Now renting for 2016, MONTHLY ONLY, this is a fabulous spot for your vacation, you are in the heart of Thames Street, and you will not miss a thing. This is a two level unit, (2nd & 3rd floors) with a water view from the third floor living room area, 3 bedrooms and 2.5 bathrooms. The stone/brick paved back yard is completely private, with outdoor furniture and a gas grill.
As you enter the unit to head upstairs, there is a new full bathroom on the 1st floor, complete with washer/dryer, stall shower, vanity, etc. Great for the return from the beach to shower off, and not trail sand throughout!
The eat in kitchen is freshly painted, with colorful tile countertops, and all fresh new kitchen equipment. There is one double bed room off the kitchen. This floor has a 1/2 bath as well. The living room furniture is all brand new, with a flat screen TV with basic cable and internet/wireless. Off the living is a large queen bedroom.
Heading up to the third floor makes you realize how unique this property actually is. The third bedroom is a queen, with a private porch/sitting area off the side of the room. Full walk in closet with lots of storage. The full marble tile bathroom has a shower, and a huge tub. The common sitting area has the view, with futon couch and seating, but you will probably rarely shut the French doors that open out on Thames Street and the view.
The owner of this property fell in love with Newport when arriving on board a boat several years ago. He uses any excuse to come back to Newport, and plans on eventually living here on a more permanent basis. The sailing community is active and thriving, the beautiful yachts that are in the harbor are incredible, the fantastic restaurants, the history of the town, and the whole atmosphere of Newport makes it a special place. The white sand beaches are spectacular, biking around the drive, Cliff Walk, the mansions, surfing, diving, fishing - it is all here and ready for you to enjoy.
We arrived with coffee, milk and orange jive in the fridge. Beautiful room under the roof, outstanding bathrooms, everything you can have.
A bit noisy if you sleep with the window opens.
We had the best month EVER in Newport. I would highly recommend this location for all that Newport has to offer. It is walking distance to restaurants, grocery stores and historical spots. I enjoyed parking my car and not moving it until it was time to go. The side garden was so much fun to barbecue and eat outside with a large group. I enjoyed when we had visiting college students they could be upstairs studying, and my brother and wife in the garden, my husband watching Wimbledon and I had the kitchen to myself. Lots of room for everyone to have some privacy. The master suite has a huge walkin closet, private writing room off the bedroom and ginormous bathroom with a steam shower. In addition, there is a sitting room with a mini balcony that opens up to reveal a great spot for watching fireworks, the action on Thames as well as sunset. This sitting room provides additional spot to house guests with a fold out sofa/ futon. The private garden, complete with evening fairy lights was great for housing bikes and beach stuff. My favorite kind of day started with coffee from Mokka, a croissant from Rosemary and Thyme then a bike ride to Breton Point. Lunch in the garden then off to "Rejects Beach"( Baileys), a beach for "locals". Dinner at Scales and then off to find music. Monday at the Fastnet, Tuesday at Newport Blues, Jazz Wednesday at The Vanderbilt Grace rooftop bar. Thurs at the Meeting Place, Friday -check the local paper to see who is in town. We went to the Folk Festival, Bridge Festival and even heard the Beach Boys play at a local Fundraiser from our balcony. With the multi levels and stairs this wouldn't be the best house for young children or disabled seniors. The front bedroom heard lots of engaging pick up lines when the bars closed. that was remedied by closing a window and putting a fan in the off street window. We loved going to the Newport Gulls baseball games after dinner at Mudville. The property manager was outstanding and answered all requests in record time. I had a problem with a light flashing in the kitchen and an electrician was there within hours. It turned out someone had pushed the dimmer switch and that caused the light to flash. We had a wonderful month with lots of visitors and will definitely come back again.
Monthly only. There is never a lack of things to do in Newport during the summer. Most of the great restaurants are in walking distance, and quite frankly, you really don't need to move your car in the evenings! Zelda's, The Oyster Bar, Thames Street Kitchen, all great food and atmostphere. Or walk down to the Wharf, and have drinks and fresh at the Lobster Bar with live music, or steaks at 22 Bowens, or hang outside at the Pearl bar. During the days, you have a selection of beaches, for body surfing Second Beach in Newport, or surfing at First Beach where you can rent the gear, or lazy days at Gooseberry Beach on the drive. For history, the mansion tours or walk the Cliff Walk, or tour Ocean Drive, there is something for everyone all the time!
