About Heather Douglas
We have lived in this little coastal town for 13 years now and are excited at the opportunity to share it with others. I am a nurse at our small community hospital and my husband is a wildlife biologist. We have 2 kids and a dog (Kona) who we named our cabin after. Our family enjoys exploring the coast, hiking, biking, as well as attending many of our unique community events. The world's largest salmon barbecue in July and the Ugly dog contest during Labor Day weekend are some of our favorites.
Heather Douglas purchased this Cabin in 2014
Why Heather Douglas chose Fort Bragg
We fell in love with this property because of the close proximity to town, but "in the middle of nowhere" feel it has. It is set at the end of the road and feels like you are in a forest. It has the feel of a campground but offers the comforts of home just inside the door. Our kids have loved exploring the property and beyond in Jackson Demonstration State Park since we purchased it. In the fall we collected baskets of wild mushrooms and in the spring discovered wildflowers popping up everywhere.

Perfect in Every Way
The owners of this vacation rental have thought of everything to make your stay in Fort Bragg comfortable. The cabin is spacious, clean, and beautifully situated amongst a grove of trees. Peace, quiet, privacy, and the sense that you are away from it all, yet Fort Bragg is just a few minutes away, so whatever you need, you have access to it. The kitchen has all the utensils and appliances you could ask for. We had the most amazing time here and hope to return in the near future. You really couldn't ask for more.
Beautiful cabin & location
Absolutely lovely! Every amenity and just perfect! Can’t wait to stay here again and again!
Charmed for the Third Time
This was our 3rd stay at Kona Cabin in the Redwoods. Obviously we love it. It is comfortable inside and just the right size for the 3 of us. Outside is lovely. Love walking in the Jackson Demonstration National Forest just steps away from the front door. We will never get tired of MacKerricher State Park, Noyo Headlands, or Glass Beach. Check out North Coast Brewing Co. Taproom & Grill, and the new Overtime Brewery. Ask for "Will" at either place to be your server. Lots of other things to see and do and good places to eat. We love Fort Bragg and can't wait to go back.
Great time and amazing little cabin in the woods!
My family and I had an amazing stay in the cabin. Our German Shepherd felt very welcomed and had a great time playing with our 15 month old baby boy outside. The distance to all the local spots made it perfect for trips out while we could enjoy being alone in the woods. We are looking forward to our next stay here already!
Quiet and well kept facility.
What a beautiful spot! Very quiet back in the woods and the accommodations are above
expectation. I might add...everything was very clean. And we had sunshine everyday.
Peace and relaxation
Kona cabin is tucked away in a redwood grove. It is so quiet and peaceful. Our dogs loved checking out who and what had been in the area. The cabin is immaculate and very comfortable. The kitchen is compact and efficient, the only drawback is lack of an exhaust fan if you really want to do some cooking. Looking for a spot to unwind....this is for you!!
Visit the new coastal walking trail at Glass beach with awesome views of the rocky coastline or explore the beach for treasures discarded years ago now transformed into beautiful sea glass. Learn about the history of the prior logging town which used what is now Glass Beach as the town dump. For more history you can ride the historic Skunk Train which makes trips inland among the redwoods and back. A short drive to Anderson Valley offers a friendly wine tasting region with award winning boutique wineries that specialize in pinot noir and Gewürztraminer.
