Second time we have stayed here, we love the lodge so much, super cosy with everything you need, the surroundings and views are stunning, with loads to do around the area, it's just the perfect stay for us
our holiday was just perfect - had such a relaxing time and the lodge was brilliant - it was clean and had everything we needed for a great break - the weather - as well as the lodge was ideal - we will definitely be back - thank you Louise for a perfect setting - as I said - was just what we needed for our break - my family already know what a beautiful relaxing setting the lodge was - kind regards - Kathleen/Michael
The lodge was very clean and well proportioned with and the kitchen had all of the equipment and utensils that we required. As the weather was not favourable, the outside areas were not used. The decking and furnitture looked good but by the time we returned from our exploration it was getting dark and getting indoors was more important.
Lovely comfortable lodge with everything needed for an enjoyable stay. Fantastic dog walking from the doorstep in the very quiet forest. Short drive to beautiful Mersehead RSPB reserve and Arbigland Gardens.
Property was an ideal base for us to attend a hockey tournament in Dumfries. It was quiet, had great views and everything we needed. So much better than staying in a hotel in the area. We were able to explore surrounding attractions including the brilliant Loch Arthur farm shop and cafe
The lodge was in a great location for visiting all the local areas. It was comfortable, really clean & well equipped. So much nature to see just at the lodge, lots of bunnies and birds & some inquisitive cows 😊 we had a wonderful stay & would definitely stay again in the future. Also the book-in and check-in process was seamless and communication was great from the host.
Had a lovely couple of days in the cabin, everything you need and so relaxing. Lovely garden to sit out morning or night.
Would stay there again and highly recommend.
The property was in a beautiful location and inside was lovely and clean. Also everything you need in the cupboards Garden area was great and a lot of the farm animals came to say hello
Nice walks nearby and other lovely places to visit by car. Would recommend people who are looking for a peaceful stay especially if you have a dog
We had a lovely 4 days at Heron Lodge. The lodge was immaculate, lovely bathroom and super comfy beds! The kitchen had everything we needed and we felt like we had lots of space for 4 adults.
The lodge was so close to lovely places to visit including Kippford and Southerness.
Thank you would recommend this lodge and look forward to returning!
Love coming to this lodge but the bedrooms were damp and the bedding we usually come in may when it is not a problem I think the beds should have been aired out if it had not been let for a while
Really very good value you for money and nice lodge only two things I would recommend is that the front door lip a bit too high for a wheelchair great having the ramp and the shower is very weak but a good location and nice and quiet
Perfect peaceful lodge with everything you need inside and out to fully enjoy the picturesque area. Very clean and tidy. The owner was quick to answer any questions we had. Just down the road from fantastic Loch Arthur farm shop and cafe in Beeswing. Plus you can walk straight up from the lodge into the Mabie forest for a quick stroll or a long hike. All on your doorstep!
Wow what a find! This property is wonderful, it really is a bargain price compared to others, perfect location with so much to do in the surrounding areas. The lodge is cleaned to the highest of standards and so homely and comfortable. It had everything we needed. Prior to arrival Louise was great with her communication and on arrival everything was perfect and the guest book was so useful with loads of suggestions for things to do. We had the most wonderful holiday, definitely booking again.
Superb Lodge. Fully equipped and more. Loved enclosed garden for Charl.ie Did not worry about him straying and he made the most of decking. Totally ideal for short breaks to visit all the near by villages and Towns. Perfect.
Unfortunately the weather was pretty terrible. The area does not have a lot to do in bad weather, particularly if you have a dog with you.
The lodge was nice but is quite far from anything of interest. If you had good weather and just wanted to explore the local countryside and nearby coast it would probably be great.
We got full check-in info while already on holiday the previous week. It mentioned we needed to bring our own “pot towel” and towels. We had towels but not a tea towel, so we bought one before arriving. There were actually 3 in the property.

Liked: Cleanliness, location, listing accuracy
Disliked: Check-in, communication
Average
The good impression about the location, cleanliness etc had to be weighed against the terrible experience of having to spend 2/6 nights without being able to contact the property manager through phone or email, unable to lock the front door, unable to get proper room heating or have hot water. Overall it was a below average experience.
