Overview

About the property

Exceptional Waterfront Home-- 4 Bedroom 4 Bath with gameroom

Welcome to the " Mad Dog Fin and Feather" located in picturesque Copano Bay. My home offers some of the best fishing and bird watching on the Texas Gulf Coast. Combine this with the awesome sunsets and smell of the fresh salt air and you will never want to leave. This spacious home has three living quarters. There is an upstairs (third floor) "Captains Quarters" with private En Suite including a Jacuzzi Tub,Shower and extra large closet with its own balcony overlooking the bay. The second floor includes two bedrooms, each with its own En Suite, a large fully furnished kitchen and dining area, a great room and a game room with pool table. The downstairs living area includes a small bedroom with its own En Suite bath area. The remainder of the downstairs includes a washroom and 2 car garage and workshop with ample parking outside..

My home has a lighted fishing pier and two boat docks. Catching the "Texas Grand Slam" a Flounder, a Speckled Trout and a Red Fish from this pier is not uncommon. I have fished all around the Texas Gulf Coast and this is absolutely the best fishing pier that I have ever fished. There is a BBQ pit waterside with a couple of rod holders to fish the channel for Reds while you smell the Brisket and drink some Texas Tea while listening to your favorite beach tunes.

Yes my house has a Satellite TV and I also have WiFi---- however I suggest turning off the TV and Computer. Put away those cell phones and learn to relax and listen to the sounds of nature with each sunrise and sunset.

About Mike Deodati

I am a "Native Texan" I have been fishing the Texas Gulf Coast since I was old enough to walk and my first memory of fishing was on the Rockport Jetty in 1958 at the age of five.

Mike Deodati purchased this house in 2015

Why Mike Deodati chose Gulf Coast

I have fished in the Amazon for Peacock Bass, the Mexico Coast for Dolphin, the Alaska streams for Salmon the Argentina rivers for Dorado, Canada for Northern Pike and Walleye and the Texas lakes for Largemouth and Smallmouth Bass,White Bass, Crappie and Catfish. However, there is nothing like the Texas Gulf Coast anywhere in the world. And I can honestly say that I have never had more fun fishing anywhere than from my pier on the MD Fin and Feather.

What makes this house unique

When I was 18 I remember my parents fishing in Copano Bay from a pier located at Rattlesnake Point. My dad said that this was his favorite place to fish and I can remember mom and dad telling stories about all the fish they caught from this pier.

This very same pier was on the property adjacent and across the channel from the MD Fin and Feather and was blown away in one of the many hurricanes some 20 plus years earlier.

When I saw house for sale and the location--I could not resist.

Best fishing pier ever!!

  • 5 of 5

We go fishing a lot and we caught more fish off of this pier in three nights than we have ever caught! House was roomy and beds were comfortable. We had two adults and 6 teenagers...plenty of room for all of us. If you are looking for high-end furnishings, this isn't the place for you. If you are looking for a spacious, comfortable home, where you will have plenty of room to cook great meals, play cards, laugh and make great memories and have the absolute best view of Copano Bay, then this is the place for you! We loved our stay in Rockport and will definitely stay at Mike's home again!!

Great spot for fishing and breathtaking sunsets!

  • 5 of 5

We had 6 adults and 1 baby in our group. The roominess of the house was perfect for our group. We never felt like we were on top of each other or in each other's way. The position of the house (on a point with the channel on one side and Copano Bay at the end of the pier) allowed us to fish for bait (perch and yellow tail, finger mullet in a cast net) in the channel in the morning and use the bait to catch trout and red fish in the bay at night.

The house itself could use some updates due to obvious wear and tear over time, but it's not anything that would keep us from coming back. The bathrooms and bedding all seemed clean. The floors need to be mopped better by house cleaning. It was not initially noticeable, but after being there about 30 minutes to an hour our feet were filthy and the babies knees and tops of his feet were filthy from crawling on the wood floors on the main level. Again, it wasn't something that would keep us from coming back.

We definitely plan to return! We had a great time!

Great Place to Relax

  • 4 of 5

My family and I were really anticipating our visit to this property after we booked it a couple months ago. The amenities sounded good and the the rooms looked great. The addition of the dock and a pool table sold the property in our eyes. We found the property easy enough as we have stayed in this area of Rockport on a couple other occasions.

It's kind of odd to t walk into the lower area and then walk up a flight of narrow stairs to the main lining area, but it is worth it. The first thing they greeted us (especially me and my kids) was the pool table. To us, that said "welcome". To the left of this room was the kitchen and mai living area. Talk about space! We have stayed at places where there has been just a little room, but the wise open area really wowed us. The kitchen was well stocked with what we needed for our cooking needs. There was plenty of counter space and the table could seat six. A beautiful bay window offered a great dining view. A similar bay window in the living area also featured the same beautiful view of the bay. The extremely high ceilings have the living room a "grand" feeling.

The bedrooms were all rather spacious . . .especially the master bedroom (which was located on the third floor. There was a large walk in closet if needed, and the master bath featured double sinks and whirlpool bath with separate shower stall. Very nice accommodations. Two of the other bedrooms were located on the main level and each had their own bathroom, which was great for all our family members. I didn't really check the bedroom on the entrance level. This one looked like it was created out of available space after the house was built.

The grounds around the back, bayside of the house were beautiful. The grass was thick and you could literally fish just steps from the house. I caught fish right from there. Mainly small stuff, but that was fine with me. I'm a catch and release person. The dock they offer with the property suited our needs great. My kids and I enjoyed our nights out there. We hooked plenty of fish and enjoyed a couple nice sunsets. Even saw a dolphin nearby just doing its dolphin thing.

One thing that could improve the experience and make it a 5 star would be for the old big sceeen tv in the living area to be replaced with a modern flat screen. Pool table was a bit of a tight fit, but it was greatly enjoyed.

We all agreed this is definitely a place we would return to

Very relaxing vacation

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week at the house and it was truly amazing. The house was nice and clean, plenty of room, and well stocked. The beds were super comfy and there was plenty of hot water all the time. We had 6 adults and 2 kiddos, so it was very nice for everyone to have their own room and bathroom. The owner was very accommodating and responded quickly to questions, etc. The bay is beautiful, especially at sunrise and sunset, and the fishing was great. Caught a lot of trout off the pier and saw dolphins swimming in the bay. We would definitely recommend staying here and hope we get to come back and stay again.
