Step back into time when life was slower at this quaint cabin located in the shadow of Mount Lassen. Enjoy the short 1/4 mile walk to view Lake Almanor, one of Northern California's true gems. On your return from the lake stop by Carol's Cafe for a slice of true Americana fare. Pick up one of Carol's famous pies to enjoy while relaxing on the front porch as you rock your cares away. In the evening sip a cold beverage on the large back porch while enjoying Lassen National Forest and the wildlife that abounds there.

Why Claire chose Prattville
This property is near and dear to our hearts. Lake Almanor has been a mainstay in my family for 40+ years. When my husband and I had the chance to purchase a lot in the historic development of Prattville we were ecstatic. In 2001 we purchased the lot and a year later my husband built us our "little cabin in the woods". We have made many memories with family and friends over the years here and are looking to make many more in years to come. Our wish is for others to have the same opportunity by staying here. Enjoy!
What makes this Cabin unique
Large off street parking. Our cabin backs up to forest thus offering a great view of nature and provides some privacy.

Excellent family getaway!
Excellent location for both lake and Lassen Volcanic National Park activities. The home was very cozy with everything that a person could ask for. My family was very relaxed after a long day of hiking at Lassen. The cabin is a short few minutes drive from any needs in town that you may require, or a short walk to the cafe, I recommend a slice of pie. The cabin was large enough for most needs yet cozy enough to feel right at home. I would definitely recommend this lovely home to any traveler who wants a clean, cozy and comfortable home.
We are thrilled that your family had such an enjoyable stay. Thank you for your glowing review and keep us in mind for your next trip up this way.
Perfect Cabin in the Woods
We spent 8 nights at this wonderful cabin in the woods. It was just the right size for our family of four adults, although the cabin does sleep six. The cabin is well stocked with everything you need, although you might want to bring beach/camping chairs for sitting out in the sun. The back area has a great, shaded deck that faces the forest. The back area has plenty of room to set up bean bag games or lounge chairs. The location is quiet, yet walking distant to two restaurants and a bar (one very close, the other .8 mile away). We can't wait to go back for a longer stay. One caveat if you are the kind of person who can't disconnect from technology...there is internet service, but it is very slow to connect and sometimes doesn't connect at all for a while. If this is the kind of thing that wrecks your vacation be prepared. But you don't come to the mountains and lakes to sit on your phone or tablet, right? The things I personally appreciated the most were the signs by the doors that warned you to keep the doors closed at all times because of bat season. I love the mountains, but I am very afraid of bats and the signs made me confident that the owner cabin took extra care to ensure her place was critter-free. Thank you, Claire, for sharing your beautiful peace of paradise! (If you ever want to sell it, just let me know!)
Cute, clean, comfortable cabin.
We absolutely loved staying here! The view of the woods outside is so peaceful, with the fragrance of the conifers in the air. Close to town without being in town, we were happy to discover a great market and lots of shops.
The owner Claire is very pleasant and the house reflects her pride of ownership. A real gem!
Lovely, Quiet Cabin
My family with two small children had a wonderful time; we hope to come back again soon!
So happy to hear you and your family had an enjoyable time at our cabin. Looking forward to having you back in the future.
Great Getaway Cabin
My sisters and I stayed here on our annual sisters trip. Upon arrival, we found Claire had left us wine glasses and permanent markers to decorate them with. That was a nice touch! Everything was provided--all we needed to do was bring food. The cabin is clean and cozy and were I to visit the area again I would definitely stay in her cabin. Thanks so much, Patty C.
From our conversations crafts, laughs and memories were had by all. So happy you enjoyed your sister time at our place.
Wonderful "Little Cabin."
Already missing the peaceful mornings on the back porch listening to the quiet and watching scurrying chipmunks and cautious deer. We rented this cabin to be near family camping with their trailer and boat at Rocky Point. When they saw "our" cabin, they talked about leaving their trailer at home and staying here next time. The glowing reviews are spot-on. Internet and mobile phones worked fine, by the way. Lunch at Carol's, and dinner at twilight on the deck at Plumas Pines Resort are a must. Wish our stay was longer so we could spend more time enjoying the cabin. If I could design my perfect cabin in the woods, this would be it.
Thank you! When your back up this way you can make this " your" cabin again. We would love to have you back.
