Home is located at the end of a street in a quiet association. You won't be able to see your neighbors as it is quite secluded. It backs up to Hickory Run State Park with all its natural wonders such as boulder fields, hiking trails and water falls. It is close to hunting, fishing, white water rafting, skiing, paint ball, horseback riding, lakes and everything the Poconos has to offer.
This is a great location if you're looking to get out and have an adventure or if you're just looking for a quiet get-a-way. The home has a fireplace and wrap around deck allowing you to either snuggle up on cold winter nights or sit outside and enjoy nature Spring through Fall. Deer, bear and wild turkeys are often seen on and around the property.
The association in which this home resides does not have a pool or swimming lake however we are minutes away from Hickory Run State park's lake which we often frequent and highly recommend.
We continue to update the house. In October and November of 2015 we put rug on the steps leading to the lower level, installed a new dishwasher, installed a new 50" flat screen HD TV on an articulating arm in the lower level, and painted the living room, dining room, kitchen and hallways. In March of 2016, we added a large amount of stone to the driveway making it a little more level from the road. View the picture under "photos" to see the difference this made.
On June 23rd 2016, we got new dining room furniture and a new sleeper sofa. We love the new furniture and especially the sleeper sofa and know you will to. Nothing like the old style sleeper sofa with the springs you can feel when you lay down. This one has a memory foam mattress and is a pleasure to sleep on.
On August 14th 2016, we got a new queen size futon for the lower level bedroom. The larger futon makes it a lot more comfortable, both due to the larger size and upgraded mattress.
Please be aware that the new Turnpike entrance is EZPass Only!

About Kerry Hummel
We are from the Philadelphia area. Married with five children. I moved here in 2010 when I got a job in the area and our family loved it. I have since moved on in my career and moved back to the Philadelphia area but we couldn't let this house go. We are up all the time and with the new EZ-pass that just opened on the Turnpike, we can make it to our Pocono hide-a-way in no time. When it's not rented, you're sure to find us there.
Kerry Hummel purchased this House in 2010
Why Kerry Hummel chose Penn Forest Township
We love it for it's seclusion and proximity to so many things. We take full advantage of all nature has to offer as you'll see from the pics and when you come to visit. Having an open floor plan for the living room, dining room and kitchen make it great for visiting with friends and family.
What makes this House unique
Wood burning fireplace. There's nothing like the smell of a good fire. Very large wrap around deck where you get to look at nothing but the forest and often see all types of wildlife.

Great place close to Big Boulder
Great place! Clean, with all of the conveniences of home. Kerry (owner) was easy to work with and promptly responded to all of my messages! I would highly recommend staying here.
We're so glad you enjoyed your stay and were happy to respond to your questions! We love to share our experiences and suggest places to go. We're close to several other ski resorts and attractions in the area as well. There really is an endless amount of activities in the area. We look forward to having you stay again to take in even more of what the Poconos has to offer. Thanks for the review!
Very clean and comfortable
This is a perfect location for hiking hickory run forest. The owner was very hospitable and attentive. The beds were amazingly comfortable
Thanks for the great review, we're so glad you enjoyed your stay! The weather has been so crazy, we're glad to hear you were able to get out and do some hiking. There are so many hiking trails in the area with breathtaking views. We hope to have you back again soon!
It was a great getaway. We had a lot of fun there. It was a well equipped house with everything you need. We did find out that the sofa can be turned into a bed too late. The only reason i gave 4 stars is because there was a leak in a the bathroom downstairs but then again i believe they’ll work/have worked on it. Thank you Hummels!
Pleasant Pocono Property
Comfortable home for our family of 4 adults/2 kiddos. Very quiet, at the end of the road. Kerry (owner) was awesome to work with before & during our stay! The weather didn't cooperate for us to take advantage of all the outdoor activities, but that didn't stop our grand kids from testing out the swing set/trampoline/exploring around the property. Lots of toys & movies to keep them occupied. My granddaughter loved the dollhouse. Much better than staying in a hotel!
Make sure you call ahead to verify hours for the trash transfer center. My husband made a special trip after we cleaned up the home to take all the trash/recyclables, only to find it closed & had to go to plan B. (Tuesday mid- morning) This was the only negative issue we had & not the fault of the owner.
Private, peaceful place in a good area
This is a nice home and the host was pleasant. I do recommend it, though I have some minor complaints and suggestions for improvement. The game room had crumbs all over the couch and floor (I expect more from a $100 cleaning fee). Directions to the house could be clearer. Guests also have to haul their trash to a remote transfer station, which was closed on the day we checked out. The host might want to notify guests of these hours so they don't waste a trip. The host gave plenty of helpful information on other things, though, especially about local services, and was friendly and easy to work with. We enjoyed our stay overall.
Thanks for the review. Sorry for the inconveniences you faced during your stay. We take a lot of pride in providing a clean and comfortable vacation home and were upset to learn that we missed cleaning the futon. We will be sure that does not happen again!
Directions to the home can be challenging if using GPS. That is why we provide each of our guests with a map of the association. Certain roads are blocked by the association, to limit traffic through it. In the past, when they opened those roads, the traffic increased dramatically, taking away from the peaceful tranquility that we go there for. When you get to the house once, it is very easy to then go to and from.
As discussed, regarding the transfer station, we completely agree and wish there was some other way to dispose of the trash. Unfortunately, that is set up by the township and the only way to do it. The hours are listed on the transfer card and arrangements were made for you to leave the trash at the home.
We are glad you did enjoy your stay, other than those items listed, and hope you'll consider renting again. We strive for a five-star stay for all of our guests, and hope to have the opportunity to make a better impression if given the chance!
Beautiful home and clean. We had a fantastic time together as a family. Mr. Hummel was very responsive to our questions.
Thanks so much for the review. We really appreciate it. We're glad you enjoyed your stay and hope to see you again!
