About the property

Flat yard, Watauga river access, sun room, gazebo, fire pit, great location

Please email us to book.

Got Rocks? We sure do.. This river property is a great place for a family vacation, a quiet escape, a ski trip in the winter, or some river fun in the summer. A short drive off Highway 105, this property is a central location to all the High County has to offer. Nestled at the foot of the Grandfather Mountain, you are minutes away from the profile, but also close to larger areas like Boone and Banner Elk.

Basic amenities include Direct TV and Internet, however you may not need them in the summer as you may want to sit outside on the back deck or gazebo swing and enjoy the soothing waters of the Watauga River. Flat land is at a premium in the mountains, and this property has an acre of flat land and the yard is a great place to bring the kids to play or fish along the river. A fire pit at the edge of the yard is also available for your use, with a small creek going by that feeds into the Watauga River.

The home has been recently renovated and has been expanded to include generous decking and a sunroom. The kitchen is adjacent to the open concept family living and dining room areas. The home has 3 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms. The Master Bedroom has fantastic views of the river and has its own private bathroom.

You will enjoy this river retreat. This home is perfect for families, couples or a group of friends getting away for the weekend. There is lots to do from hiking and shopping in the summer to skiing in the winter. This location is a short 5 minute driver from Sugar Mountain Ski resort. Why stay in a small hotel room when you can enjoy the beauty of the mountains from your back deck?

**Note, this VRBO is not in Echota, if it comes up in the search that way, it is the closest listing to Boone we could select

**Property may only be available to rent with a 3-4 minimum night stay around holidays. Please inquire about dates as we will try our best to accommodate.

About Wesley Crum

Wesley & Suzanne Crum work and own the local golf and ladies apparel store in downtown Foscoe next to the Citgo gas and deli station. Their store is called Club Shop Peanuts and Golf, and is located only a few minutes from this rental.

Wesley Crum purchased this house in 2016

Why Wesley Crum chose Banner Elk

We acquired this property in 2016 because of its excellent location and beautiful flat yard. The home itself was in need of a renovation, and with our remodel we believe you will find it the perfect mountain vacation place. We hope you will enjoy it as much as we do!

Wonderful getaway!

  • 5 of 5

My husband & I & our two dogs had a great stay at Got Rocks. It was just perfect for us. The location is centrally located for our activities. We spent an afternoon in Roan Mountain TN. We enjoyed Moses Cone & Julian Price Parks on the Blue Ridge Parkway. We went to lovely downtown Blowing Rock. Boone is close by and has several grocery stores and most anything you would need. And we spent one day just enjoying the yard and the river and just being at the house. The house, by the way, is very comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked. And it was nice to find a clean, usable grill for our cookout. We would look forward to going back to this property.

Great River House!

  • 5 of 5

Our party of two adults and one small dog thoroughly enjoyed our stay.

The house is convenient to both Banner Elk and to Boone/Blowing Rock, so drives into those towns were very easy.

The property itself if lovely, with the river and a side stream bordering the property and providing great atmosphere. I saw "road noise" noted as an issue in a prior review, but in my experience the sound of the river cancelled out all but the very loudest noise from the road above. I actually forgot the road was there myself, only noticing it when I looked up for it.

The fire pit by the stream and the gazebo were great and were both used.

The owner was easy to with with and provided all needed info without any of it having to be requested.

We enjoyed our stay and would gladly rent this property again.

Great mountain retreat!

  • 4 of 5

The shrubery outside seemed a little overgrown when we pulled up the drive, but once we got inside, it was perfect. Everything was very clean and well kept. You could mildly hear the creek outside our bedroom window, which was very relaxing. It was just a wonderful "get away" place to be. We've already decided to to book this one again for next fall!

perfect place for a perfect weekend

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I along with our daughter and her 2 spaniels had a glorious weekend at 'Got Rocks'. The house is charming, clean, nicely furnished and well equipped for cooking (although next time I would probably bring a sharp knife). The gazebo and deck and the fire pit area were wonderful outdoor areas, and the enclosed porch afforded us a comfortable space when the weather got a bit chilly.

Proximity to the water was great and the dogs loved being able to explore the creek and then race around the large grassy yard. We did a very short hike to Beacon Heights and the view was stunning. Prior to arrival, we had lunch at Vidalia in Boone, and one day we got take-out from 'Eat Crow". Both restaurants had excellent food with large portions.

Our time was entirely too brief, but I am confident we will return for a longer period of R&R.

Thanks for such a gem of a place and for being "pet friendly"

One correction should be made. The Home Away driving directions coming from Boone on Hwy 105 indicate that the turn onto JH McLean Rd is a right turn, but it actually is a Left.

We enjoyed our stay. Very nice clean house in a great location. We went into banner elk a few times for dinner, only a few mins away from the house.

Labor Day 2017 Bliss

  • 5 of 5

The pictures online don't do this place justice. Our favorite spot was sitting in the gazebo listening to the water with coffee in the morning and wine in the afternoon. The bed in the master was very comfortable and you could hear the river, which lulled you into sleep. There were little surprises all over the property. We took two plastic chairs and set them up on the flat part of the yard next to the river. Our dog loved exploring and playing in the river. Sitting around the fire pit was a perfect way to spend our last night. The only improvement to our perfect weekend would be screens on the windows in the main house. There are neighbors, but you really don't notice they are there. It felt very private. You can hear Highway 105 when big trucks drive by, but it is what it is. It is a perfect location because it is close to everything, but you feel like you're in your own little mountain paradise. Please do yourself a favor and stop at Maw's, a local farmer's market (cash only), off Hwy 105 in Foscoe. Other places we discovered and loved, Booneshine Brewery and Hatchet Coffee, both in Boone. Hope you enjoy your stay as much as we did.
