Welcome to the " Mad Dog Fin and Feather" located in picturesque Copano Bay. My home offers some of the best fishing and bird watching on the Texas Gulf Coast. Combine this with the awesome sunsets and smell of the fresh salt air and you will never want to leave. This spacious home has three living quarters. There is an upstairs (third floor) "Captains Quarters" with private En Suite including a Jacuzzi Tub,Shower and extra large closet with its own balcony overlooking the bay. The second floor includes two bedrooms, each with its own En Suite, a large fully furnished kitchen and dining area, a great room and a game room with pool table. The downstairs living area includes a small bedroom with its own En Suite bath area. The remainder of the downstairs includes a washroom and 2 car garage and workshop with ample parking outside..
My home has a lighted fishing pier and two boat docks. Catching the "Texas Grand Slam" a Flounder, a Speckled Trout and a Red Fish from this pier is not uncommon. I have fished all around the Texas Gulf Coast and this is absolutely the best fishing pier that I have ever fished. There is a BBQ pit waterside with a couple of rod holders to fish the channel for Reds while you smell the Brisket and drink some Texas Tea while listening to your favorite beach tunes.
Yes my house has a Satellite TV and I also have WiFi---- however I suggest turning off the TV and Computer. Put away those cell phones and learn to relax and listen to the sounds of nature with each sunrise and sunset.
I am a "Native Texan" I have been fishing the Texas Gulf Coast since I was old enough to walk and my first memory of fishing was on the Rockport Jetty in 1958 at the age of five.
Mike Deodati purchased this house in 2015
I have fished in the Amazon for Peacock Bass, the Mexico Coast for Dolphin, the Alaska streams for Salmon the Argentina rivers for Dorado, Canada for Northern Pike and Walleye and the Texas lakes for Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass,White Bass, Crappie and Catfish. However, there is nothing like the Texas Gulf Coast anywhere in the world. And I can honestly say that I have never had more fun fishing anywhere than from my pier on the MD Fin and Feather.
When I was 18 I remember my parents going fishing in Copano Bay from a pier located at Rattlesnake Point. My dad said that this was his favorite place to fish and I can remember mom and dad telling stories about all the fish they caught from this pier.
This very same pier was on the property adjacent and across the channel from the MD Fin and Feather and was blown away in one of they many hurricanes some 20 plus years earlier.
When I saw house for sale and the location--I could not resist.
Plenty of space to spread out. Nice neighbors. Very dog friendly. Great fishing!
Our family loved this house. Plenty of room for everyone to have their own space and beautiful views from the decks. My husband and sons had good results fishing, even without live bait. Comfy beds and a well stocked kitchen. I did recommend to the owner that they replace some of the cookware, so keep in mind if you intend to do a lot of cooking that you may want to bring your favorite skillet along. We loved this place and will definitely return, hopefully in the spring. Great value for the money as well when comparing other properties.
We enjoyed a very relaxing long weekend to celebrate a 65th birthday. There were 4 couples and we had plenty of room and really enjoyed the deck and the view. We will do this again. The house was great. No complaints and Mike was very easy to work with.
Enjoyed the property, was exactly as described, all clean and in working order, owner was obliging in allowing us to checkin an hour early, would recommend the property. Due to change in weather barometer, fishing off the pier was a disappointment, guess that's why they call it fishing, rather than catching!
I have taken my kids to Port Aransas for summer vacations all their lives, and loved it. But the prices kept going up, and I was looking for something new, something more laid back...and this home and location was spot on! Beautiful yard surrounding the property leading to the bulkhead waterfront with the bay. Fantastic lighted pier so you can fish any time without worrying about strangers if you are by yourself. Lovely home with everything you need. Easy access to Rockport beach and stores for kids to drive to. Port Aransas just a conversation away. Fishing was great! My family is catch and release, so we enjoyed all the fish we caught every morning, afternoon, and night. Lovely kitchen--bring your spices with you to guarantee you have your secret ingredients. Cannot beat the views from the balconies. I hope I have a place like this one day to call my own!! So much more bang for the buck than Port Aransas for the size and location. Win, win, win!!!
Owner easy to reach, quick to respond to questions, friendly and helpful. Bait shops at marina easy to get to, right by the beach. Found a good coffee shop--the Daily Grind, everybody knows everybody, like Cheers but with coffee!
You cannot miss with this! It is 15 minutes away from the hustle and bustle of the city, and a pretty drive between house and town. This is my new yearly vacation destination! I will book early!!
This was our second stay at MAD DOGS FIN AND FEATHER - a terrific home. SPACIOUS and CONVENIENT are the 2 operative words. Rockport is easy access with plenty to do, see and EAT. SUNSETS from the decks were lovely. Private and quiet area.
Mike D. keeps this home CLEAN and WELL EQUIPED. There was nothing we needed that was not there - helped us to enjoy our stay.
Bring your fishing pole - trout were biting after 10:00pm for 2 hours off the pier. We kayaked around the area with ease.
If you want a fishing trip - we used CAPT. LARRY ROBINSON - (www.shallow-water.com) - caught fish all morning ..... starting with 1st cast, before sun up.... he worked well with our 12 year old. Did our 1st NIGHT TIME FLOUNDER GIGGING with CAPT. CHAD Verburgt - (www.rockportfloundergigging.com) - again, was great with our 12 yo and was a ton of fun ... "and not in the SUN"---- and did not have to get our feet wet....all was done from the boat.
We will look forward to our next visit.
