Available together or separately, historic Harbour Lights and the all-new Dockhouse studio include all the modern conveniences while retaining Hope Town charm. Check your stress at the door (or the dock!) and prepare to relax and enjoy.
After a day of island exploring, snorkeling and/or diving the world's 3rd largest barrier reef, fishing, beaching or simply relaxing, you will find Harbour Lights and The Dockhouse the perfect spots to sit back and unwind with family and friends.
Both Harbour Lights and the Dockhouse have beautiful views of the famous Hope Town lighthouse, the harbour and the settlement. Enjoy the stunning 360 degree panoramic view from the "sky deck" where you can see from the Atlantic Ocean to the Sea of Abaco and everything in between! Sit back, relax, enjoy the sunset and stargaze on both deck levels (Main House).
The spacious main house sleeps 6 comfortably in 2 bedrooms with king beds and 1 bedroom with two twin beds. Each floor of the main house has a full bath. The cozy Dockhouse sleeps 2 in a queen bed, has a full bath, and is available to rent with the main house or separately. The fully equipped kitchen in the main house includes microwave, dishwasher, coffeemaker and grinder, blender, UV-treated and filtered drinking water, full assortment of baking/cookware. The Dockhouse kitchenette has a small stove and refrigerator and cookware, coffeemaker and grinder, blender, and UV-treated and filtered drinking water.
Accessible only by boat, the property has its own private dock with 3.5 feet mean low water (MLW) and plenty of space for a large boat. If available (and it usually is), you may use our dinghy for trips across the harbour, but we strongly suggest renting a larger boat so you can get out into the Sea of Abaco and see the sights!
We are Bob and Kim Williams and live in Fairfax County in Virginia. Both graduates of Virginia Tech, Bob is an engineer and Kim is a preschool teacher. Our daughter is the latest Hokie in the family.
We have been visiting Abaco since 2002, have sailed extensively in the area, and decided it was a place we want to return to again and again. We fell in love with Harbour Lights when we first saw it in 2011 and decided to join the local community of Hope Town.
We have been working very hard to make Harbour Lights a comfortable, relaxing vacation home and hope you will love it as much as we do!
Kim and Bob Williams purchased this villa in 2013
When we thought about purchasing a home in Abaco, our goal was to find a comfortable home, close to the water but sheltered from the occasional hurricane. Being part of the Hope Town community was important and so was maintaining a feeling of privacy and tranquility. We wanted a house with rooms spacious enough to relax in, enough room to have a few friends join us, and island views that captivate. Because Harbour Lights needed work, we made extensive modifications to the house over the past two years making it one of the more distinctive homes in Hope Town.
The Dockhouse was a bonus. It is a complete home in itself, cozy enough for a honeymooning couple or for 2 additional guests if you already have 6 for the main house. Right on the water (the porch is 12 feet from the water at high tide!), it has a lovely porch that's perfect for enjoying your morning coffee and watching the harbour come to life.
We have wonderful on-sight caretakers who are there to help in an emergency or to answer questions about the houses.
We love that the house is only reachable by boat. It provides privacy, adds to the charm, and keeps us in tune with the happenings in the harbour. Need a gallon of milk? You get to drive across the harbour and enjoy the experience of island life as you should...from the water! A basic understanding of small boat handling is a must.
The spectacular decks on this house overlook beautiful Hope Town Harbour and the famous lighthouse. You can sit for hours watching the boats come and go, people running errands in their dinghies (not to mention the comings and goings of the super yachts!), and the tropical flowers and birds. With views that go all the way to the Atlantic, it never gets old. You can hear the church bells each day at noon and 6pm over the lapping of the water at the harbour's edge as well as the waves crashing on the Atlantic beach. Beaching is a 5 minute boat ride to town and a 1 block walk from the dinghy dock.
If you've had enough sun but still want to be outside, the covered porch is a wonderful place to have meals, or just sit and read in the porch swing. You can also sit on the dock in the early morning and look for turtles, dolphin, rays, lobster, fish, and the occasional nurse shark that visits Back Creek. Visibility is amazing in the harbour's crystal clear water.
We had a wonderful time. House is lovely and in a wonderful location! Dock access is perfect for boat.
This place is just perfect! We were 2 families (7 people) traveling together and we all had plenty of room. There are so many places to hang out. The two teen girls favorite spot was the second story deck over looking the harbor. They would take a pillow and a blanket out and talk for hours under the stars long after the adults were asleep. My husband and I stayed in the master bedroom and fell asleep looking out at the beautiful lights on the harbor and of course the old lighthouse beacon was the perfect night light! The house is perfectly accommodated for a fantastic stay. We cooked at home most of the time and the spice cupboard had what you needed, there were coolers to take food to the beach and everything you could need in the way of kitchen wear. The furnishings are clean and comfortable, linens and towels new and fresh. The kids had such a great time buzzing across the harbor in the dinghy for shopping and eating out. They even took it out the last night under the full moon for 4 slices of chocolate silk pie from Capt. Jacks- which we ate up on the sky deck waiting for shooting stars. Harbour View is situated beautifully in the Abaco's for easy exploring north or south to other islands. We rented a boat from Island Marine and wandered about from Great Guana to Little Harbor. We couldn't say enough great things about this place and would recommend it to anyone looking for a quiet, relaxing , home as the base camp to exploring the Abaco's. We hope to go back there again and again.

We had a really great stay in this house. Convenient to town by boat or dinghy, but not too close. It is set up very well and the caretakers are really great!
We celebrated a special birthday with a trip to a place we had never been. Wow, we can't say enough about the location and accomodations at Harbour House. It was the perfect place to start our island adventures! Private, yet near Hope Town restaurants, shops, grocery stores, museum, and church via the house dinghy. The residence is more than comfortable with a wonderful three tiered deck which looks out toward the harbour and the famous Hope Town lighthouse. At the top of the house is the sky deck which is a great place to star gaze. Just below is the upper deck which is just off the upsairs bedrooms. The lower deck is the best place to eat breakfast and lunch, also dinner if you choose to stay at home for the evening. This location was a great spot to begin our numerous adventures which included snorkeling, fishing, walking the Atlantic beach, shopping and visiting the nearby islands. We loved every minute of our stay in this delightful home away from home!
My family and I really enjoyed staying at Harbour Lights last November. We're still sorting through all of our pictures!
The house was great. From the master bedroom you can watch the lighthouse light as you fall asleep listening to the sound of the harbor and the ocean. Both the upstairs bedrooms open onto the big deck, so it is easy to go out and watch the stars if you wake up in the middle of the night. We found out in the morning (over breakfast on the porch) who had seen the most shooting stars! The kitchen had all we needed and the house was well equipped. My son-in-law forgot his swim fins, and we were able to borrow a pair from the house supply.
We liked being on the harbor and yet being in a private spot. The caretaker and his family were friendly and didn't intrude on our stay at all. We had no interruptions, no music or loud parties nearby, yet we could watch the activity on the harbor all we wanted. The short boat ride to town was fun. We saw lots of turtles on the way and even dolphin one morning. We did rent a boat so we could get out and see lots of other sights in the area and one day we went all the way up to the north end of Great Guana Cay and enjoyed the beautiful beach there.
I really liked feeding the fish from the dock and sitting on the Dock House porch in the shade with my coffee each morning. We can't wait to go back!
We just spent a wonderful week at Hope Town in this beautiful property. The house is perfectly situated in the Hope Town harbor, just a few minute boat ride across the calm harbor waters to “downtown” Hope Town where there are some great restaurants (with seafood caught that day!), boutique shops (great local hand made Bahamian fabrics) and everything else that you need for a great vacation.
The house itself looks nearly new with lots of deck space to hang out on, and an unusual “sky deck” which is about 30 feet off the ground and offers the most spectacular panoramic views of the entire harbor, Sea of Abaco, and glimpses of the Atlantic ocean. The rooms are beautifully decorated with a tropical feel (love all the bright color houses all throughout the area). The kitchen is well equipped and there is a BBQ and we ended up eating most meals at the house on the porch and watched beautiful sunsets from the deck. We spent most days either at one of the town beaches or taking a rental boat out and exploring the many different reefs and beaches that are only a short boat ride away. Some snorkeling gear is provided, but we brought our own since we like to snorkel and wanted to make sure we had gear that fit. The house is wonderfully private and the gardens are really beautiful. There is a caretaker on premise who clearly takes pride in keeping the gardens so beautiful. They were available whenever we had questions, but we hardly ever saw them. We chartered a fishing guide one day and were catching fish pretty much as soon as the hooks hit the water. Great for BBQing! We plan on coming back every year as long as the owners will have us!
Located adjacent to the 3rd largest barrier reef in the world, the Abacos have spectacular snorkeling, SCUBA diving, and deep sea and reef fishing that promise lots of action. They are also the home of breathtaking white sand beaches and the most incredibly beautiful blue water!
The settlement of Hope Town offers a coffee shop, gift shops, a small art gallery, 2 small grocery stores and a handful of very nice restaurants. After boating to town, walk the picturesque settlement and the long white sand beaches on both sides of the island. Grab a pina colada at one of the beach bars, take a swim in the surf, snorkel the reef immediately offshore, and see an incredible variety of tropical fish. Enjoy the slower pace of this gorgeous island!
We strongly recommend renting a boat (our little dinghy is only suitable for harbour use) so you can tour some of the other picturesque islands, visit their beaches, shops, and restaurants. Having a rental boat also allows you to visit some of the stunning coral reef "parks" which boast amazing varieties of tropical fish, rays, crabs, dolphin and more! There are several boat rental companies on the island; we have had great experiences with Jeff and Jenny Gale at Island Marine (islandmarine.com). A 20' or 23' Albury center console is perfect to explore the Abacos!
