About Heather Douglas
We have lived in this little coastal town for 13 years now and are excited at the opportunity to share it with others. I am a nurse at our small community hospital and my husband is a wildlife biologist. We have 2 kids and a dog (Kona) who we named our cabin after. Our family enjoys exploring the coast, hiking, biking, as well as attending many of our unique community events. The world's largest salmon barbecue in July and the Ugly dog contest during Labor Day weekend are some of our favorites.
Heather Douglas purchased this Cabin in 2014
Why Heather Douglas chose Fort Bragg
We fell in love with this property because of the close proximity to town, but "in the middle of nowhere" feel it has. It is set at the end of the road and feels like you are in a forest. It has the feel of a campground but offers the comforts of home just inside the door. Our kids have loved exploring the property and beyond in Jackson Demonstration State Park since we purchased it. In the fall we collected baskets of wild mushrooms and in the spring discovered wildflowers popping up everywhere.

Great time and amazing little cabin in the woods!
My family and I had an amazing stay in the cabin. Our German Shepherd felt very welcomed and had a great time playing with our 15 month old baby boy outside. The distance to all the local spots made it perfect for trips out while we could enjoy being alone in the woods. We are looking forward to our next stay here already!
Quiet and well kept facility.
What a beautiful spot! Very quiet back in the woods and the accommodations are above
expectation. I might add...everything was very clean. And we had sunshine everyday.
The Kona Cabin is first rate.
Every detail you need for a vacation rental is afforded you. Heather and Robert are most excellent hosts who have thought of everything. Wonderful kitchen completely stocked, comfortable furniture, great heating unit, motion detector lighting indoors and out, many soft comfy blankets abound, fabulous shower, great bed and bedding. We loved it all but have to say our very favorite was the availablity of "Dog Survival Kit" which was more than appreciated by our 16 year old boy, Trouble. It's quiet and serene and just a short distance from town. WE highly recommend it, and will most assuredly be returning.
Peace and relaxation
Kona cabin is tucked away in a redwood grove. It is so quiet and peaceful. Our dogs loved checking out who and what had been in the area. The cabin is immaculate and very comfortable. The kitchen is compact and efficient, the only drawback is lack of an exhaust fan if you really want to do some cooking. Looking for a spot to unwind....this is for you!!
The property is amazing
We love this place. Kona cottage is nestled in the Redwoods but only a short drive to the beach. This is our third time visiting and will return again. The cottage is clean and comfortable and very dog friendly. Out two dogs love relaxing on the porch or under the trees.
I definitely recommend Kona cottage.
We loved our stay at the Kona Cabin.
What’s not to love? The hosts have thought of everything. It felt like home. We had a wonderful weekend in Ft. Bragg exploring the beaches and watching for whales. During the rain the cabin was extra cozy. We are looking forward our next stay at The Kona Cabin.
Visit the new coastal walking trail at Glass beach with awesome views of the rocky coastline or explore the beach for treasures discarded years ago now transformed into beautiful sea glass. Learn about the history of the prior logging town which used what is now Glass Beach as the town dump. For more history you can ride the historic Skunk Train which makes trips inland among the redwoods and back. A short drive to Anderson Valley offers a friendly wine tasting region with award winning boutique wineries that specialize in pinot noir and Gewürztraminer.
