About Adrienne Burgess
We are a couple who have worked mainly in the theatre and the arts, although Adrienne is now a writer/researcher specialising in fatherhood and Martin works as a communications coach. We have been renting out properties for almost 40 years.
Adrienne Burgess purchased this Apartment in 2001
Why Adrienne Burgess chose City of Westminster
The apartment is so light and airy and situated in such a lovely house in such a beautiful street, that we could not resist it! Various family members and friends have lived in it over the years. Now that they all have homes of their own, the time has come to share it with visitors to London - and so we have refurbished it (November 2016) to the highest standard.
What makes this Apartment unique
So luxuriously fitted, so centrally located and with such wonderful transport links! You can walk just about anywhere in London that matters, from the front door, or take the shortest of bike, bus or tube journeys. And the house itself, in which the apartment is located, is unbelievably quiet - both inside and out.

Our family of three (including a ten-year-old) had a fantastic time in London at this flat. Everything was thought of and prepared for, every detail perfect. We loved the quiet neighborhood location and the ease of catching the bus or underground to get around town. Highly recommended. If we ever find ourselves in London again (and I hope we do) we would love a second stay in the Victoria Violet flat!
It would have been difficult to have more delightful guests than your lovely family! Thank you for choosing us!
London home away from home
What a find this place is! They have thought of everything to make your stay amazing. From the instructions on how to locate the keys, to the helpful hints on how to find local shops and transportation to the wonderful linens and comfortable beds. I can’t begin to rave enough! The welcome basket was a thoughtful touch and came in handy after a long flight. This apartment is in a great, safe section of London and within walking distance to several historic sites.
We can’t thank you enough for making our stay so memorable. We look forward to coming back again!

Dear Diane and everyone - thank you so much for your glowing review. If we were able to write reviews of guests, mine would be equally glowing of you! Thank you so much for staying with us. We very much hope to welcome you again!
Wonderful flat and location
This flat was even better than described. Beautifully renovated and so well laid out and provisioned- had more than everything we needed and provided a level of luxury comfort. The basket of bread, butter, coffee, milk snacks and a bottle of wine was so thoughtful and appreciated.
Communication with the owner and their representative was timely, well organized and thorough. Everything from how to find the flat and access it easily, to best transportation and local restaurants.
This was a fantastic base for our mother-daughters trip to London. So central - much within easy walking distance (including the Chelsea Flower Show).
Thank you so much for taking the time to write such a lovely and long review! We are so glad our apartment met your needs and you were able to enjoy exploring London together. We hope to welcome you again!
Perfectly perfect for our London adventure
You always hope the preview lives up to the actual performance and for our London adventure this gem delivered a standing ovation!
I always say how you start is how you finish. First the instructions and details we received in advance of our arrival made life so easy. We flew into Gatwick from a long flight from Canada, and a little overwhelmed once we walked off the plane but upon arrival from the train at the Victoria station we just simply followed the instructions Adrienne provided and a 15 minute walk later we were settling into our launch pad for the week.
Located in a beautiful neigbourhood we got the immediate London vibe. The location couldn’t be more perfect, all things you need are a 10 minute walk away and once again listen to the recommdations and instructions and you will be more than pleased. Note; we felt very safe and never once felt like we couldn’t walk the area at any time of night..which we might have one or two nights.
The flat has every detail thought out. From a Welcome basket, to adapters it was all there.
The extra space to relax and having access to a washer allowed us to pack lighter and make extra room for all our keepsakes we found along the way. Quiet at night for our snoozing time, wonderfully updated fixtures, made us feel very relaxed as if we were at home.
Yes there are a few flights of stairs to climb but considering we put on 80k walking London in our 6 days what’s an extra couple flights.
The access to Victoria station made exploring easy on the train and when Adrienne recommends the 24 bus it’s for a great reason. You can access all things London and it’s a 10 minute walk away, just load your Oyster card.
We found a few of our own favourites in the area for food, Paradise Indian was awesome and also the Constituion Pub pours a great pint of Guinness. We did luck out on a walk up got two tickets to the long sold out Hamilton at the theatre just 15ish minute walk away, but Wicked plays in the same area if Theatre is on your to do list. Would suggest it should be. But a longer walk or a short 24 bus ride and you can access all you want.
What can we say. We loved it and we travel lots in North America so not newbies to rentals, so for our first trip to London it couldn’t have played a better role in our experience. Hope it does for you as well.
Thank you so much for hosting us!
Wow! Peter - thank you so much! Not only for the lovely LONG review (which must have taken you ages) but also for being gorgeous guests AND for the delightful 'thank you' note you left for us. It gives us huge pleasure to provide a comfortable 'nest' for visitors to London, and to learn that yo enjoy the neighbourhood we love, too. Happy onward travels and thanks again for everything!
Excellent property that made family trip amazing
Stayed at the property in the month of July 2018. Stayed with my Wife and Son (11 Months) The property was amazing. The bedroom is nice and the colored lighting was neat. The bathroom was very modern, clean, and perfect. The kitchen was modern, clean, and perfect size. There were plenty of dishes, pots, cups. etc. The dish washer and fridge are nicely hidden behind false cabinet faces. It was an extremely hot time when we were there, but the fans at night made it perfectly comfortable. The property is located less than 10 minutes from numerous places to eat and Victoria Station! If I go to London again I will definitely look at staying at the property again. The manager of the property was very responsive and was excellent to work with.
Thankyou for writing such a lovely and LONG review. We are so pleased we were able to make you both, and your little one, so comfortable. We'd love to welcome you again!
Excellent location and beautiful flat!
Highly recommend! Owners are lovely to work with. Very quiet, yet close to everything.
So glad you enjoyed the apartment - and the location. We look forward to welcoming you back soon!
Pimlico is a small, self-contained 'village', which sits between Chelsea and Westminster, on the River Thames. A recent newspaper article mentioned its ‘monumental terraces and white stucco homes http://www.homesandproperty.co.uk/area-guides/greater-london/spotlight-on-pimlico-31041.html
Pimlico (while in the heart of Westminster and just 20 minutes’ WALK from the Houses of Parliament) nevertheless has a pleasant ‘local feel’ and enjoys a wonderful array of local shops and restaurants and community facilities. Not only can you can walk from ‘the Alderney’ apartment to most of London’s main tourist attractions or go jogging along the Thames or up past Buckingham Palace into the beautiful adjoining parks – St James Park and Green Park. Bikes can be hired in the area. A few minutes’ walk takes you to an excellent Sports Centre (named for the Queen Mother!) with a great gym and three swimming pools, open to all. The district of Chelsea is also a stone’s throw from ‘the Alderney’: walk for ten minutes along the Pimlico Road, with its high-end design and antique shops, and you’ll find yourself in Sloane Square with the renowned Peter Jones department store and the famous Royal Court Theatre.
‘Pimlico is magical’ wrote the Guardian newspaper ‘packed with style and could hardly be more central, with Westminster Abbey for a parish church and Tate Britain for the local museum. And yet there's something in its streets that feels forgotten about, slightly overlooked, like a fragment of London left over from the days of Mary Poppins. You can still find bookbinders, market stalls . . . Important People rush past it en route for Victoria station . . .’ https://www.theguardian.com/money/2012/oct/26/lets-move-to-pimlico-london
