About this property

Trapper's Cabin is perfect for a couple or a family. Economically priced at $250.00 (not including taxes. GST and Hotel Tax add 9% to the rental price) per night for up to four people. (over four people is $20.00 per extra person per night plus tax.) It has three double beds and two double bed mattresses in the loft. It has a kitchen, bathroom, dining area and a fantastic view. If extra beds are needed there are R.V. rentals available also that can be brought to the site for you near the cabin. Tents can also be put up on the land. (25.00 per tent per night) Bedding and towels are provided and the furnished kitchen is great for cooking your own meals. It is set in a very private beautiful treed area yet only 5 minutes from the main highway. Goose Island Pond is right out the front windows and is frequented by Canadian Geese, Loons and Beavers. It has a heritage theme with the area's legendary characters pictures and histories on the walls. Truly a unique and pleasant experience. There is a large beautiful fisherman's lake just down the hill (Payne Lake) and the hamlet of Mountain View is only 4 km east where food and gas can be purchased. You will also enjoy the array of wild flowers on the grassy hills beside the cabin. There is also a 2 km hike that can be taken up to Little Beaver Lake near by. Of course Waterton National Park is a must see and offers horse rides, boat rides, restaurants, mountain trails, vast lakes and fantastic wild flowers and wild life to enjoy. The townsite of Waterton is only 20 minutes away.

Family 3 day getaway.

Views and wildlife spotting are wonderful, we even saw a moose in the water one evening. Everything you need for a quiet getaway, and close to Waterton.

This cabin is perfect if your looking for peace and tranquillity. It was so nice to be away from the crowds Absolutely stunning location beautiful sunsets witnessed up on the hill. I would definitely return and recommend

Nice and Peaceful

The cabin was just as described and fit our needs nicely. It's proximity to Waterton Lake National Park was good. The only issue we had was getting to the property. The directions failed to include the code to the gate. The host responded immediately when we asked for a code, but the code she provided did not work. We were able to get in when a nice neighbor approached us at the gate and, when told we were trying to get to Trapper's Cabin, gave us a code that worked. That was the only glitch in an otherwise excellent trip.

Great secluded spot

This is a great rustic cabin tucked away from everything but close to Waterton. We only spent a couple nights here as a base for exploring Waterton. I wouldn’t have minded an extra day just to chill on the front porch to read and bird watch.

First Anniversary

We stayed here to celebrate our first anniversary, it was a beautiful spot to be able to do so. It’s convenient to access Waterton and was pet friendly. We enjoyed the ability to cook meals and have the property to ourselves. The host checked in with us prior to arrival and was very helpful. We will be back again, five stars from us.

Quiet, relaxing stay

Great stay for bird/wildlife watchers. Wonderful pond to watch from the deck in the morning and evening light. Cabin was comfortable and had everything we needed. Two thumbs up.

Leave your stress behind!

Trapper’s Cabin is a step into relaxation. Quite remote but comfortably so. Very rustic but everything you could want for. Cheryl was extremely good with communication and providing little things we requested. Highly recommend!

Property was ideal for our family.

It was clean, quiet and isolated. Just what we were looking for. Also close to waterton national park and some great hiking. Property had some small paths and trails to hike. I would rent this property again and most likely will.

Trappers cottage comments

We enjoyed our stay, it has a rustic setting with a pond with beavers and ducks. They require that clients purchase their own shampoo, shower soap, paper towels, which is an inconvenience. Property did not have a hair dryer, dried my hair with the fan. They also require tenants to strip their own beds before leaving and to leave everything spic and span. We booked this property because they did allow pets, which is hard to find around Waterton.

So memorable

We really enjoyed our stay in this cabin. The accommodations were clean but basic, as expected. Plenty of dishes etc. and the appliances all worked as expected. But honestly, the reason to stay here is it is a really scenic setting. At night, we could see the milky way so clearly without any other lights obstructing our view. At dusk and dawn, moose and owls came to the lake where a beaver was always busy swimming around. It was just a wonderful place to start and end our days in the Waterton area. We'd definitely return if we can ever get back.

Sunset and Bird Paradise

Cute cabin tucked near a beautiful pond with abundant bird life. The cabin was comfortable for our party of 7. It is basic, but that's part of the charm. Each day we relaxed into the beauty around us. The pond changes throughout the day with light and wildlife. We experienced incredible sunsets and the wildlife highlight were two great horn owls. Would love to return!

Pleasant getaway

Beautiful place. The cabin has everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The view to the pond is beautiful. We saw a white-tailed doe and her fawn approaching the pond one morning. It was a good chance to unplug from your mobile devices but there is cellular phone coverage if needed.

Magical!

This spot is so special. Every morning our 23 month old would charge onto the deck to say good morning to the mama ducks and their babies swimming in the pond. We saw 3 moose and a fox and so many beautiful birds. Hoping to be back very soon!

This is a great place if you want quiet and isolation. It's pretty windy so if you don't like wind, it's not the place for you.

Nice quiet retreat!

Nice location to Waterton Park! We enjoyed the quietness of the cabin and the room it provided for our family. Our kids enjoyed watching the mother ducks and their ducklings and we saw a deer come for a drink at the pond as well as a beaver busy at work! The cabin had lots of helpful supplies- especially the culligan drinking water! Very clean and quiet.

Peace and Location

Trappers Cabin was a peaceful way to unplug from the chaos of life. The privacy of the cabin and its quiet nature is a must for anyone who just loves to sit, watch, and listen--a great horned owl daily sat guard at the edge of the small lake on the property, and a young bull moose came to visit one morning. The cabin was also very conveniently located to both Montana's Glacier National Park and Waterton National Park of Canada. Great drives to both.

Hi, I am Cheryl Davidsen and was born and raised in this beautiful area. I am married to Eugene Davidsen and we have a family of five boys, two girls along with 10 grandkids.
I come from a long line of ancestors that settled this Mountain View/Waterton area and I am extremely blessed to have lived here almost all of my life. I am also a musician and song writer and have entertained many audiences in the area with my songs of heritage and legendary characters. If you ever need a few songs around the campfire at the cabin I would be glad to oblige - just give me a call.
