About Steve Young

The Young family comes from Central & South Florida, most recently living just outside of Fort Lauderdale, FL. We moved to Costa Rica at the end of 2013 in search of a new career providing great vacation experiences! We have 2 young children who love the outdoors and love to play at the beach as often as possible. Our goal is to provide our guests with as much help and information to ensure that they are comfortable and get as much out of their vacation time as possible!

Steve Young purchased this house in 2013

Why Steve Young chose Uvita

Uvita is a unique location in Costa Rica in that there are tons of activities and attractions, yet it has not been overdeveloped. While here, you feel like you are far removed from civilization in a remote location, yet still close enough to enjoy our creature comforts that we're used to.

Casa Rio at Manoas is a beautiful home perched on a ridge overlooking the union of 2 rivers, with stunning mountain views and a very private jungle backdrop. We immediately fell in love with it's private feel, beautiful landscape and amazing display of wildlife (especially if you're a birder)!

What makes this house unique

Take a hike down to the union of the Uvita and Ballena Rivers to swim in the many swimming holes, or to simply relax and enjoy the sounds of the jungle and rushing rivers. There are also numerous jungle hiking trails to explore, as well as a large swimming hole and waterfall just up the Uvita river!

The house had even more than what was needed. Perfect location for natural escape.

  • 5 of 5

The house is really well equipped, now it seems to be it is confortable for 8 instead of 10. Also the road requires 4WD vehicles and I dont recall seeing it anywhere luckily we didn't had any problem. The pool had an amazing view it was really beautiful.

A magical and surreal getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Staying at Casa Rio in Manoas was one of the most memorable experiences of my life. Falling asleep to the hum of cicadas, nestled along the river and surrounded by jungle in such lovely accommodations was truly unforgettable. The owners were warm and welcoming and tended to our every need. Whether it was arranging waterfall tours, recommending amazing local ceviche or helping us navigate our way around town, they never missed a beat. The oversized luxury kitchen, intimate dining deck and pool with a view made for the perfect vacation! We loved it so much, we've decided to go back every year!!

We have found our annual getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I stayed in one of the bedrooms with a group of long time friends in February of 2015. It was absolute heaven! Hearing the sounds of the Costa Rican wildlife peppered over the steady flow of the two rivers rocked me to sleep every night. Only to awake to Lucy - the hired chef - cooking breakfast every morning. With fresh fruit and coffee to boot. With hiking, surfing, rafting, zip-lining, ATV'ing all at your disposal, this destination is a must!

The pool is perfect after a long day under the hot sun and the outdoor dining area upstairs is perfect for serving up your fresh catch of the day.

Do yourself a favor, check this place out! Maybe we will see you next year!

Uvita is home to many outdoor activities that range from tranquil to exhilerating! Our personal favorites are surfing, white water rafting, stand up paddle boarding and river/waterfall hikes. There is also a animal rescue center nearby that houses many local animals during their rehabilitation process - a great way to learn about the local fauna.

Uvita is also home to the Marino Ballena National Park, where you can view the stunning Whale's Tail sand formation. It is also a protected marine environment and there are many opportunities to view whales, dolphins, sea turtles and many other types of marine animals. There are numerous beaches in the area, and they are all unique! Playa Ventanas is a favorite of ours, with caves right on the beach to explore at low tide!

There are many restaurants in the area that range from innexpensive/casual, to fine dining. Another option is to hire one of the numerous private chefs in the area to come cook your meal at Casa Rio! The large grocery store is also just a 2km drive from Casa Rio, making it easy to stock up on supplies for your beach trip or cook your own meal.
