Splendid Family Holiday!!!

Dear Enza an Paolo, also on this way again thank you very much for a fantastic stay at "I Gelsi". We have had an unforgetable time in your place. The location was perfect for relaxation at the beautyfull pool, but also for seightseeing at almost all famous tuscany places that one wants to see (Siena, Arrezo, San Gimignano, Pisa, Luca, Firenze...). Located imidiatly at the Chianti wine street the appartment was perfect for our family needs. We felt imbedded in your family. On behalf of my family we wish to say thank you for all your effort and the invitation on our last evening during our stay. We definetly want to return and recomand your place from the bottom of our hearts to anyone.

Best summer at the olive farm

We had a pleasant and relaxing stay for two weeks in July 2017. The apartment with a private terrace was perfect for our family. The pool was lovely and rather large - perfect for a swim. The surroundings are beautiful with the house placed in the hills above The Valdarno Valley. Lots of olive trees in a typical Tuscany landscape. The hosts, Enza and Paulo with children, are very friendly and helpful. They do everything to make your stay comfortable and cosy. We really enjoyed our stay at "I Gelsi" and would highly recommend ther place.

A faboulous place to relax and enjoy in Tuscany

My family stayed during one week enjoying of quiet and good views of I Gielsi. Enza and Paolo are the perfect hosts who want to find a family. The house is perfect to 4 persons. Comfortable and well equipped, my daughters appreciated the wifi and I loved your terrace and garden. It's a good place to combine visits to Florencia with Siena, Arezzo and the beautiful Chianti villages.Definitely would repeat. Un abrazo desde España

10 days of bliss

Enza, Paulo and her family made us welcome from the moment we arrived.This was no surprise as through the whole booking process Enza was more than accommodating and couldn't do enough to be of assistance. We have travelled extensively over the years and our stay ranks as one of our most enjoyable experiences.The whole family worked very hard through our stay to make our experience memorable.We used our accommodation as a oasis of calm for our sightseeing visits to Pisa and Florence.Our memories are of relaxing by the pool overlooking the Tuscan countryside and visualising those memorable views. We got up in the middle of the night on a couple of nights around the time of the feast of San Lorenzo to watch shooting stars across the night sky.This was a magical experience.The rolling hills of Tuscany are one of a handful places in the world to watch these shooting stars in their majesty.These shooting stars being the embers of a comet.We would also sit on the viewpoint at the property as the sun went down relaxing and sipping upon glasses of wine.My daughters aged 9 and 19 enjoyed going horse riding nearby overlooking the tracts of the beautiful estate owned by Sting of "The Police".My youngest enjoyed her games of table tennis in the games room with her dad and the many games we played by the pool.It was a very relaxing holiday.We have no hesitation in recommending this as a beautiful place to stay and look forward to returning in the future.

Enza is an Italian born midwife who returned to Florence from the United Kingdom in the late 1980s. Her husband Paolo is a Florentine photographer and together they live in one wing of the main house with their two children enjoying a traditional Italian family lifestyle.


During Summer Enza takes advantage of the home grown produce to create preserves and sauces and of course, in Autumn, everyone helps with producing Olive Oil from the groves surrounding their house.

In 1998 Paolo and Enza Carlini fell in love with a large farmhouse set on 14 acres of land, in a beautiful position above the 13th century town of Figline Valdarno with stunning views of the Tuscan countryside.

They slowly and carefully restored the house preserving the original character and charm, deciding to name the property after the numerous Mulberry trees that surround the house. The grounds offer privacy and plenty of opportunity to experience the atmosphere of the italian countryside with enjoyable walks through fields and wooded copse. However you are still only 10 minutes from the centre of Figline, and it's charming Piazza, modern amenities and frequent rail service to both Florence and Rome.

Though peaceful and rural, I Gelsi is within easy reach of many of the Medieval towns and cities of Tuscany and makes a superb base for touring this wonderful region.

I Gelsi boasts a large infinity pool which is positioned so that the wonderful view of the surrounding countryside can be enjoyed in sunshine from early in the morning to sunset.

A substantial brick built, rustic barbecue, located away from the apartments to prevent smoke nuisance, is available for everyone to use and perhaps try out "Bistecca alla Fiorentina".
