This sunny hillside 2 level home with ocean view is perfect for a weekend getaway or an extended sabbatical. The beautiful "ocean view", therapeutic "swim spa", and manicured garden with gazebo, all come together to offer you the perfect escape. Our local beach is less than a mile away, and there are plenty of local attractions and fine dining close by.

The upper and lower decks are perfect for entertaining, BBQing, or watching the sunset. The back garden, with its beautiful plantings, and gazebo, are a perfect retreat for morning coffee or afternoon tea.

UPPER LEVEL INCLUDES:

The main LIVING ROOM area, which has an open floor plan with cathedral open beamed ceiling, and beautiful hand scraped solid white oak flooring. There is a 52 inch 4K HDTV, with Xfinity TV /DVR, a Blue Ray Disk player, and a Bluetooth Sound Bar to stream your music apps.

Forced air central heating, keeps the home cozy and warm in winter.

The modern GOURMET KITCHEN is equipped with all Viking appliances, and dishwasher. All cookware, cooking utensils, dishes, and silverware are provided. The dining area table is expandable to seat 4 - 8 guests.

The upper deck has patio chairs for 6 guests, and a cocktail table, with umbrella. The BBQ grill is gas and charcoal fuel, and has a 'smoker' compartment.

The MASTER BEDROOM, which is on the upper level, has a queen bed, walk-in closet, chest of drawers, and a sitting area, a vanity sink area, and full bathroom, with tub & shower combo.

DOWN STAIRS - "CAUTION", there are stairs leading from the Living Room to the lower level. If you have small children, it is suggested that you bring your own barrier /gate, as there is none provided.

LOWER LEVEL INCLUDES:

Bedrooms 2 and 3, and one full bathroom, with tub & shower combo are on the lower level.

Bedroom 2 has a queen bed, a full mirrored closet, chest of drawers, and a beautiful view of the garden, and a 24" LCD HDTV, with Amazon Fire Stick.

Bedroom 3 has a full size fold down sofa sleeper and a "rollaway" twin size bed, a desk area / work space, with wired internet access, a printer, and a 32' SAMSUNG SMART TV, Hulu and Amazon ready.

Access to the lower deck, garden, and Swim Spa are on the lower level, through bedroom 3.

DISCLAIMER: SECURITY CAMERAS – For your security, and the security of our property, there are Security Cameras located outside ONLY. Two cameras are located in the front of the house, facing the driveway and front door entry. One camera is on the lower deck, focused on the sliding glass door and gate entrance ONLY. These cameras are FIXED, and are not movable. We, not a "service", are the only ones that have direct access to the camera recording system. If you have any questions or concerns please let me know.

We are located 7 miles south of Santa Cruz, in the city of Aptos, CA, in the coastal village of Rio Del Mar, near the Seascape Golf Club.

Our home is less than a mile from 'Bear Can Beach', down the hill on Clubhouse Drive, which has public parking and beach access on Via Palo Alto (see map). You can walk or bike ride to the beach.

Seascape Golf Club is less than 1/2 a mile down our street and is open to the public. For details, and Tee Times, visit their website.

There is shopping and fine dining at the Deer Park Shopping Center, just a 1 mile, on Rio Del Mar Blvd.

Major attractions inlcude:

Capitola Village, and the Famous SHADOW BROOK RESTAURANT is 5.5 miles, 11 minutes by car.

The world famous SANTA CRUZ BEACH & BOARDWALK is 10.5 miles, 20 minutes by car.

Monterey's FISHERMAN'S WHARF is 35 miles, 40 minutes drive

Welcoming home beautifully decorated inside and out!

This home is a very welcoming and beautifully decorated home. Everything you'll need is provided and labeled which made our stay relaxing and very comfortable. The garden in the backyard provided the perfect setting for an evening with friends. Definitely a home we'll be visiting again.

Relaxing and pristine retreat

We love staying at this lovely beach town home. Not only is it pristine, it is also very well and tastefully appointed. I enjoyed just sitting in the living room, with it's soothing aesthetic. We all enjoyed the view from the top deck, especially the hummingbirds who live in the trees. The swim spa was a welcome treat, after spending long days reuniting with family. Lastly, the kitchen is really well stocked and has all of the necessary appliances, cookery, and serving items for you to create an elegant dining experience (or just hang out in your swimsuit eating chips). The labeling system makes it very easy to put things away, which is good because we used lots of those things! The owner is an absolute sweetheart and went out of his way to ensure that we were situated and comfortable. We made the mistake of leaving some items in the dryer and he was kind enough to offer to drive them to us, if we were still local! So kind - you don't find that in most places that you rent. We shall look forward to staying again, on our next visit to see family in the area!

Too many house rules without flexibility and a/c only in high ceiling room; house was way too hot

Potential for enjoyment with location, garden and well stocked kitchen; but owner identified problem with very little proof (he said lots of fresh blood on bedding but showed photo with only few streaks of dry blood. We hadn't seen it when stripping bed and contested; also accused us of sand in hot tub and not showering before hot tub when we all had; he kept part of deposit anyway. Finally, price for weekend was higher than price on website when I booked it. Very disappointed in how we were treated.

Owner's Response: I believe this guest left a poor review in retaliation for the extra cleaning charge. To be fair, I communicated with guest by text and phone as to the reasons (explanation below) and amount of extra cleaning charge. We actually spent about 2 extra hours time, I only charged her for one hour. Guest had left behind an air mattress and other personal items, which I offered to ship to her, which I did the next day. Guest did pay for the shipping, I did not charge her for my time. Guest arrived on hottest day on record. Normally no A/C needed on the coast. I set up portable room A/C just for them. This guest told me they were pleased with there stay, until I told her that I was going to charge her for extra cleaning. I am the one who does the housecleaning. So I am eyewitness to the issues that arise after a guest checks out. The issues started as I arrived at 11:05 a.m to start cleaning. Check-out is at 11:00 am. There are clearly defined "check-out" procedures, which I insure every guest receives. I also go over the rules and procedures with them before they arrive, which I did. There is also a copy in a binder on the kitchen counter. 1. The guest had not yet left the house. I circled several times until they had finally departed about 20 minutes later. 2. As stated in the "Rules", Guest are required to wash and put away all dishes used or they could be charged for extra cleaning. The guest had partially filled the dishwasher, yet did not start the cycle. The kitchen counter top was covered with dish towels, and had wet dishes and glassware drying on top. I ended up having to reload the dishwasher with what was left out and run a cycle. 3. Guests are asked to remove all the sheets, towels, and soiled bedding, and bring to the laundry area, and to start a load. They started a half load, leaving towels and blood soiled bedding in the bathrooms, and bedroom. There were 2 extra loads of laundry. One had to be specially treated to remove the blood. The comforter had the most "fresh" blood, so it was rushed to treat the stain so it would not set, which is why I did not take a photo. Then found the mattress pad had blood stain also (photo sent). Lots of extra time to complete laundry. When asked about the blood, her daughter confessed to having a nose bleed. 4. The spa required extra cleaning because of so many bodies over a 3 day period. 5. The advertised rates are posted on the listing. The price breakdown is given to renters before they book and pay.

Aptos Home

The home was clean and updated. It was a short 5 minute drive to the beach and 1 minute from the shopping center. Although we did not use the jacuzzi, it looked clean. The bedrooms are somewhat small but accomodating. Michael was easy to deal with and helpful. Everything in the home was labeled, literally everything.

Owner's Response: 4 stars? Really? Was it because the rooms were "small"? According to your reservation, your group was 2 adults and 2 children. I assume you only used the master bedroom which is 16' x 12', with a bathroom and a separate vanity sink area, a queen size bed (sleeps 2 adults), and the 2nd bedroom which is 12' x 12' has a queen bed, which sleeps 2 children very comfortably. How much more space would you need in the bedrooms? And, we have a 3rd bedroom, with 2 beds. I am somewhat baffled by your review, since you really did not address anything that might be improved. I gave it my best effort to communicate with you, and asked you to let me know if you needed anything that might make your stay better. I had not heard from you during your stay. Nothing was mentioned in your review. So, I'm just curious as to why you would give us only 4 stars. Oh well.

This property is what it advertises, very well equipped, with some staples, condiments and more. The house was very clean and worked great with our elder couple staying in the upstairs bedroom
