’s Carriage House! It was exactly as described, and was charming. There was plenty of room for five adults and two children, and had ample family gathering space as well. It was a 10 minute walk to town (as advertised), and provided a private and lovely mountain respite.
Owner was great with communication.
Home Decorated nicely.
The kitchen was well stocked
With dishes & towels.
Bedrooms were good size.
Bathrooms with linens and good size.
Downstairs bed & bath really nice.
Small no door trundle bedroom could use a door. (It’s right off kitchen)
Comfy upstairs living room.
Laundry room upstairs a plus.
Convenient to downtown.
Great stay!
Property was easy to find and cute. Host was easy to communicate with. It is 2 story, which was detailed. Downstairs, the only TV and sitting area is in daybed room off kitchen. We spent a lot of time at dining table as family since that was only area downstairs to sit together while cooking and such. Please note, living room is upstairs with TV.House was clean and had all we needed. The only negative was island in kitchen. It was wooden and lots of food buildup in cracks.Bathrooms, beds all great. We would stay again. Close to all places we enjoy.
We were a group of 3 moms and our 3 sons. The home was very clean, upgrades throughout, plenty of space, nice modern touches yet very cozy and blowing rock/cabin themed. The moms enjoyed having our own thermostat in each room. Was great that we could all be comfortable. We also enjoyed the large dining table and were able to play card games with the kids each night. The kids loved the bonus room with the trundle. They were very comfortable and we all had plenty of room.
Kitchen had lots of supplies - but the restaurants were so close by we didn’t use them. Very short walk to all the restaurants and shoppes.
We would love to stay again.
Super comfortable. Discovered we didnt have toaster but a quick mesaage to Emily and we had one that day. Only one minor complaint, the ad says 2 twin beds but it is a twin and rollout trundle which isnt real suitable for aduts in their late 60s. Lol. But one of our group canceled last minute so did'nt even matter. We came fir an annual sports car event and if we dont come next year to stay there, we will highly recommend The Carriage House!
This is a wonderful place for a family vacation. The owner left many needed essentials such as cleaning supplies and paper goods. I would have liked to have had a little more cabinet or shelf space for certain kitchen items that I bring with me when we travel. However it was great to have nice kitchen appliances already there! Thanks, Emily, for looking out for us. You fixed the fan light promptly!

The Carriage House
We enjoyed the Carriage House. Emily has her property well maintained with all the amenities and it is located in a great neighborhood to take a stroll. The property is located five minutes from the park and the community swimming pool. Both are great for the kids to get a good amount of play after consuming pizza at Mellow Mushroom and ice cream at Kilwins!
We had four children under the age of 6 and the games furnished were great to have for
the kids and the adults to play. We used to have property in Blowing Rock that we sold last year and this was our first experience with a VRBO. We have four generations of memories in Blowing Rock and this vacation with the newest generation will be more of many to come. Emily is very easy to contact with answers to questions and very accommodating. Fantastic time was had by us all. We will definitely be back!

Location, Location....only a short WALK to town!
Loved it! The Carriage House had everything we needed during our stay and a very easy walk to town. Everyone had their own spacious rooms with plenty of space for their belongings to be stored. You could tell the owner takes pride in the property in how everything was very clean and organized. The kitchen was stocked with plenty of dishes, utensils and such for our stay. Again did I mention its only a short walk to town. We didn't even have to use our cars once we arrived! I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a great place to stay in Blowing Rock. NC. Thanks again!!

Disappointed with this property...
We found THE CARRIAGE HOUSE to be too crowded with the owner's belongings. The furniture was outdated and too big for the space. Some shelves and drawers had been cleared for our things, but we felt cramped for space, especially in our bathroom. the master bathroom is very small with very little counter space for our items. As an older couple, we had a problem with the stairs since it was necessary to get to the second floor to enjoy a more comfortable, upgraded space. Each TV operated differently or not at all(with no instructions!), the kitchen is very small , the cabinets are overpacked with items stuffed in with no discernable order, lack of unified air conditioning , a large dehumidifier(?) was running all the time, small upstairs deck has been neglected for some time, a new cleaning crew is needed. Emily was easy to deal with and was very kind. I am sure this property was very nice 20-30 years ago.

Wow, I was certainly surprised to see this negative review. I spoke to the husband when they arrived and answered all the questions they had, I even explained how to use the SmartTVs downstairs (there are written instructions laminated and posted on the cork board but I still politely explained it step by step on the phone - there is a cable box upstairs in the main living area too). I also spoke to both the husband and wife when they departed. Other than saying that they thought the kitchen was a little small for what they are used to, they told me how wonderful their stay was. I hate to find out later on a public review that was not the case. To address the things noted, the only personal items I have on shelves are board games, puzzles and books for guests to enjoy. Every dresser and closet in every bedroom is completely empty for guests to use. Travel toiletries are provided in a small basket in each bathroom as courtesy in case someone forgot something. As many other guests have noted, the kitchen is completely stocked with everything you would need to cook during your stay... pots, pans, plates, utensils, mixing bowls, strainers, even Tupperware and plastic bags for leftovers. As for the stairs, they are featured in my listing in both a picture of the stairs and the layout images. It is a two story house. Most of the furniture I bought brand new 3 years ago, including all the mattresses and the master bedroom suite, and what was not brand new was completely reupholstered. We added a dehumidifier just recently bc when I stayed up there I noticed the air felt a little damp. It is the mountains and that happens but I like to be proactive and provide everything to my guests that I would want when I stay there so I left it out. One thing I pride myself on is the cleanliness of the house which is also reflected in almost all of the other reviews. I hate this older couple did not like the house and could not tell me this when we spoke on the phone twice, but this is the first negative review I have EVER received and I believe all the other reviews speak for themselves. The most common comments repeated in almost all of the other reviews are “very clean, plenty of space, and well stocked”... which completely counters everything that was said here. I’m really sorry to hear this house was not a good fit for them.

Great Location!
This home is conveniently located in a quiet neighborhood close to the Mellow Mushroom in downtown Blowing Rock. It had a perfect layout for my husband and I, plus our son's family. Plenty to do for all of us and everything we liked to do was just minutes away! The only minor complaint was that we had trouble with the internet. Perhaps this was because we had so many devices or this might be typical for the NC mountains. Anyway it in no way disturbed our time there. Blowing Rock has plenty of great restaurants and we loved just strolling the downtown. We would love to come back next year!

Hi Karen,
I'm glad you and your family had a nice time in the mountains. I'm sorry to hear there was trouble with the internet. I wish I would have known during your stay so I could have tried to address the issue then. Internet is not typically a problem, my husband and I frequently work from of the Carriage House when we're staying up there and rely on the high speed connection. We also have multiple SmartTVs in the house we frequently stream movies on. I have made an appointment with Charter Spectrum so that a technician can come out to troubleshoot and fix the issue. Hopefully you will keep us in mind for your next trip to Blowing Rock! Thank you again for staying with us!

About the host
Hosted by Emily Roberts
Hi there! We're your hosts, and we're so glad you're considering a stay at The Carriage House.
We live right here in beautiful Blowing Rock and feel incredibly lucky to call this charming mountain town our home. Just outside of nearby Boone, we run a local pottery community studio—it's a place where creativity, community, and the slower pace of mountain life all come together. Whether we’re throwing clay, hiking a local trail, or walking into town for coffee, we never take this area for granted—and we love getting to share a bit of that magic with our guests.
Hosting is something we truly enjoy. We’ve designed The Carriage House to be cozy, comfortable, and walkable to everything Blowing Rock has to offer because that’s how we love to travel ourselves. Whether you're here for the hiking, shopping, skiing, or simply relaxing, we’re happy to share tips, favorite spots, or just give you space to enjoy your trip.
Blowing Rock is a small town, but it’s full of heart, natural beauty, and special places that keep people coming back year after year. It brings us real joy to help others discover why this little corner of the Blue Ridge is so special.
Thanks for checking out our place—we hope it feels like a home away from home for you, just like it does for us.
Why they chose this property
We chose this neighborhood because it offers the best of both worlds—peaceful mountain living with the convenience of being just a short walk to everything Blowing Rock has to offer. Tucked among native mountain laurels and surrounded by trees, the area has a quiet, natural feel that makes you feel immersed in the mountains the moment you arrive.
One of our favorite things about this location is how connected it is to nature while still being incredibly close to town. Within just a few minutes' walk, you can grab a morning coffee, enjoy a meal at a local restaurant, browse through charming shops, or spend an afternoon at the beautiful town park. The park is a true community hub—with tennis courts, pickleball, volleyball, a playground, and even a seasonal town pool. It's a great place to relax, play, or just people-watch.
The Blowing Rock Art & History Museum is also nearby, and it's a must-visit for anyone who enjoys local culture and creativity. And for outdoor lovers, hiking trails and Bass Lake are just down the road, offering peaceful paths and scenic views right in town.
This neighborhood is the kind of place where you can park your car and not need it again for days. It's quiet enough to unwind and enjoy nature, but full of small-town charm and activity. We love the slower pace, the friendly faces, and the mix of art, nature, and community. It’s a place where you can truly feel at home—and we’re always excited to share it with our guests.
What makes this property unique
What makes The Carriage House truly special is the combination of space, comfort, and unbeatable location. It’s rare to find a home that feels tucked away in nature but is still within easy walking distance to everything downtown Blowing Rock has to offer—and that’s exactly what our place provides.
Guests love that they can park the car and leave it. A short stroll takes you to Main Street, where you’ll find fantastic restaurants, coffee shops, local boutiques, galleries, and the town park. Whether you’re in the mood for hiking, shopping, playing pickleball, or catching live music in the park, it’s all just minutes away on foot.
Inside, the home is spacious and thoughtfully laid out, making it perfect for families or groups. With 3 bedrooms, 2.5 baths, and a bonus movie room with a twin daybed and trundle, there’s room for everyone to spread out and relax. After a full day of exploring the Blue Ridge Parkway or hitting the slopes at Appalachian Ski Mountain, you’ll appreciate coming back to a cozy space where you can unwind.
The full kitchen is great for those who like to cook a few meals at home—whether it’s a big breakfast before heading out or a casual dinner after a busy day. And with plenty of parking, there’s no stress if you’re traveling with multiple vehicles or coming back late from a day trip.
We’ve designed The Carriage House to be a welcoming home base—comfortable, clean, and convenient, with little touches that make your stay easier and more enjoyable. It’s a place to reconnect, recharge, and make lasting memories while discovering everything Blowing Rock and the surrounding High Country have to offer.
