Longvue is a St Augustine Old-Florida Cottage located on an historic private island set on the Intracoastal Waterway (marker 36).

The house fronts 330’ of frontage on the North River surrounded by Guana/Tolomato Matanzas National Estuarine Research Reserve (73,000 acres) and Stokes Landing Conservation Preserve (300 acres). The 10 acre island is surrounded by rivers, marsh flats and fresh water ponds. Boat/Kayak to the National Reserve and walk the trails to S. Ponte Vedra Beach. The house is an open and bright 2,600 sf stucco/concrete block cottage with vaulted beam ceilings and french doors leading to wrap-around brick terrace. Property has full canopy of coastal live oaks and plenty of open yard to relax and enjoy the pristine aquatic and coastal preserve. The Master suite is downstairs with porch and three bedrooms upstairs (one a loft balcony). Separate Family / TV Room and office conservatory. About Joseph S. Cronk

We are a family of 6 who have lived on Medicis Island since 2003 when we were the only residents. We have two in college, two at home and live between St Augsutine and San Marco, Florida

Joseph S. Cronk purchased this house in 2003

Why Joseph S. Cronk chose Saint Augustine

Fishing, relaxing, a day on the boat to St. Augustine and the beaches. We have enjoyed Longvue cottage for over 15 years and it will always be a part of our extended family. Longvue cottage was built by the daughter and Dr. husband of the original owners of Diego island who purchased the property in 1945 after participating in the engineering and construction of the original IWC. He built the original cottage on the north side of the island which remains a family retreat.

What makes this house unique

330' of marsh river frontage on over 1 acre. Open yard space on both sides offers privacy with a live oak canopy for shade. The island is surrounded by national & state parks and the views are east to Guana State Park and South to Stokes State Park so only two houses in sight in 360 degrees. Ocean breezes over the water keep the evening cool and help with bugs in the summer.

Coastal Florida charm

  • 4 of 5

Your home was so comfortable and inviting. The breezes were wonderful and we spent a lot of time sitting on the rear porch watching the coastal wildlife and changing scenery. In fact, we didn't feel the need to go anywhere else. Even though this was a bachelorette weekend event, we enjoyed our time here so much we're talking about making this an annual retreat! One challenge we experienced was deciding which adult got stuck with the top bunk.

The property and surrounding area was just beautiful.

  • 3 of 5

The house floorplan was nice and was decorated tastefully. At high tide, the pier provided a perfect place to fish for Redfish. Sunrise and sunsets were spectacular. The only negative experience were the roaches. All sizes and varieties would come out at night. Hopefully, a visit from the bug exterminator will correct that because the house and property are stellar.

Great House, Great Location, Great Views!!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I enjoyed our stay for a number of reasons. The house itself is beautiful and provides great views in a peaceful and quiet setting. It was very easy to find and was a short drive into St. Augustine. Joseph was very quick to respond to any questions or concerns we had. This property was also a great place for our dog to explore. We would definitely recommend this property to anyone traveling to the St. Augustine area. The early check-in time and late check-out time was an added bonus. Thank you Joseph for sharing your home!!

Beautiful home, picturesque setting

  • 5 of 5

The owners of this home were very accommodating and very helpful with any questions we had. The home is located in such a beautiful and relaxing area, we could not have been happier! The house was so tastefully decorated and had everything you need for your stay- a binder that included some favorite restaurants and information about the area (things to do, etc). We had such a wonderful stay, we are hoping to make this an annual trip. Thank you!!

A romantic, relaxing, private enclave

  • 5 of 5

What a gorgeous place! My husband and I spent 4 days with my in laws visiting from France— and our Italian Greyhound— in this beautiful, French style country house by the marsh. It’s perfectly located 20 min from Old Saint Augustine. It also has a Publix 10 min away.

We are already planning on going back!!

Thanks to the Cronk family for sharing with us this amazing property :)

The Perfect Place to Do Everything...or Nothing at All!

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful house amplified by its gorgeous surroundings! From fishing to kayaking, shopping downtown to strolling along the nearby beaches, we had an absolutely incredible time! In fact, our boys (12 and 15 -- not easy ages to impress) said it was their favorite vacation we've taken! Thanks so much for allowing to make lifetime memories!
