The cabin was great! It had everything you could possibly need! We had a great time exploring the area and looking for banana slugs on our morning walks. It was very cozy and a comfortable space. We loved it!
Quiet seclusion nestled in amongst the redwoods. Close to town but far enough away to not even know it's there. There was never a sound of traffic night or day. It's very clean and is quite spacious for a small cabin. There was ample space for my wife to maneuver with her walker. There was never a need to contact or host Heather since everything was totally taken care of prior to our visit. We've stayed at numerous lodgings in Fort Bragg over many years and we are happy to have found one that we truly want to come back to.And a plus for me was Gravel Pit Rd. close by where I could ride my gravel bike. It's beautiful for hiking also with a babbling stream in the Redwoods. Will definitely return!!
Absolutely a gem. The property is beautiful and the cabin, looks rustic until you get inside and are treated to a very nicely appointed interior. Comfortable furniture, a lovely pellet stove for heat and mini-splits for heat and air. The kitchen is tiny but completely usable. The property backs up to beautiful forest, with direct access to trails. The pup insisted on walks every morning even when raining. The location feels safe and secure being through several other properties to get to it, yet very private and quiet. This property and the surrounding Fort Bragg was the highlight to our trip. Thank you.
Very peaceful cabin in the redwoods. We appreciated the working kitchen to enjoy meals in the cabin as well as morning coffees in the quiet of the woods. It was nice to stay away from the crowds in Fort Bragg and still be close enough to access Mendocino Woods and Big River recreation areas.
Our stay was absolutely amazing! The home had everything we could possibly need for a relaxing weekend. It's tucked away nicely and offers a private and relaxing experience. Check in and check out we're extremely easy. We will be back again!
Perfect for a romantic getaway. Thoughtful touches throughout. We immediately felt at home in this woodsy paradise, where we could walk to the back of the property to a fire road leading to a trail through the forest.
The fire pit was great to snuggle in front of while star gazing. The cabin is only 2 miles away from the beaches, but far enough inland to escape the fog.
Excellent location for enjoying both forests and beaches.
We loved everything about the Kona Cabin and would love to come back!
The property is very pretty tucked in the redwoods. We did not use the firepit due to weather but it was a great space. The house was clean with a cute book for everyone to write their trips in. The owners take well care of the property
We had a delightful stay at Kona cabin. Beautiful location, private, sufficiently stocked kitchen and bath. Close to town and the beaches. Dog friendly was a real plus.
Our fourth time staying at KonaCabin. It was wonderful as always. Already have next years reservations. Weather as great and property is perfect for us and our golden retriever.
My husband and I wanted a weekend get away for our anniversary. Somewhere quiet and secluded. The Kona cabin was perfect and everything we were looking for. And it was close to activities and restaurants.

About the host
Hosted by Heather Douglas
We have lived in this little coastal town for 18 years now and are excited at the opportunity to share it with others. I am a nurse at our small community hospital and my husband is a wildlife biologist. We have 2 kids and a dog (Kona) who we named our cabin after. Our family enjoys exploring the coast, hiking, biking, as well as attending many of our unique community events. The world's largest salmon barbecue in July and the Ugly dog contest during Labor Day weekend are some of our favorites.
Why they chose this property
We fell in love with this property because of the close proximity to town, but "in the middle of nowhere" feel it has. It is set at the end of the road and feels like you are in a forest. It has the feel of a campground but offers the comforts of home just inside the door. Our kids have loved exploring the property and beyond in Jackson Demonstration State Park since we purchased it. In the fall we collected baskets of wild mushrooms and in the spring discovered wildflowers popping up everywhere.
What makes this property unique
Walk or bike right from the property into Jackson State Demonstration Forest to experience miles of trails.
