About Heather Douglas

We have lived in this little coastal town for 13 years now and are excited at the opportunity to share it with others. I am a nurse at our small community hospital and my husband is a wildlife biologist. We have 2 kids and a dog (Kona) who we named our cabin after. Our family enjoys exploring the coast, hiking, biking, as well as attending many of our unique community events. The world's largest salmon barbecue in July and the Ugly dog contest during Labor Day weekend are some of our favorites.

Heather Douglas purchased this cabin in 2014

Why Heather Douglas chose North Coast

We fell in love with this property because of the close proximity to town, but "in the middle of nowhere" feel it has. It is set at the end of the road and feels like you are in a forest. It has the feel of a campground but offers the comforts of home just inside the door. Our kids have loved exploring the property and beyond in Jackson Demonstration State Park since we purchased it. In the fall we collected baskets of wild mushrooms and in the spring discovered wildflowers popping up everywhere.

Great spot for a family weekend getaway.

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our time here in this lovely Redwood Grove. The house is nice and as advertised. If anything, the pictures don't give you the full sense of how out-of-the-way this is, nestled in the forest. That being said, it's only maybe a five minute drive into town, super convenient. Everything was thoughtfully prepared, clean and in good working order.

Woodsy, quiet, quaint

  • 5 of 5

Heather was very accommodating and added an extra night at the last minute. The cabin was well stocked, comfortable and was a great place for our two dogs. Just behind the property are old logging roads we hiked all over. Wild flowers, water falls, you name it. We were also close to the beach and Fort Bragg.

Lovely peace and comfort.

  • 5 of 5

This little cabin had high end touches to include soft sheets and towels, even nice toilet paper. The house was clean and well stocked. Only thing missing was a vegetable peeler. Our dog enjoyed his stay too as toys for him as well as a first aid kit were included. We found easy access to town, state parks and wineries. A lovely five days.

Owner's Response: We are thrilled that you enjoyed your stay at the cabin! I appreciate you letting us know about the vegetable peeler. I'm sure we had one, but things sometimes disappear, so I'm gland to know so that we can replace it. We hope you will be back to visit again!

Dream Vacation

  • 5 of 5

When I planned our vacation I was looking for something similar to our vacation in Tofino, on Vancouver Island, which was a mixture of Rainforest, Beach and Stormy weather. Since we would be traveling with our dogs, Kona and Gunner, I knew finding accommodations would be tricky...and then I stumbled across the Kona Cabin.

Our stay was everything we had hoped for...it truly was a dream vacation. The Cabin was clean, warm and comfortable...plus it had all the amenities we needed to make our 4 night stay one of our best vacations yet. One of my favorite things about the cabin was the location...it was secluded but yet you could still hear the ocean at night. It had trails near by and the whimsical decorations around the cabin made it feel so peaceful...we almost didn't want to leave. Kona and Gunner had a wonderful time exploring the property but the really enjoyed the birds and grey squirrel running around. The pictures give an accurate representation of what the cabin looks like.

Heather, Robert and Kona put so much thought into the set up of the cabin. The decorations were rustic but modern and it had all the amenities of home. Then there were the simple thoughtful touches of having extra towels for the dogs or the bottle of wine and fruit when we arrived that made us feel like we were staying with friends instead of renting from some stranger. Thank you for opening your home to us. We cant wait to come back.
