Step back into time when life was slower at this quaint cabin located in the shadow of Mount Lassen. Enjoy the short 1/4 mile walk to view Lake Almanor, one of Northern California's true gems. On your return from the lake stop by Carol's Cafe for a slice of true Americana fare. Pick up one of Carol's famous pies to enjoy while relaxing on the front porch as you rock your cares away. In the evening sip a cold beverage on the large back porch while enjoying Lassen National Forest and the wildlife that abounds there.

Why Claire chose Prattville
This property is near and dear to our hearts. Lake Almanor has been a mainstay in my family for 40+ years. When my husband and I had the chance to purchase a lot in the historic development of Prattville we were ecstatic. In 2001 we purchased the lot and a year later my husband built us our "little cabin in the woods". We have made many memories with family and friends over the years here and are looking to make many more in years to come. Our wish is for others to have the same opportunity by staying here. Enjoy!
What makes this Cabin unique
Large off street parking. Our cabin backs up to forest thus offering a great view of nature and provides some privacy.

Lovely house in a quiet area. Beautifully presented and very well equipped. We found it very easy to get to Lassen and enjoyed quiet days by the lake swimming and walking. Seeing wildlife walking past the house while we had breakfast was a big bonus for our young children. We enjoyed playing board games and spending time as a family.
Just to note the nearest supermarket is in Chester a 15-20 minute drive away, so bring supplies.
Great Place to Stay
We love your Little Cabin in the Woods. It was well stocked; it contained everything we needed. It was very clean and very comfortable. We had a lot of fun, and the kids and I especially enjoyed playing your Dog-opoly game!
Perfect Cabin in the Woods
We spent 8 nights at this wonderful cabin in the woods. It was just the right size for our family of four adults, although the cabin does sleep six. The cabin is well stocked with everything you need, although you might want to bring beach/camping chairs for sitting out in the sun. The back area has a great, shaded deck that faces the forest. The back area has plenty of room to set up bean bag games or lounge chairs. The location is quiet, yet walking distant to two restaurants and a bar (one very close, the other .8 mile away). We can't wait to go back for a longer stay. One caveat if you are the kind of person who can't disconnect from technology...there is internet service, but it is very slow to connect and sometimes doesn't connect at all for a while. If this is the kind of thing that wrecks your vacation be prepared. But you don't come to the mountains and lakes to sit on your phone or tablet, right? The things I personally appreciated the most were the signs by the doors that warned you to keep the doors closed at all times because of bat season. I love the mountains, but I am very afraid of bats and the signs made me confident that the owner cabin took extra care to ensure her place was critter-free. Thank you, Claire, for sharing your beautiful peace of paradise! (If you ever want to sell it, just let me know!)
Thank you for the lovely review. Glad you enjoyed our place as much as we do, it is special. Sadly our communications infrastructure is lacking in the area making cell and Internet spotty at times, especially when there are a lot of people in the area. But as you point out it helps one to disconnect and enjoy nature. Great way to get the young people to put their devices down! As for those bats....
Great sta! Will definitely go back.
Owner is ver responsive. Close to everything and quiet. Both nearby restaurant are good. Great house with two good sized upstairs BRs and bath and master and bath downstairs. Nice deck and well appointed kitchen. I would suggest you bring extra paper products as the host supply is limited.
Glad you enjoyed your stay. We are very fortunate to have 2 restaurants within walking distance. Look forward to your return visit.
Cute, clean, comfortable cabin.
We absolutely loved staying here! The view of the woods outside is so peaceful, with the fragrance of the conifers in the air. Close to town without being in town, we were happy to discover a great market and lots of shops.
The owner Claire is very pleasant and the house reflects her pride of ownership. A real gem!

My family with two small children had a wonderful time; we hope to come back again soon!
