Ask a questionAbout Wendy Ney Manley
We own a hand full of vacation rentals and we pick our properties based on whether we would enjoy vacationing in a certain region and if the house would create a meaningful, attractive and memorable backdrop for friends and family to gather. We try to create an environment that offers more personality, comfort and coziness than a sterile hotel room or a home that is void of any warmth or a homey feel. When we vacation we want to do so in a carefree environment that is neat, clean, updated, welcoming and relaxing. My husband jokes that some day he would like to actually use the homes we work so hard to maintain and update, but our family is spread out across the country and very active so between family time and work our free time is not our own. Retirement can't get here soon enough! My husband is from the Buffalo area and commutes to his Houston, TX office on a regular basis. I grew up in the Philadelphia area, although college, grad school and my early career took me to various places across the country. Both my husband and I met in the Philadelphia region, raised our children there and love our 250 year old farmhouse in Pottstown, Chester County, which is where we hang our hats when we are not on the road. Welcome to Casa Comfort La Maison - our home away from home!
Wendy Ney Manley purchased this house in 2003
Why Wendy Ney Manley chose Pocono Pines
When I was between jobs and our children were very young, my mother convinced us to get away for a few days and suggested the Poconos. 'The Poconos???!!!' I said...immediately heart shaped beds, champagne glass hot tubs and all that is tacky is what came to mind! Lake Naomi could not be further from that vision! We stayed with friends in Lake Naomi and quickly became hooked! We are avid tennis players and when we saw the facilities we were hooked! Courts are super well maintained, a separate clubhouse and pro shop, high level competition, not to mention the gorgeous lake and pools - we loved our time there! We own places at and on the beach and this is the place we relax the best, year round! You can choose to be solitary or find a pick-up game if one feels like venturing out, find a desolate beach with idyllic views of the lake or eat with friends poolside or lakeside and have a delightful and satisfying culinary experience. We fell in love with Relaxation 101 when we pulled up to the house! Steps from the Lake Naomi pool, we were instantaneously struck with the open floor plan and the two story stone fireplace as soon as we opened the front door! We loved the fact that if you are in the kitchen you are still a part of what may be unfolding elsewhere, enjoying a roaring fire or just hanging out after dinner either sitting around the large DR table or outside on the screened in porch. When we need to get away, this is where we come, year round and so close to home! Rarely is traffic an issue and if we want to shop the outlets, eat at a fine dining establishment, walk the boutiques at Kalahari (my kids are bummed it wasn't built sooner!) ski or check out Camel Beach, Jack Frost or Big Boulder or even venture north to Elk, the opportunity is there!
What makes this house unique
In 2016 we renovated the kitchen, the two baths, and replaced all the flooring on the first floor with an engineered laminate that really opened up the space. and holds up quite well to typical wear and tear and significant foot traffic The bathrooms are so much more luxurious and kitchen is so much more functional. Don't forget to check out the foosball table - a favorite hangout for my kids, and likely yours too! We love the stone fireplace that runs two floors, the open space floor plan, the screened porch, the brightness of the house even though we are in the woods, the wonderful cross breezes and the single car garage which provides protection when the weather is not cooperating. We added a portable air conditioner to the first floor in 2016, and a second one to the loft in 2018, although the canopy of trees and cross breezes when the windows are open make the house very comfortable in the warmer months. The units are most appreciated on the super humid days. Again, we have tried to decorate in a manner that is comfortable, tasteful and inviting and based on our guest book, our guests overwhelmingly agree. We hope you do too!
