718 Balboa Ct. In quiet S. Mission Beach Sleeps 4 (6 total w/LR sleeper couch)
About David Catalino
Grew up in New York State. Attended University of San Diego School of Law, fell in love with San Diego and have been here 35 years. This beach house started as a family venture with my mother and sister and we still take care of all details ourselves.
Why David Catalino chose Mission Beach
The property faces south and gets sun on the patio all day long. Sunsets are visable all year long from the beach as the sun sets to the west over the water. This beach in South Mission (Lifeguard Tower 10) is the longest and widest beach area in San Diego (South Mission Beach stretching north to Pacific Beach). There is surfing, body surfing, volleyball courts and room for any beach game you want to play. You can also find an area of sand all for yourself.
What makes this Townhome unique
Large patio to grill and enjoy the sun and your family. Mainly families with young children stay in this area of South Mission Beach which is quiet, but the action of Belmont Park and the roller coaster are only a short walk away. Other Attractions: Seaworld San Diego Zoo Balboa Park Midway Aircraft Carrier Museum Seaport Village Gaslamp Quarter Torrey Pines Golf Course Old Town San Diego Village of La Jolla Coronado Island Petco Park where the SD Padres play April to September (Note, presently Sea World, the Zoo, the Midway Museum, Torrey Pines Golf Course, Balboa Park, Petco Park and Old Town State Park are all closed until further notice.)

Great location and quiet retreat
We really enjoyed our stay at this property. I’ve been coming to mission beach for nine years and this is one of the best locations. It rained the whole time we were in town but we didn’t let that ruin the fun. Lots to do around this property including Belmont park, lots of great food, and of course the beach just two houses over. The host was very communicative and quick to respond any time we needed anything. I would certainly stay here again
We had a nice stay. Great to get to LaJolla, Coronado and
San Diego sights. Good for walking...
The property was comfortable and clean. Just hard to get used
to noise of airplanes....also, you really need a car to get to good
restaurants. We used uber and made out fine.
sunny beach escape
exactly as promised
A great trip!
We had a great time here. It was everything we expected given the listing. Use of beach towels and toys was a bonus. The owner was very responsive with any questions that we had. We would absolutely stay here again.
The location and size of the unit was good. The fact that neither bathrooms had a working fan was a problem. The resulting moisture created corrosion to the point that drawers did not work properly and mold was able to grow in areas that never dried out. Opening the windows, as was instructed by owner was not practical for the ladies in our party because there were no window coverings in the bathrooms, and leaving the windows open when we departed left the unit susceptible to an easy break-in. The location was great and it did quiet down after the planes stopped flying, but I cannot say we slept well. You either ran the noisy furnace or slept with clothes on so that you weren't too cold. Also, the fact that the gas stove exhausted into the unit and was not exhausted externally was a concern. Perhaps CO1 detectors should be installed. A reasonable price in an excellent location, but bathroom fans became a staple in the 50's. I think it isn't too much to expect them today. Certainly not a 5 star as indicated by almost all other guests. Maybe I'm unreasonable, but I would say 3 stars with potential. Needs more bedding, some dish clothes, a kettle to boil water, and a taller ladder to reach the dishes. Perhaps some soap and shampoo to really put it over the top. With a few improvements it could be a super spot.
