Overview

About the property

Flat yard, Watauga river access, sun room, gazebo, fire pit, great location

Please email us to book.

Got Rocks? We sure do.. This river property is a great place for a family vacation, a quiet escape, a ski trip in the winter, or some river fun in the summer. A short drive off Highway 105, this property is a central location to all the High County has to offer. Nestled at the foot of the Grandfather Mountain, you are minutes away from the profile, but also close to larger areas like Boone and Banner Elk.

Basic amenities include Direct TV and Internet, however you may not need them in the summer as you may want to sit outside on the back deck or gazebo swing and enjoy the soothing waters of the Watauga River. Flat land is at a premium in the mountains, and this property has an acre of flat land and the yard is a great place to bring the kids to play or fish along the river. A fire pit at the edge of the yard is also available for your use, with a small creek going by that feeds into the Watauga River.

The home has been recently renovated and has been expanded to include generous decking and a sunroom. The kitchen is adjacent to the open concept family living and dining room areas. The home has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The Master Bedroom has fantastic views of the river and has its own private bathroom.

You will enjoy this river retreat. This home is perfect for families, couples or a group of friends getting away for the weekend. There is lots to do from hiking and shopping in the summer to skiing in the winter. This location is a short 5 minute driver from Sugar Mountain Ski resort. Why stay in a small hotel room when you can enjoy the beauty of the mountains from your back deck?

**Note, this VRBO is not in Echota, if it comes up in the search that way, it is the closest listing to Boone we could select

**Property may only be available to rent with a 3-4 minimum night stay around holidays. Please inquire about dates as we will try our best to accommodate.

About Wesley Crum

Wesley Crum purchased this house in 2016

Why Wesley Crum chose Blue Ridge Mountains

We acquired this property in 2016 because of its excellent location and beautiful flat yard. The home itself was in need of a renovation, and with our remodel we believe you will find it the perfect mountain vacation place. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we do!

Labor Day 2017 Bliss

  • 5 of 5

The pictures online don't do this place justice. Our favorite spot was sitting in the gazebo listening to the water with coffee in the morning and wine in the afternoon. The bed in the master was very comfortable and you could hear the river, which lulled you into sleep. There were little surprises all over the property. We took two plastic chairs and set them up on the flat part of the yard next to the river. Our dog loved exploring and playing in the river. Sitting around the fire pit was a perfect way to spend our last night. The only improvement to our perfect weekend would be screens on the windows in the main house. There are neighbors, but you really don't notice they are there. It felt very private. You can hear Highway 105 when big trucks drive by, but it is what it is. It is a perfect location because it is close to everything, but you feel like you're in your own little mountain paradise. Please do yourself a favor and stop at Maw's, a local farmer's market (cash only), off Hwy 105 in Foscoe. Other places we discovered and loved, Booneshine Brewery and Hatchet Coffee, both in Boone. Hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did.

Nice place but has road noise.

  • 3 of 5

The outside area is very nice. It has a fire pit, gazebo overlooking a stream, sun room, bar-b-que pit and back porch. There was nothing fantastic about the inside and furnishing. It was clean except for the dog hairs and a couple of fleas. We do have a dog but we don't take it on vacations or let her come inside unless the weather is freezing. If you can get past the occasional truck noise, the water rushing over the rocks is very soothing. It is a remodeled double wide. The owners have done a good job with what they had to work with. The price $120 is a shade bit high but the other fees are low. I think this property is suited for most travelers.

Owner's Response: We have reached out to VRBO to have this review changed or edited. This guest left a fair amount of trash in the house which required additional cleanup. We can assure that the home does not have fleas and this is a misrepresentation of our property. Please reference our other reviews and reviews on VRBO.com/279527. We have rented with VRBO for 10 years, to pet and non-pet owners alike and never had this type of complaint. Many times we personally inspect the homes before guest arrival. We do not try to misrepresent our property, so please see our pictures and description before booking. We are also very responsive to guests so message us if you have any questions. We live and work 5 minutes from this home.

Home Away From Home

  • 5 of 5

This was the 4th Summer that we have spent in the Boone area for a week. We have stayed at a different cabin/cottage each year. When I found this home on the internet, I immediately knew that this was a very special place just by looking at the pics. When we arrived, I realized the pics fell way short of portraying the awesomeness (is that a word?) of this property. The home is beautifully maintained and very well situated. Boone, Banner Elk and Blowing Rock are just a stones throw away. The home has every convenience necessary for an enjoyable stay. And guess what, there is no crazy 45 degree inclined driveway to ascend.

Perfect Location and Comfortable

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay and likely will stay there again next year. My sister lives near Boone and my son and his family live in Linville so the location made it easy to visit them without a lot of extra driving time. The house was clean, nicely furnished and just really comfortable and relaxing to stay in. Thanks so much for sharing it and we will see you again next year about the same time if not sooner.
